Opened by the Honolulu Board of Water Supply in September 1989, the Halawa Xeriscape Garden displays a series of xeric (dry) plants in a residential-scale setting to demonstrate species capable of providing a visually attractive garden, while using less water than most currently popular plants. The garden serves as a way to educate Oahu residents on ways to save water in lawns, gardens, and landscaped areas. Unless otherwise noted, the garden is open to the public from 9am to 1pm on Wednesdays.
Very pretty, small garden area. Beautiful plants and shrubs . Paved Walkways . Free. Only open specific days and hours. Would not drive far to see this but if combined with other activities nearby and its open. Then nice, little stop. We were done in 20 minutes and enjoyed it. Restrooms and small parking lot.

annual "Unthirsty" plant sale in August. You can park at Halawa Park or surrounding streets and they provide shuttles to pic u up. Awesome. I got expensive clippings of rare Plumeria trees. They were costly. Photos: Entry to the park plants attached
