This scenic area is known as the US war memorial park (for the Viet Nam and Korean wars) --- located just across the US federal building complex in downtown Hilo. You can observe the US federal building in the center background, as originally constructed around 1916. The US federal building as shown in this photo resembles the US White House, somewhat. Right across the side-street from the US federal building on 154 Waianuenue Avenue, is a downtown bank called "HomeStreet Bank" -- Hilo Branch. This bank handles both business accounts and personal accounts for local banking customers. Business owners and downtown Hilo residents find it very convenient to handle their postal box needs, then walk across the side-street to HomeStreet Bank !
HomeStreet Bank is a Seattle, Washington banking corporation. This location used to be Pioneer Savings Bank during the 1990's. Most of the banks in this area have been shut down.

I have never received anything, but excellent, friendly service here. Unlike my previous bank, I get free paper statements because I'm 65+ and I receive 3 times the interest I did on my old checking account. The parking is a little funky, but no one's perfect.

The only reason this gets more than one star is because the customer service is good. This Bank absolutely is the worst Bank I've ever used. They don't have money when you need it, they lock you out of online banking, then when you call the number, it disconnects without getting to a human. Want to deposit a check? It takes 2 weeks to clear! You have to call in and beg them for cash, which they don't normally have over 5k. Just too many bad experiences here. Bank anywhere else.

There is no question that this is the worst bank in Hilo. I absolutely despise having to do any kind of business here. Grocery stores, restaurants, bars, and other banks are open for business, yet homestreet bank keeps there doors locked. They enjoy having the power to harass their customers and use it to their full legal capabilities. The employees at homestreet bank in Hilo do not like locals and that's why I do not feel at home there, I feel home sick.

I've been with this bank for about seven years and I signed up with them because they were easy to do business with and when you go there they're nice to you they call you by name they try to get to you as soon as possible and they usually let you know that they'll be right with you. I live in Hilo so it's very convenient for me but I'd say that the one downfall for some people would be that there's only one location and it is in Hilo but I know a lot of people that come in from Puna to go there I'd say stop by and check them out. They have a parking lot and they have on street parking near the post office. They're really good at monitoring accounts I did some traveling in September and I let them know what cities I'd be in they made note and as my card was getting used in different cities they knew it wasn't on a fraudulent basis

I have been with Homestreet for over 10 years. I love my bank. I have waited for a teller once, and that was not long. All the tellers have a smile and are always happy to fill out your withdrawal or deposit slips. Last week Saturday I got a text from Homestreet saying possible fraudulent purchase at Kroger's. It asked if I was making that purchase I replied no. Someone tried to use my card number but Homestreet stopped it. Cancelled my card and rushed a new card which I got today Thursday. I walked in to get my pin and Minei was very helpful and stayed beyond closing to help me out. I highly recommend Homestreet.

We love this bank! We moved our commercial account to this bank and have never once regretted it! All the tellers know us by name, they know our business and I never have to wait long. The online banking was difficult for me to set up alone as it was much different from my last bank. I went in and they were able to help me set it up on the spot! I have read some of the other reviews and it is unfortunate that they did not have the same experience as I did. I see these ladies at least once a week and always have received excellent service!
