I really enjoyed stopping in this bookstore. Great selection, and the environment was so warm, friendly and relaxing! I loved seeing photos of Jesus and Yogananda behind the cashier desk ? that was a sign that I was in a good place! I’ll definitely be back ?

Found an adorable Hilo bookstore neatly filled with a variety of titles. It is almost at the end of Hilo towns main drag. There is a clean bathroom for customers inside. Park on the street if u r driving. I enjoy finding small book stores. This bookstore has Hawaiiana, national, fun, romance etc. My sister found a book on glass, glass blowing and designing which she does as a hobby and she never saw the book before in other national bookstores.

Not a bad selection, but the older lady behind the counter approached me in the corner of the business/finance section and asked me to lift up the back of my shirt which made me incredibly uncomfortable.

Big Island BookBuyers is a literary haven that captures the essence of the book lover's paradise. Nestled in downtown Hilo, this charming bookstore is a treasure trove for all things book-related. What sets Big Island BookBuyers apart is their comprehensive collection. The shelves are well stocked with both new and gently used books and DVDs. Spend some time browsing through aisles of hardcover and paperback fiction, including fantasy, mystery, romance, and thrillers. The Hawaiiana, tour guide, and local author genres sections provide a deep dive into the unique culture of the island. The store also boasts an impressive range of topics, from spirituality and self-help to gardening, cooking, history, science, art, poetry, and children's literature. No matter your interests, you're sure to find a book that captivates you. What's even more enticing is the bookstore's trading and buying program. During our first visit, we traded in a couple of paperback books for store credit and left with a stack of new reads to enjoy. The process was seamless and the staff was friendly and helpful throughout. During our second visit, my daughter was excited to stumbled upon a well-preserved hardcover copy of "Who We Are," the official autobiography of One Direction. It's these unexpected finds that make each visit to Big Island BookBuyers a delightful adventure. The aisles upon aisles of books invite you to get lost in the world of literature, and the warm and inviting atmosphere encourages hours of browsing and exploration. The staff's passion for books is evident in their knowledge and eagerness to assist. And I love knowing that I am supporting a local bookstore rather than a big box or e-commerce retailer. Big Island BookBuyers is a book lover's paradise that goes beyond expectations. With its diverse range of materials, friendly staff, and the joy of discovering something new, it's a must-visit for both locals and tourists alike.

Hilo is a fun town to walk around and explore the side streets. On our last visit we remembered going to a book store that wasn't welcoming or friendly, but thankfully we found this one that ended up being the opposite. We loved our time here and I even found a treasure. Big Island BookBuyers is a used book store of all genres. Hawaiiana is right at the front, with books about local interest sure to entice. They also have other media like movies. Fiction is toward the back with towering wooden shelves and fun displays like book & movie selections. The cashier was friendly and welcoming. The even had a restroom for customers, that was super clean and nice; sometimes you just need one on your walking adventures. Prices on most books are 1/2 of the cover price, unless otherwise marked on the inside cover. This is worth checking out for any bibliophile.

Always have a great time there. I was looking for a book in a specific subject area. Unfortunately, because they specialize in book buying, they didn't have what I wanted. Otherwise, I still recommend this store.

This place is awesome. The lady (I guess she owns the store) is absolutely lovely. There are some bookshelves with books about Hawai'i and also novels, thrillers, etc. whose story is set on Hawai'i. Just what I was looking for!

It's really cool to have this store in town. Especially since I like to read actual books. Tons of books on every topic. Every book I've purchased was in great shape. Great location downtown. Grab some reads and then some food.

This book store has a wide variety of collections. It is a block off the main street in downtown Hilo. When you want to browse books during your vacation, this place is a good fit. If you are local, it is also a fun place to browse. I am very happy to find this book. It was a bit of a surprise, but I was looking for this one! I recommend stopping by enjoying being surrounded by books! You will find some interesting books!
