Love, love, love this gallery. It's a bright little slice of artistic heaven on the island. The art is so non-traditional than your typical island ocean scene. Colorful, full of emotion, carefully curated. And the owner is a doll!

Great art gallery. We stopped in here on the Hanapepe Art Walk and ended up buying three awesome Welzie pieces. Kate was great to work with and the art delivered to our home in Texas in perfect condition. I highly recommend this gallery.

This is one of the best galleries on Kauai. Great collection of surf art. There is so much variety and much of the art work is exclusive to this gallery. I can't wait to buy my next piece. I have friends coming in December and this will be their first stop.

Was cruising through Hanapepe with the Ohana and on this trip to Kauai, I told my hubby that I wanted to buy a piece of art for our home. We have never bought an original piece before and as a mom of three it's not something I would normally splurge on but have always wanted to. It's always such a turn off when you walk into a gallery and nobody greets you or even acknowledges you've entered their establishment. This gallery was different though - Kate was super nice welcoming us (even with my kids in tow) and I liked that the gallery was eclectic but not at all overwhelming. There was one piece that caught my eye and I told Kate that I liked it and she told me more about it. I said I'd think about it and Kate was totally cool with that. After checking out the other galleries and then leaving Hanapepe, I decided I wanted it - called Kate and she wrapped it up for me and sent to me on Maui. I am thrilled with my first original piece by Santiago Soto and loved this awesome gallery! Mahalo Kate!

While visiting Kauai in July, went to Hanapepe for their Friday Night Art Walk (fun!) and, while very small, The Bright Side Gallery was chock full of beautiful paintings. Grant Pecoff is one of my favorite artists and bought one of his wonderful books as a gift for a friend back home. Hadn't planned to buy anything for myself but when I saw the original watercolor by the artist Coco, it stopped me dead in my tracks. The painting brought back wonderful memories of living in Miami growing up and bobbing happily in the surf for hours. It's called "The Cure" and knew I had to have it. It's now home with me in Colorado and will bring me joy every day! The owner of the The Bright Side (Kate) seems very knowledgeable and was so sweet in working with me to buy the painting.

As an avid surfer, we have started a personal "wave art" collection in our home. We are not the super rich folks but we try to collect paintings dealing with water. There are abundance of "impressionist" ocean paintings out there, mostly formulaic, but our focus is to find pictures that capture the moment of being there... like bring in a surfing lineup, or just before I paddle out for surf. That means the images do not have to be photo-realistic (and you got your mobile device camera for that anyway!) What Kate has collected really resonated with my idea of surf paintings should be. And so if you agree with me, this gallery is a well worthwhile stop. For example check out Grant Pecoff's work. A bit whimsical, it really convey the fun of being "out there." And that's what I like. And don't be afraid to ask for the price, many of them are reproduced from the original in the "giclee" and substantially more affordable than the originals. And that's perfect for me.

After five hours touring the Napali Coast with Holo Holo Charters, we headed to Little Fish Coffee for smoothies but stopped into my cousin's friend's new art gallery first. It consists of one room with painted chairs that I wasn't sure was for a sun-drained girl like myself. It displayed a variety of pieces, large and small, and the artists definitely took in the islands' naturally beautiful landscapes, transformed it and transferred it onto canvas . There was one piece in particular that I enjoyed, even the second time we stopped in during the Art Fair on Friday nights. It was of two surfers, straddling their surfboards with the sun setting behind them so they had no real details. The angle was as if you just had your head above the water, the ocean rocked a bit and the waves were shades of purple. I should have gotten the artist's name. I also picked up a card of another artist, Erik Abel. Check him out. Kate, the owner, is super friendly, and has a background in the arts. Stop in and say hello!
