i went to close my account here since i no longer use this account. The teller was very friendly and efficient. However, it seemed like there was no managers or supervisors on duty to approve the closure. she sent messages to all at the main branch as well as the other branches. After 10 mins someone finally responded. i'm glad i closed this account. not worth keeping open and they charge a lot of fees if you are not active with your account .

Update: In addition to the $2.00 fee if you do not deposit or withdraw funds from the account at least once per month, there is a $5.00 fee for it dropping below the minimum balance. So that means $7.00 is deducted until your money you save in that account is completely gone. They're penalizing good people who want to save up their money & instead put it in their own pockets. Legal robbery. Don't let them have that opportunity.

I've been a CU Hawaii member for nearly 20 years but I'm so frustrated with them I am ready to change banks. They have a policy that you have to open a separate savings account for every other account you have. So Business, personal, childrens, Loans, all have to have a savings account attached to them ( we have 4 at this time.) each of these has to stay active or else it will be charged a monthly inactivity fee of $5. If the balance is below $50 they charge and additional $3. I have all the accounts on an automatic deposit to avoid these fees except for one. The bank sends a letter warning of inactivity and asks you to sign it. We got this letter in June and turned it into the credit unions Keaau branch in July. We thought all was well but they lost it or didn't register it and started deducting money from the savings account without our realizing it. (I couldn't see it or have access to the account and it's not with the rest of our accounts online. When I asked why they said it's because the account is in my husbands name.) They wouldn't even let me make it active. So he called a few months ago and asked them to stop withdrawing the now $8 a month, make the account active and bring the balance to where we wouldn't be charged. We thought all was well but he went into the credit union today and thought to check on it. The balance was now run down to $5. We had to move more money from checking to avoid the fees we should never have been paying in the first place. I have asked them to look into this and they say they will call back but never do. They say there is no evidence we turned in the signed paper making the account active. (And BTW they said today that my name IS on the account and they don't know why it's not showing up electronically.) This is not the only problem. I needed to make a wire transfer to the mainland and wanted to make sure it went smoothly so I went in person to talk to an officer to find all the details. She said to come in the day before by 10:30am because that's when they send out the transfers. So that's what I did, come at 10am just to make sure I had enough time and they told me it was too late and I needed to come in 2 days early to make the transfer. This was for a house closing and it held up all the banks on the mainland and caused a huge amount of stress. CU Hawaii used to be a reliable business but seems to have deteriorated in the last few years. No matter how nice they are, I still need them to be consistent and professional and I can longer say that's the case.

What happened to this "business"? It has so changed for the worse! Or maybe it's just a few bad "workers" with ment health issues of long Covid!?!? But I am closing my account there after being a member for decades - it's too scary for me!

OMG . I called in, was put in a queue to wait for someone to get to me. I wrote a complaint... and I received an email reply to call them, the message was from the call center not a manager or cus service or someone that could actually help me .

Very upset at the moment ?. I just checked my account online and there are some surprising fees. I’ve been with CU for decades and they’re charging me for depositing more money into my account!!! - and then I moved a portion of that elsewhere. Hundreds in fees… wth! Crazy business practices CU!!! We’re in difficult times and you’re robbing your clients! Apparently not #ourkuleana! We support you… shame on you.And your phone system, with the long message, and queue to wait for someone to pick up… omg!The “old-timers” who were friendlier and quicker, gone… c’mon managers, do better.

CU Hawaii FCU has been incredibly helpful to me. Whenever I come in to deposit my cash, they work fast to get me out of their in just a couple of minutes. I’ve gone to some other banks and their wait time is long, but these guys are efficient and got good service ?

After being with CU Hawaii for over 15 years I am now banking @ First Hawaiian bank! None of my Mobile deposit checks was not deposited simply because it was not written the way they wanted it to be!! Be sure to read all there fine print as with their debit card! You need to opt in on services otherwise you can keep on using a debit card with a negative balance! I will never do any money transactions there if at all possible!!!! I'll be glad to go into more detail if need be! I'd give negative stars if I could!!

This is the worst Credit Union I have ever been a member of. They do not care about even their best customers and put up road blocks whenever they can. You get different answers from different employees and different procedures in different branches. There are much better solutions for your banking needs.

WORST CU ever. DO NOT BANK HERE unless you want to give away your money. I have had an active accounts with CU. I noticed they started taking $5 from my account for the past several months. I called to have them correct it given my accounts have been active. They refused. Then, later, when I try to transfer money from my account, they had locked it so I had called them back and I will be closing my account asap. If you are trying to manage your money, save money, do not bank here. Yes, the tellers can be nice, but the CU literally takes your money from you!

Love the bank but their online services are very bad downloads to quicken don’t work and responses to online requests or transactions are slow or nonexistent/ very bad I’ve complained a number of times and I have not gotten any response.Quicken Data transactions require a re-authorization every single time and the re-authorization codes sometimes do not even get here it is incredibly frustrating.I love credit unions they are local and generally more responsive but in the area of electronic transactions this one sucks big-time
