“I bought a 2019 Jeep at Kama’aina Motors and had the most amazing salesman, Ed Delacruz, to assist me with the selection! I’m female and have bought several used vehicles in my life. In my opinion, it’s practical and more economical than buying a new vehicle (which seems to lose an immediate $15K value as soon as it leaves the lot). Ed Delacruz was kind, intelligent, and a local Hawaiian resident who understood exactly what I wanted and guided me properly throughout the entire process. He even drove with me to the top of Mauna Kea from Hilo to make sure the vehicle made it up and down the mountain and had the power I needed. As most locals know, the top of Mauna Kea is around 14,000 feet at a pretty steep incline. The vehicle operated perfectly. Ed said I was on his personal record for the longest test drive?. He was fun to work with! My experience was very positive purchasing this vehicle (it only took a few hours to purchase and negotiations were very easy).
If you need a vehicle, i highly recommend you go through Ed DelaCruz as your salesman at Kama’aina Motors. He’s completely transparent and will always answer your questions or find the answer. It should be noted he was highly recommended to me by my police partner at the Hawaii Police Department because of his , honesty, experience, and character. Check him out at Kama’aina Motors. “Literally some of the coolest people ever.
One of the guys from Seany B's happened to be at the trash transfer station and he saw that my break lights were out. He offered to fix them real fast and do my safety check at the same time (it expires that month). I go to his shop after running an errand and I find out that it's his day off and he's still offering to help. He took care of everything, it was super cheap and had me on my way within 15 minutes.
I wish I had of gotten his name so he could get the recognition he deserves.

“Great place to get gas. They have regular and ethanol-free (non-ethanol, for your yard tools, etc.). Full service, they pump the gas for you, no need to get out of car. They service and repair your vehicle too. Best place in town”

“Nathan really knows his stuff! I had an issue with my car that two other mechanics in town couldn't diagnose after thorough inspections. Meanwhile, Nathan takes it out on a test drive with me in the passenger seat, and within about two minutes, he tells me the problem and the solution. And he only charged me a case of soda for his time! I was able to do the repair myself, and sure enough, it fixed the problem. I'll be going back to Nathan again when I need work on my car. Great mechanic in Hilo!”

“I was in a serious jam and Gary really came through for me! My truck blew a break line and fluid was shooting out all over the place. I called a few shops looking for help and no one could get me in on short notice. I called Big Island Break and Front End Repair first thing in the morning and Gary said if I could get the truck there he would see what he could do. It turned out to be a bigger problem than I thought. Gary explained the problem thoroughly and showed me where the issue was. He did the repair that same day and I was able to get back to work. I was charged a fair price too. Great experience and I would absolutely go back to this shop. Big mahalo to Gary and the guys!”

“Farmer John. These guys are Awesome. Had a beat up old Yanmar starter , special configuration . Thought it might be “We’ll need to order parts”. But they had it looking new in a few hours from drop off. Tractor fired up like a happy lion, running like new!

“I wanted to get my car looked over by a mechanic in Hilo. I called and spoke to Jeff directly. He was patient and thorough, making sure I got to ask all my questions. I appreciate that since I generally have a list of questions with things like this. He addressed all of my questions. He told me to bring my list of questions and concerns with my car when I brought it in. I was able to get an appointment within one or two business days.
When I took my car in, Jeff spent a lot of time with me discussing my list. I appreciated this too. After that, he gave me a price quote. The inspection ended up taking about an hour longer than planned because they wanted to take a closer look at some things. Even so, they stuck with their original quoted amount, which I respect and appreciate.
When it was all done, Jeff again talked to me to make sure I understood what they had found and the next steps. No immediate needs for repair, just stuff to be aware of down the road.
Overall, I'd say this shop is honest, trustworthy, and competent. I recommend them.”

“I couldn't believe that only after 4 years, my Chevy Transmission died! I was so pissed. It died right after the warranty. Deluz Chevy didn't want it either and suggested Transmission Technology to repair it. It was very expensive to repair, Im not going to lie. But Brysen and Corey at Transmission Technology were great in explaining things to me. They were always available by phone, e-mail, or if I just stopped by. Brysen put the new transmission in ahead of schedule and its running great! He is also doing follow up visits and servicing at no cost to make sure the new transmission is running fine with no issues. Mahalo Nui Brysen and Corey! I'm a happy customer! So glad I got my truck back! ❤️??”
“Great service! My Tacoma A/C stopped cooling and they had it recharged and back on the road in half an hour for a reasonable price. They have a machine that does this fast and efficiently and also identifies potential problems. When I need more A/C repairs, Jimmy's will be my first stop!”
“READ THIS!! OK I brought my car into the Honda dealership for an oil change and to check a slowly leaking tire. Honda Dealership completely assured me the tire was unrepairable and said a new tire with mount would cost about $300.
I called K&J for an estimate for a brand new tire at $170 mounted. I thought well that’s much cheaper.
I casually mentioned to them that the dealership said it was unrepairable and should I at least have them look at it to make sure? Well guess what….it was repairable and they fixed it $30 total.
Now they could’ve sold me the tire without saying anything, but they did not. This is the kind of local service in Hilo you can’t get from a corporate entity like Honda dealerships.
I’m 99.9% sure this is the cheapest and most affordable place in town aside from the fact that they’re really just honest humans in the circumstance.”

“My husband and I had to get my mother-in-law’s car inspected and approved for registration. We ran into a snag when my “mil’s” insurance card didn’t pop up with the appropriate information, so my husband and I (using 2 smart phones and a limited amount of tech savvy) had to do a conference call with his mom, the insurance agent and us. Needless to say it was much more time consuming and complicated than expected. Keith and his staff were great. Since my “mil” had been their client for a long time, they were very patient and helpful while the whole insurance complication was figured out, and went right to work once everything was sorted out. The whole process took a lot longer than expected, but they were really great about making it feel like it wasn’t a big deal on their end of things.

“Great honest shop! Have been to quite a few shops getting different answers from each one. My dad recommended Kalawes, finally the concerns I had were addressed and fixed. The quote was higher than what I actually had to pay which is also a plus!! I don’t recommend taking your Toyota anywhere else but Kalawes”
