New Management, Sunday Staff or I just had a bad day??? This was the worst experience I have had as this Home Depot in years. I am a contractor and a Pro Elite member. I only use the online ordering process when I have a big order that I want to have put all together so I can have it brought to me on a cart from in back somewhere or the more recent experience where I met someone at the loading area with a cart. I ordered 4 windows and a door. First, when I went to customer service with the big sign "Order Pickup", I was told I was in the wrong location, but he let me stay. There wasn't anyone at the "Right Location" anyway. Then when I give him my order he walks into the storage area and comes back 5 minutes later carrying the door... I asked him where was a cart and he said we don't have room to put things on carts here? I am thinking, why did I order online if I have to cart everything myself. I asked him to get a manager because I was pissed. So I had to go outside across the parking lot and find the right cart, which is never easy. Then he goes out and gets another cart. I then load up the cart myself, he loads up a second cart, and again I ask to talk to a manager. He finally calls her (I think) and she does not want to come to customer service. I can hear them arguing about her coming down and she obviously can't be bothered. Finally I said forget it and told them I was leaving. If she wasn't interested in coming to the desk then she wasn't interested in my opinion. Both the manager that day (Sunday) and the customer service guy are in the wrong jobs. I go to this HD multiple times during the week and the customer service staff are usually rock stars. Hopefully this is not a symptom of a larger problem like the other bad decision of locking the contractor entrance, time will tell.

We went in to look for leftover Christmas decorations. We ended up not finding any, but the guy that helped us out was so kind and tried to help us. He walked us around the very clean store to try and help and informed us that they didn't have any, but he also went above and beyond to look up other locations and called the stores to make sure. The parking lot was very busy and crowded so be careful when using it!

Don't call home depot and expect service over the phone, the girl answers with a plane soft spoken hello as if I'm waking her from a nap and no matter which department u ask for the phone disconnects so I call back, same answer and as I ask fir a manager she replies with "well I don't know what a manager is gonna do for you" and hangs up again

Long story short - on 12/03/23 I went in to purchase a dryer. Wendy & Lisa helped me in appliances. They were super professional and nice! Raquel helped me at check out and was super polite and helpful. I got a Whirlpool off the floor. Took dryer home, tried it, and unfortunately it sounded like it was about to take off. I took it back to Home Depot that evening (they give you 48 hours). I got there about 5:50PM with my 2 kids and the guy at the door said the store was closing in 10 minutes (earlier than usual because they close at 7PM). I went to the return & Raquel told me to go to appliances to order a new dryer then go back to returns and see Dayne to do my exchange. I went to appliances and James assisted me. He was super helpful, professional, knew his shit & was super nice. I ordered a brand new GE dryer (to pick up from warehouse), and he gave me a $50 discount off for the hassle. I apologized to him because the store was closing early and it was about 6:05PM. He told me don't worry about it, and that the store was just closing due to their store Christmas Holiday party. He told me that returns would still have to help me because I was still in the store. After that - I went to returns and saw Dayne. Told him I had a return to do and then a purchase. He told me that the store was closed. I told him that we have the dryer here in the unloading zone to return, someone needs to help me because I just came from appliances. He insisted that the store was closed. I told him that Raquel and James both told me to come see him for the return. He raised his voice and said that one of them could help me. I asked where the manager was and he didn't know. I told him someone needs to help me. Then he grabbed his blue flask, threw his arms down, yelled at me and said "I NEED TO GO!!!!!!". I was holding my kid in my arms when he did this. I then walked to the front of the store by the registers and told Raquel what had happened (I was pretty upset). She walked back with me to returns and assisted me. She apologized for his behavior and told me that even though the store was closing for a party, he should've helped me. She did my return and my new purchase within 5 minutes. She was super helpful, didn't rush to get me out of the store & was very professional. I asked for the manager and she told me that Donald was at the front of the store. As I walked out, I stopped and reported Dayne to Donald the store manager for that evening. I told him that I knew they were having a party but he still should've helped me. Donald apologized and said he would be talking to Dayne. I wanted to make this post so that people are aware of how rude Dayne is! The customer service I was provided with was tremendously rude & unprofessional. Especially because I had my kids with me. How dare he yell at me. Dayne should be written up or fired! What if I was a secret shopper watching how you do with customers? It shouldn't matter who I am! You work for a job like this, you help the customer till they leave the store. It wasn't like I was shopping around, I was being helped in appliances and then did what I was told for my return and purchase. I was very very upset with the way I was treated as I am a loyal customer to Home Depot! It made me more upset to see him working couple days later.....I was frustrated about having to get 3 dryers before it actually worked but, the customer service was what topped it! It was the worst! FYI....I got a Whirlpool, then a GE, then a MayTag. MayTag for the win!!! Third times a charm.

Home Depot what's going on, this the 2nd time. 1. I'm trying to purchase something and it's "out of stock". If that's it then why post its available on your website till you try to check out and it's "out of stock" 2. I tried to custom order a island online and the countertop I was interested in is "out of stock" 3. I go to the store to have in person customer service, put my name on the list and waited 50 minutes while this albizia wahine was chatting away with this guy about her Thanksgiving plans, yes I sat at the desk next to her so I heard it all. 50 mtf-in minutes. Even the sales associate in appliances told that chic twice we were waiting n she just looked at us up n down, snubbed us and continued talking. It's haoles (albizias) like her that make good haoles look bad. Bruuuhhhh I wasn't trying to get arrested cause lord knows I was ready to snatch her fat ass off that chair. Home Depot hilo check your lazy employees. They costing you guys money in possible sales.

On Thursday, 9/28/23, in the morning around 11:00, I went to your store to pick up 20 walkway stones and 10-50# bags of sand to complete a walkway. I will make this brief. I received no help getting the stones onto the flat bed nor pulling it to the front check from home and garden. Then, I was told I had to get another flat bed for the sand. So, over I go, and put the sand on my truck. I will give a nice young female employee credit for helping me with three of them. Back to checkout I go...and I will credit the two men who loaded my car for me. Have I mentioned yet that I am 73 years old???? I remember going to the original Home Depot in Atlanta in the 80's. It was absolutely prohibited that a customer touched merchandise for liability. Much less allow a Kupuna to pull 500# of stone and sand. I walked past many employees, asked for help twice, to no avail. This seems to be a common problem as evidenced by your low rating. Be careful, next person will be hurt. This takes the Do It Yourself notion in the wrong direction. Elise T

I do a lot of home improvement work here in Hilo and I can say with certainty that this Home Depot has the kindest and most helpful sales reps of any Home Depot I've ever been to. There are just good people. Alejandro was a big help when checking out making sure we had what we needed. Then there was Jojo. I was looking for a multipurpose tool and like most folks felt trapped by the brand. Once you invest in a brand you tend to stick to it because the batteries are so expensive. Since most of my home improvement work here is light, I went with Ryobi. I love their impact driver and saw, but unfortunately I do not like their multipurpose tool that requires a hex wrench. Jojo, seeing my confusion, asked what I was looking for and I explained in detail. She asked that I trust her and that there may be an opportunity on a close out. There on the endcap was a close out deal on a different high end brand that included a multipurpose tool. It also came with a driver, reciprocating saw, drill, two batteries and charger. It was a great deal (not much more than I would pay for a single tool!) and I put all the tools to use by days end. Thanks to Jojo I was able to get the job done, jump into a new line at low cost. She saved me time and money and you can't beat that. Plus, she's a good soul who really listened to what I needed. A+

The Home Depot has the largest selection of home items in town. They have great service, and their return policy is great.

This is in regards to the rental department. There was actually two of them that gave me trouble but the only one whose name I was able to catch was John. Both of them were older guys and extremely rude to me. I politely requested to borrow equipment for my project and I needed a truck to haul it off. First they said the equipment was all fine and ready to go but that all the trucks were rented out and to come back later. There were two trucks in the parking lot by the way. I came back later and they changed their story. This time the trucks were available but the equipment that was so-called fine was actually broken. So then I began to ask for an alternate piece of equipment to work on a different project and they straight up told me they didn't want to help me. John later told me in a baby-like voice to go home already. I was floored, these guys literally diverted $2,000 away from the Home Depot store. B and C cannot occur unless rented equipment does not perform Task A. That is $2,000 in revenue that Home Depot lost all because these guys wanted to be rude to me. The equipment for my project was supposed to pave the way for what I wanted to build. I can't purchase building materials for this project if the rental equipment cannot perform its function. That's $2,000 Home Depot!!! And my project was never even started. Not to mention the fact that I live on a different island than my land parcel. I also lost $1,000 in personal expenses purchasing the Flight, Hotel, and Rental Car. I lost $1,000 and accomplished absolutely nothing. Because once again, these two guys at the rental department wanted to be rude to me.

I spent more than $150.00 on a drill, and a screen door. The drill didn't drill holes into the metal door frame. When I went back for help they didn't have any one to help after telling me to wait for fifteen minutes. I'll get better help from my local, family run hardware store even if they have fewer choices.

The quality of care and customer service at the Hilo Home Depot is so awesome!!! Such a difference in attitude compared to the mainland stores. I had Jessica initially, who helped track merchandise that had arrived but was in warehouse storage still. She was fantastic. Each associate works together to ensure they find solutions. Pretty awesome! I recommend the Hilo Home Depot!!!! Read my other reviews for honest opinions.
