I like it because it's one of the few dog friendly parks on the island so I'm a fan. Unfortunately, it's not fully enclosed and isn't off leash, so it's just for walking your dog on a leash. It's a disappointment. It also has big dips that gets soggy in the grass, so walking in the grass can be messy and muddy

Take my grandson sometimes. Lots of room for him to ride his bike or scooter. More Walkers on weekdays from 3pm to 6:00pm. But, very relaxing and people are friendly.

Nice park. Walked for an hour. Lots of puddles, but it is Hilo. Walk 9:00 am or before. Otherwise, it can get rather warm.

Review #9 for 2021. Machado Park is a great park to walk your dog and to get some fresh air and exercise, especially during the pandemic. I don't know what my family would've done this last year without this park! There's lots of space in the park for people to stay spread apart, and the paved trail is great too. Some nice park goers tie plastic bags on the bordering fence so that in case others forget to bring bags to pick up after their dogs, there are bags available. The grass is well maintained, and the surrounding neighbors are all really nice too. Parking is only allowed on the park side of the street.

Best park in Hilo for brisk walk (light jogging too), children to play around, and dog activities. Clean and well maintained.

Awesome path for walkers, joggers and runners. But the little gnats that fly into your face and get stuck on your sweaty face are the pits.

Great open area to take pets or to exercise, but there aren't any amenities or facilities on site.

Great place to go for a walk.. This is a dog park. Just put in a fence line. Parking is curbside. No bathrooms, just a rubbish can. Located in a residential area.
