Great concept but must be extra careful. Injured knee horribly on curved obstacle. All because someone slipped off and it shifted the platform and ruined my knee. Suggested handles to get out which “they hear a lot”. Invest in water sports activity better. Rubber, water and feet don’t mix.
Update: tore my MCL and meniscus. I was told by nurse that I was the fourth patient from this waterpark with an injury. 6-8 week recovery and has been BRUTAL! Never returning.

The water is gross, unfortunately on the obstacle course many children and young adults were either running or pushing each other and rough housing and I had fell into the water unexpectedly because of the horse playing near me and gulped the water and tasted like sewage potty water. The video shown before entering was useless because the life guards didn’t hold anyone accountable for breaking the rules. This would be more pleasant if horseplay by others weren’t allowed. I’m glad all I have is a sore stomach and not a bodily injury.

My kids had a great time and keep asking to go back, so I’m giving four stars despite me not personally having the best experience. I found their staff to be really strict and quick to yell at you without explaining what the rule is or what’s going on. They wouldn’t let anyone open umbrellas because they said it was too windy, despite it being a hot day, no other shady spots available, and not letting anyone in the water for 30 minutes in the middle of the day. We arrived at noon and were told to go straight to the life jackets. When we did, an employee in a nearby hut started yelling at us and told us they wouldn’t help us with life jackets for 20 minutes. We found out from another guest that they close for 30 minutes at noon. The interactions with their staff were awkward and everyone I dealt with seemed unfriendly or annoyed, but it was a hot day. I also wish they had something for kids under 4 years old, their kid area seemed like it would have been great for younger ages.

We came the day before we were gonna come to the park. Saw the cabanas and reserved a cabana #11 to be specific and when we showed up in the morning...... someone was already in #11.... so we told the girl checking us in that we reserved yesterday and she says "we had to move some cabanas around and now we're in #10" we reserved 11 because the concrete is right next to it so our granddaughter can walk around. So then another guys tells us we have 10 and that's not we reserved on purpose...... then the manager got involved and told us they can't be reserved but that's not what the first guy told us...... she told us that they can't and that's its stated on our website..... so then we ended up getting the total opposite end of the cabanas..... still not happy..... don't try to reserve a cabana because they stand behind rules..... so junk....

We had a decent time on the Aquaventure park. I felt the obstacle course was so overly crowded. It was really hard not to run into people while trying to do the challenges. Also the staff weren’t helpful or friendly, they mostly acted annoyed to be there and easily frustrated by questions. The kids had a good time but as a parent I’m not sure it was worth the hassle or money.

We signed up to do the Aqua Adventure before school starts. The reason this is not 5 stars is because of the website and information. It was difficult for us as first time visitors to Wai Kai to understand what's there, what to expect, what to bring, etc. Things like where to sit while kids are on the adventure would be nice to have on the website. Like...you have to pay to sit in the sand area, there's a free area to sit if you get there early (4 tables), or buy food and sit in the restaurant table area. They should also include that there will be breaks where everyone has to exit and the times that this will occur. Also, the staff can be a little more friendly being that this is visited by both locals and tourists. You want the locals to keep coming back and the tourists to say good things about the place so you should provide good customer service.
Now the good stuff. It was fun! The kids and adults enjoyed it. Running around, jumping off the sides, climbing up and sliding down, etc. There's areas to pull yourself back up to the platform with a step to make it easy to get up.
The facilities are very clean. Food was pretty good...not the cheapest but good for being at a tourist stop.

***AquaVenture in Wai Kai lagoon*** I went to the AquaVenture this Sunday for my nephew's 9th birthday. As I was walking across the floating obstacle course my ankle dislocated and broke in 3 places because I stepped where the floats connect which are all over the course and not covered properly. Staff told me I was 3rd person to get injured there that day as I screamed for help. I was taken to Queens ER in Ewa by ambulance and had surgery to repair it. As a nurse being unable to work for 12 weeks is damaging to my family. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS ACTIVITY. I love eating in Wai Kai and going on Thursdays to the food trucks but do not recommend the activities!! The medical staff at Queens told me they have been receiving a tremendous amount of patients due to serious injuries at AquaVenture and The Wave.

Pretty disappointing experience. First I will admit my fault I didn't read thoroughly on ages/rules, totally on me. I prebooked for me and my 3 kids 1 11 year old amd 2 6 year olds. Upon check in I was informed that everyone for the lagoon would be on break for the next 30 min, fine no worries we will just sit and wait. Once reopened we go out to the lagoon obstacle course, and are informed at that point the my 6 year olds could only stay on the keiki area, and I would need to stay with them, and my 11 year old could not go on the main area without me. Everyone was pretty upset but we tried to make the best in the keiki area, but after about 5 min the kids and myself wanted to leave. On the way out one employee over heard how upset we were and suggested we try and get a refund. So we attempt to ask the girl who checked us in if this could happen, she calls someone and no because we went in the water (well one of us did). So be it but if you.all could have let me know upon initial check it all of this could have been cleared up, instead of waiting around just to be let down. We will not be returning.

This place is so much fun for kids and adults alike! I can’t recommend it enough. My kids can stay there for hours! They thought of almost everything! If you get there early enough, you can grab some seats in the shade. There are good options for food and coffee for purchase, or you can run out to your car for a from-home picnic. They have lockers for valuables, clean bathrooms, private changing areas, and friendly workers and lifeguards. It can get pretty busy. If you’re planning to go on a weekend, book well in advance. Weekdays seem to be less busy.
Something to be aware of is that keiki under 14 are not allowed on the course without an adult, which is totally reasonable! The only downside of this is that this 40 year old mom only wants to do the course a few times before she’s ready to just sit back and relax while the kids play. The course doesn’t provide spaces that are shaded for parents who are on the course to sit, and it’s also hard to find places that are out of the way from course traffic. I, along with several other parents, sat out in the sun for several hours today while our kids played. Some out of the way shaded spots would be really welcome! Just a suggestion to make this place even more awesome. :)
Again, we love this place and will totally be back! You should go too! If you’re local, don’t forget to ask for kama’-aina!

I would have definitely gave this place 5 stars but seriously the water for the lagoon adventure is not the cleanest. It’s not salt water so I’m not sure what it is. 😟 great place tho the kids had fun and I had fun. I’ll go back to try the wave pool but I’m not too sure about the lagoon. I would recommend going as soon as they open. The lagoon closes at 4pm

Two stars because of the way this place is set up. We went for the aqua adventure (awesome by the way) for my daughter’s birthday. We got there late 220, come to find out the place closes at 4 (my fault for not checking) and they take a safety break from 230-3pm so we only get an hour to play. I’m like cool that’s fine but they charge us full day price but we only get to use it for one hour. What’s up with that? Why not have discounted half day prices?

You had a good thing going. Then you forced handicap people to park in the rock parking lot on Tuesday (Prince Kuhio Day). *UPDATE* I will take your word that the problem has been resolved. I will update my review to better reflect Wai Kai when I return, "fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." Due to Tuesday's fiasco it may be a few Thursdays before I return. *Update* handicap parking is now available. The food is good but priced at the high end.

100% recommend avoiding if your kids are under 7 years old. We bought tickets online and did not realize our kids could only play on the very tiny keiki area. $130 for my kids to get bored after 45 minutes. And the water smells like it’s full of dead fish.

This activity is not family friendly. I came with a group of friends and my own children. The kids over 14 were allowed to freely play. Kids 13 and under had to be fully supervised. I could not float in the water and watch them. I had to physically follow them around. The kids under 6 could only go in a very small area. I understand respect safety and monitoring your own children. The workers were rude and made the children feel stressed out over the rules.
