We were recommended these chips by a local. The store front is quaint but the range is awesome. I love taro chips, but I particularly love their adobo taro chips, so much umami flavour! The only downside is I think the shop can be a little hard to notice as it's quite unassuming, and the pricing is not cheap, but in my opinion worth it if you have the money!

Established in 1936, the original Hawaiian chip by Raymond Atebara in Hilo, Hawaii! This is by far one of the most delicious chips you'll ever put in your mouth. Taro chips in all sorts of flavors. You'll see it being sold in markets and stores. Come to the main shop on at 717 Manono St! It's a must visit when you're in Hilo.

Now that Maui Potato Chips has closed, we count on Atebara's to satisfy our Hawaiian chip cravings and they are fantastic! After picking up a few bags from their store in Hilo, we quickly got hooked to their furikake chips. They're like crack! Now we order them online to California and they're always carefully packaged and arrive quickly. They offer free shipping over a certain dollar amount which is easy to hit since they're not cheap (but what is these days) and you can easily tell the quality they put into making them. The foil bag also helps keep them fresh. This is our 2nd online order as we share them with family and friends.

Atebara's chips are the best. I order online pretty often and they ship it out so quickly. I usually get my order within a couple of days (I'm on Oahu). The chips always come intact, and don't get crushed during shipping. The new resealable bags are also great.

Hawaii Island Gourmet Products aka Atebara Chips is a must stop for us when visiting Hilo. Small store located close to Hawaiian Style Cafe on Manono Street. It's easy to find with signage of that Potato chip dude close to the road and on the building wall. They stock a variety of different chips including taro chips. Love that old school chip style that a little thicker and a little oily. It brings back memories of my childhood with there weren't so many brands available. This is a great place to stop by to pick up some Omiyage for family and friends. Don't forget to ask for a stamp card as you'll probably be back for more on your next Island visit.

My absolute favorite chips I have ever had. I tried the sweet potato chips when I was visiting and I could not get them out of my head. I realized they don' have them anywhere else so I recently got them shipped to California. I'm happy to say they were just as delicious as I remember them. Will definitely be ordering again!

OMG. We came here 8/27/2019. Walked into the front door no one was in the shop. My girlfriend picked out some items and put them on the table, still no one was to be found. I opened the door a few times to activate the door bell thinking someone would hear it , yeah right (NADDAS). She was going to put the items back, but I told her just leave it and we walked out.

Cutest little shop! If you're heading makai down Manono St. right before the marketplace, you'll see two houses on your right hand side and that's where it's at! I went because my dad wanted some goodies. Atebara Potato Chips & Chocolate Atebara Crunch (clusters of hamakua mac nuts & Atebara potato chips covered in chocolate.) I also ended up buying some Liliko'i bark. The only reason I did was because they had a table of jars full of samples! I truly love places that will let you sample their product, it only makes sense especially if they carry items you don't normally see. I ate just before heading there so I didn't have the stomach to try more samples. But they also had quite the assortment of cookies and Mac nuts. I would definitely recommend here if you're looking to bring some goodies back home without breaking the bank. Definitely will stop back in again next time I come into town!
