Whether you have had a moco loco in your life, or if it will be your first time, you got to try one at Cafe 100. Don't expect fancy here. This place is the real deal, and the food is reasonably priced and done exactly right.

We tried this place for brunch when we visited The Big Island. I had the stew and it was great.

Great local plate lunches, and the home of Loco Mokos with many different kinds of Loco Mokos. Fast service, friendly staff... leave a good tip to support this long time local business!

Good sized portions, flavourful and tasty. The fries could have been cooked a smidge longer so it was more crisp. Lots of rice, gravy was smooth and not too salty. Service was quick. Ample parking and outdoor seating. Portable potty

Loco Moco was like a thin hamburger steak spread under omelet rice (because it was scrambled).Steak plate is a good food for children to eat.Comes with 2 steaks (smoky flavor) + rice + potato salad, no sauce on the meat. There is no dining area, but there are tables and chairs outside where you can eat even if it rains.

Been coming here since I was a kid, 50 years now. I love the history of this truly local spot. Home of the loco moco! Plate lunches in Hawaii aren't fancy but they are flavorful and cater to the many cultures in the islands.

Visited big island for 3 nights and decided to pop in to visit as we’ve heard good things and learnt it was where the loco moco originated from.My group had ordered fish loco moco but was given the wrong order (which was beef), had to exchange as mates don’t eat beef for religious reasons. To be fair they were polite and rectified the order.Another friend decided to order another and ended up having diahorrea.

We ordered the fish Locos which were mediocre. Meals could be better tasting and better service needed.

We were given wrong orders (ordered fish locos but was given hamburger locos, which could we could not eat due to religious reasons) and had to wait a long time for the correct order to be delivered. Also, after eating the “famed” Kīlauea Loco, I contracted acute and severe diarrhea and excessive burps which resulted in my hospitalization and surgery required due to contraction of E. Coli and Giardia Parasite. Highly do not recommend. -100/10

Loco Moco reportedly originated in Hilo but there has been debates as to which establishment actually created it. So, when in Hilo, had to stop by Cafe 100, considered the home of the Loco Moco for our first dinner for the original and the fish moco. Loved how they have so many moco varieties including non-beef ones as well as double patties if you so choose. I do wish that it came with more gravy though. Lots of parking and seating available if you want to dig in on site. Like many spots in Hilo, it does close early (6PM) so plan accordingly if you want it for dinner.

We made it to Cafe 100 before they closed on Friday night! Well, there was a rush of people arriving behind us. They have a big menu! We got Aloha Friday (beef stew and lau lau) and Island Girl (fried shrimp and beef teri). The lau lau was so good! It was tender and flavorful. The beef stew was classic style with carrots and potatoes. The fried shrimp were hot and crispy and the beef teri were big slices of beef in tasty sauce. We really should have only eaten half, but it was too yummy to stop. Cafe 100 is classic and a must visit. They get weekends off, so don't wait!
