Jelena is the owner. 30 year resident of Hilo and a Licensed Realtor. She is super creative artist her self. In fact the day before we met her she was in Kona learning how to weave fish traps. She is a weaver her self. A true artist at heart. As a local native Hawaiian my self (Oahu) I was happy to find a shop supporting local artist and our Hilo community. No made in China stuff here. If you want a tiki bar stuff (btw that theme is not Hawaiian and was invented in California in the 40’s and 50’s) or the Life is. Beach signs go to Target or Pei One but if you want art made by local artist go visit Banyan Gallery. They take electronic payments and ship bigger items. Located right next to Hilo Hawaiian Hotel Grand Naniloa (Double Tree) Hotel. And next to Liliuokalani Park right on Hilo Bay. Walk the park to get your steps in. So if you want true local art by local artist to create beautiful memories of your visit while sitting in your living room back home in the dead of winter - this is the place to bring back a heart warming piece of Aloha!

Amazing! Jelena is an amazing artist as well as entrepreneur! You must go to Hilo to see her gallery /shop. She now represents 85 artists. She has something for everyone's budget! One of our highlights in Hilo!

I visited Banyan Gallery while in Hilo. In addition to the beautiful art and jewelry the customer service was great! She is very friendly and knowledgeable not only about the products but the area as well. She gave us great information about the surrounding area and places to visit. I recommend stopping in to buy some beautiful souvenirs and friendly conversation.

Really nice selection of local art at reasonable prices! Small shop but they have a lot of art, ranging from ornaments to prints, water colors, wooden carvings, textiles, etc. This is definitely worth a visit if you are looking for souvenirs or gifts!

Right off of Banyan Drive near the entrance to Liliuokalani Gardens sits a little art shop. Being nearby the hotels, there's always the concern you're about to enter a tourist trap but thankfully this place is far from it. Banyan Gallery offers art, jewelry, cards, and small handmade souvenirs from artists in and around Hilo. It's a great place to stop in and buy something meaningful either as a memento of a trip or gifts for people at home. It's a welcoming little building with colorful items in the windows and a table outside. Prices are consistent with unique handmade items - it's not cheap here. I bought a pack of printed cards on my last visit. I'd recommend stopping here on your next visit, you might find a treasure.

Stopped in while staying at a nearby hotel. Service was friendly but the place needs more artist talent. If you like carvings then I recommend staying a night at the Wild Ginger Hotel. The new owner is a painter and a carver. Best I have seen anywhere but I donʻt think any of it is for sale. I believe his name is Jason Mantis.

Great gallery filled with prints, jewelry, and much more. They have over 60 Hawaiian artists selling their artwork. Monica has great customer service. I got earrings for $24.

This detached shop is near the Hilton Hotel. All items are handmade or artist-made. I left with a bag full. Currently her hours vary (owing to covid), but when I saw through the window the delights inside, I called the owner. She arrived within 10 minutes. That is amazing customer service.
