For a weekend there was plenty of parking, line want so bad and the clerks were moving the customers thru pretty quickly with friendly service.

Bought chocolate macadamia nuts and decided to go straight to post office and mailed it for Mainland US before it melts inside my car. There were ready available priority boxes to choose from. I always choose the medium rectangular box because I don't need to have sealing tape. The associates are courteous, friendly and very helpful.

If you're standing in an extremely long line for over 30 minutes I've been learned they didn't have the packaging I needed

No complaints. Service was great. Bring all the documents that's needed and you'll be fine. You also need two money orders. Call them, I forgot the amount. They can also give you a passport photo if you need it. I think it costs $18. I am getting my passport after only three weeks. Yes, three weeks after applying, I am getting my passport that fast during this pandemic. Don't expect my timeline though, expect the longest date that they give.

Our grandson, Dawson, turned 18 in Mar. 2020, and had an expired U.S. passport. Upon graduation, he needed to renew it so that he can rejoin his family in Toronto, Canada. Since he already had a passport, we thought it would be a routine passport renewal. Or so we thought. After completing the renewal application Form DS-82 that we downloaded at home, there was a checklist to determine that it would be a renewal if the answer is "yes" to the following 5 questions if your passport: 1. Is in your possession that is to be submitted w/ your application. 2. Is undamaged other than normal wear & tear. 3. Was issued when you were age 16 or older. 4. Was issued within the last 15 years. 5. Was issued in your current name or you can document your name change. As it turned out, question #3 was "no," as Dawson was 11 years old when his current passport was issued. Okay, so it's NOT a renewal & must be a new passport application Form DS-11 if the answer is "yes" for at least one of the 5 questions if: 1. You are applying for your 1st US passport. 2. You are under age 16. 3. Your previous passport was issued when you were under age 16. 4. Your previous US passport was lost, stolen, or damaged. 5. Your previous US passport was issued more than 15 years ago. As the answer is "yes" to question #3 that Dawson's passport was issued at age 11, then it IS a new application. Whew, had to read & re-read the requirements carefully to ensure that we were interpreting them correctly. After further reading, we learned that Dawson had a "limited validity" passport good for 5 years after the date of issuance because it was issued when he was under age 16. Note that nowhere on the passport is it designated that it's a "limited validity passport. This contrasts w/ a "full validity" passport issued to an adult 18 years or older & is good for 10 years from the date of issuance. Then we had to ensure that copies of all required documents were attached to the application: proof of US citizenship (birth certificate), government issued photo id (driver's learner's permit) + state of HI id, social security card, 2 color photos, & the fee payments ($110 application fee for passport & $35 for acceptance agent facility processing the passport application). And then there are requirements for the passport photos: no glasses, no head gear (hats, headbands), no uniform, business attire or collared shirt for photo, no exaggerated smile, & colored photo against a white background. When we finally determined that we had everything, we had to make an appointment w/ an agent facility to submit the application. These Oahu facilities include certain libraries, University of HI/community college locations, & post offices. We decided to do this at the Honolulu Passport Service at the Main Post Office at the airport by scheduling an appointment online, which was not a problem. So we head off to the main post office & stood in line. When we got to the counter, post office staff told us that it's not the post office itself, but a building on the other side of the block, which we had to drive to. Now, nowhere on the website does it state it's in another building other than the post office. Another couple with their daughter who was ahead of us did the same thing. So we show up at the right building. The agent in the front takes all our documents & goes through them. Yay, we have everything! Dawson takes a sworn statement, signs the application form, & two personal checks are written. We're told that the passport will be mailed to Dawson in 3 or more months due to Covid-19, which normally takes 4-6 weeks. (Expedited processing for an additional fee is not available during this time, which normally takes 2-3 weeks.) We're also told that getting an appointment was easy for us, as only about 10 applications are being submitted right now, as compared to 100 to 130 per day when families are planning their summer vacations abroad.

Walked-in on a Wednesday with my 2 kids. I made sure i have the other form since my spouse cannot be there in person. At 2 PM there was still a long line and we got called around 3:30 PM. The facility closes at 6 PM but at 4 PM they placed a sign that no more walk-ins. The lady who took us in was very nice. Just make sure you have the original and a photocopy of all the documents you have. I brought my 4 months old baby and the lady said that they don't take pictures of babies.. good thing I brought my own white blanket so she just placed my kiki on her stroller and use the white blanket as the background and it worked. They are using real camera in this facility unlike those canera they use at Longs or Sam's were they can only take one shot and that's it.. -and yes you can actually smile on your passport!! once you get called in to do paperwork everything is really fast. They accept cards I forgot if only credit or debit. My daughters' passports arrive after two weeks and it's just regular not expedite. They have plenty parking lot but in the afternoon there's barely any shades so you can also bring an umbrella if you want.

The last time I left America was for a semester abroad at the London Contemporary Dance School. It was cold and I ate an excessive amount of pastries, managing to return to Hawaii chubby even though I had danced for several hours a day and walked miles and miles. But that is not important. I have not had a passport for over a decade. This is an easy thing to do when you have three kids. You know, neglect to leave the country. Or your home. BUT, the 10-year-old secured a spot as a junior ambassador to Japan this coming summer and needed a passport. And due to the olympics and ticket prices, she needed a passport by the beginning of February. Boo on that part cause expediting is $60, but yay for the experience even though thinking about it fills me with anxiety. We went down a whole hour before it opened on a Friday because we are super smart and uninterested in waiting in line. Unfortunately, fifteen problem were even smarter than us and arrived even earlier. We didn't even make it on the bench. Why didn't we make an appointment? Because the next available appt was on January 17th. That is why. BUT, despite being sixteenth in line and the office having a shortage of agents, we were able to make it in after a mere less-than-two-hours and the process was very quick. The expedited passport arrived two days ago, which was super fast. One week. Am secretly hoping mine arrives oddly late so I can feel like the expedited fee was worth it. And yes, I also applied for a passport and soon will be free to travel To exotic places like Vancouver. Yes.
