About Wailua Falls
Wailua Falls is a must-see destination on the Road to Hana, known for its stunning beauty and refreshing swimming spot. Located past Hana town, it is one of the grandest waterfalls in North America, especially impressive during heavy rain when the flow is strong. Visitors appreciate the warmer and cleaner water, making it an ideal spot for a dip. The main viewing area is easily accessible from the roadside, but parking is limited, fitting only about four cars. A smaller, safer viewing area is available down a path, where visitors can enjoy a closer look and feel the cool mist from the falls. While the area can be slippery with rocks, it provides a beautiful experience with fewer crowds, allowing for a more personal visit. A rain jacket or poncho is recommended due to the mist produced by the falls. Overall, Wailua Falls offers a unique and picturesque adventure for those traveling the Road to Hana.

Best waterfall swimming spot on the road to Hana! It’s worth it to drive a bit past the town to go swimming here. The water was warmer and cleaner than all the other places we stopped.

Roadside Wailua Falls; obviously runs fuller during heavy rain. Be advised there is not a lot of parking. Stop, awe for a few moments, take a photo/video, and that’s about it. Ironically, glad we saw it on a rainy day. The flow was stronger, and the green colors popped in the light.
