Absolutely wonderful hike! It took us approx. 6 hours to reach the Kalalau beach where we spent the night. The next day we went back, blessed with sunny and dry weather. Might be quite dangerous in wet and windy conditions. Good trekking shoes are very important. You need a permit to do the whole trek. Book well in advance! Kalalau Trail is an 11-mile trail that leads from Ke’e Beach to Kalalau Beach along the Nāpali Coast. The Kalalau Trail provides the only land access to this part of the rugged coast. The trail traverses 5 valleys before ending at Kalalau Beach where it is blocked by sheer, fluted pali. It is graded but almost never level as it crosses above towering sea cliffs and through lush valleys. The trail drops to sea level at the beaches of Hanakāpīʻai and Kalalau.

Gorgeous trails and stunning view. We took our 2.5 yo, which he did need to be carried in parts of it that were wet or the path was narrow. Not super kid-friendly but he still enjoyed it. You do need to take a shuttle and have a pass to get to this spot, not car accessible.

Awesome hike to experience rainforest & ocean. Pretty muddy, do expect to get you shoes soaked when crossing streams.

It's a shame - the hike is very nice... but, and now it comes: as a non-Hawaiian resident, there is no chance of driving your own vehicle to the park even in the off-season, unless you make a reservation a month in advance... but who I already know that ? - without a reservation in advance you can't get in anyway - so your only chance is with the shuttle: 40 dollars per person just to go hiking... sorry, that's a rip off and unfortunately not the first time here in Hawaii...Fees: $40 per person

This has unfortunately turned into a money-grabbing scheme

If your just hiking for the views so the first half mile. The view doesn't get much better than the view from the rock overlook. The river to cross to get to the beach is fun but the view isn't much better.Fees: Have to make a reservation in advance

I don't have the vocabulary to properly describe how beautiful this place is. We hiked to the falls and it took us about 8 hrs. We stopped a bunch to admire the views and plants but the hike is no joke. We are both pretty fit and it was still a challenge along parts of the trail. Don't let this dissuade you from the experience. Do this hikeParking: Just do the shuttle. Trying to get a parking pass is ridiculousRestrooms: There are some at the beginning and then at the beach

Very nice and secluded beach. Pack light tho. It's a bit of a hike from the bus depot. Great place to relax and just walk the beach. Monk seals sun bathing in the afternoon hours.

We did the 2 miles to the beach and came back which took 3.5 hours total.Highly advise hiking shoes NOT (esp not white ) tennis shoes as it gets muddy and you can slip very easily. If you need extra assistance bring hiking poles

Favorite trail on Kauai. The Napali Coast is just something that needs to be experienced and appreciated. This is rugged and beautiful territory with dramatic drops into the ocean. It is very remote. Although there are a lot of other hikers, it feels very special and wild. We got rained on the way back, but it didn't diminish the experience. It was just gorgeous. Wish we had time to hike to the falls.

Shuttle leaves very much on time! We had a 6:40am pick up but was the first one to arrived there. When 6:20 rolled around, they were able to squeeze us in to the shuttle. Shuttle was gone by 6:21am.We started our hike at 7am and arrived to the beach at exactly 8:45. I wore training sneakers (Metcon 5) and was perfectly fine. You can get away with the hiking tevas from lot to beach but i would not suggest it from beach to falls. The hike from beach to falls is very wet and muddy. If you wear sandals, you will have a difficult time. Doable but you really will be better off with closed toe.!!! Pick up a hiking stick just pass the napali coast sign. It will def help you. !!!Bring lots of water. The hike back was sunny.

We only hiked in about a mile to see the first major outlook! It was an incredible view and a great hike to that point! It is a fairly strenuous hike with some slippery uneven terrain. All in all it is an incredible trail! Get there early!!

Really gorgeous and well maintained. Get tickets to park one month in advance. Nice showers and bathrooms and a beach to relax in after the hike. Overlooks Ke'e Beach.

Worth the hike! Bring whatever water you can carry and wear a bathing suit under your hiking clothes!Read and listen to trail warning signs to be safe and respectful to the land and others on the trail.Restrooms: Restroom just before trailheadPublic Transportation: Shuttle into the park - passes need to be booked very far in advance as limited people are allowed into the park each day
