Anyone who thinks "nothing tastes as good as being thin feels" has never had a fruit-filled malasada from Tex's.Pictured here are banana, mango and guava.

Tex Drive-In is the halfway point on the way to Hilo, and the sweet malasadas and coffee are the perfect place to take a break!

Gross. Don’t get why this place has so many reviews, got the teriyaki loco moco and it was very salty and soggy. Fries sucked too

I took out the famous malasada. It costs $4.50 each, but it's quite large and heavy. You can choose from about 8 types of fillings, but they are all quite sweet, so be prepared!

Malasadas are soooo good. Personal favorite flavors are guava and plain. Def would recommend!

Excellent food, and definitely worth visiting. I gave 4 stars because there is an excessive amount of birdsin the odoor seating area and tables/seats were very dirty. Other then that I highly recommend

We had a large Bavarian cream malasada and a delicious pina colada fruit smoothie. The pina colada was small, but very tasty. It was hands down better than the chocolate milkshake (milk ice) I got there on my last visit. Definitely a great place to stop for any type of malasada!Dietary restrictions: I am celiac so must eat gluten free. Not much available for me. I was told that both the milkshake and the fruit smoothie were both gluten free. Next time I go I’ll have them take a picture of the ingredients. The pina colada fruit smoothie tasted too good to be true.

Best Malasada and old school Hawaiian Drive in. Most of the other food is serviceable. Location is beautiful and drive to get there is world class if it’s sunny.

Best malasadas in Hawai'i! We've tried LOTS of them and none compare to Tex.
