On September 16th, when my husband's six siblings and I went sightseeing in Hilo, we happened to meet Asako, who worked at the store, and we looked into the store. It's a very nice shop with a great sense of style, stocking items such as hats and quilts that the owner has carefully selected and can only be found in Hawaii. Be sure to stop by when you go to Hilo. Asako-san, thank you for your kindness ??

This was a great stop after a day on the beach. Chicken salad wrap was terrific and the portions were nearly too much. Hours are a bit strange as we were there late afternoon and they were prepping for dinner.

Great selection and Aunties that talk story if you want. Also gave a variety of hard-to-find, authentic Hawaiian ware.

if you're inclined towards using eco friendly items and are drawn to body products enhanced by local, pacific scents, or if you appreciate the artistry necessary to craft hats and other items, this store is going to be right up your alley.we walked in and i fell in love!i spent a lot of time talking to the owner who engaged in a length conversation with me. it was honestly the highlight of our day trip to hilo. she's so knowledgeable in terms of weaving and has a phenomenal woven vintage hat collection you should gaze upon and appreciate. each and every one a true WORK OF ART!great sarongs and other items typical of pacific culture. some beautiful matted prints, jewelry, women's and men's clothing, a section for babies and also locally sourced cleaning products that keep the planet in mind.this is a store where you can tell they care about every aspect of the business down to the small details. it was so nice to see a business likethis amidst others in the row on kamehameha street facing the bay that carry more mass produced items. hana hou stands out as a true GEM.

Love the upgrade to the larger store. They are all about cultivating the Hawaiian culture through lauhala weaving and not only have hats for sale but also have the materials to make them. I'm not sure I'll ever get to learning to dry, prep, strip, and weave the hala into a mat or purse or some amazing ornaments...but I'll admire and buy them all day. Same goes for the earrings, soaps, sustainable living goodies and clothing.

I read an earlier review of a customer that felt she was being followed around like she was thief or something. I had the same experience but I know that they are very service oriented and want to make sure they're there if you any questions. I love this store and the workers are full of so much aloha. Definitely recommend!!

This place is simply just gorgeous. Minimalistic but at the same had a lot of things. A lot stuff that is weaved from lauhala (pandanus) I assume. Lots of local products as well and zero waste items. A refillable station too so you can weigh your jars and refill them with the liquids you want. They even have reusable metal containers that are prefilled and you can bring back for another refill. Beautiful jewelry and extremely outstanding work on the weaved hats.

So cordial, beautiful items, a little bit of everything. We referred some visitors and they came back by to say thank you.

This place was great! We had a wonderful pizza with our choice of toppings (we went with chicken and bacon), and we tried three of the dessert bars. All three were fabulous, but our favorite was the Oreo bar. The outdoor seating was perfect, and the employee who helped us was very courteous and efficient. Covid restrictions were in place for those worried about that.

If you're shopping the waterfront in Hilo you don't want to miss this shop. I swung by on a Thursday afternoon and met the owner who is the sweetest. The staff was friendly, the shop was adorable and I purchased the cutest rattan bag.
