I had storage with Ali'i for 30 years and in all that time I never had a problem. Helpful staff.

So I worked for this place until I could find a better job. And I will say straight up they DO NOT care for there storage units or the customers paying for storage units. They depend on propane sales. I'm not bitter or anything I just want ppl to know rats are or have been eating your belongings. People need to know especially during a pandemic...

I have stored stuff here for about 8 years now. At first, prices are really low; but it goes up incrementally. What I pay now, it's probably worth me leaving and paying a little more for a better storage place. The units are made of old busted up wood....inside is partical board which is flimsy wood-like material. So one time, the partical board dividing my unit from the unit next to me was broken, which didn't make the unit safe and secure. The owner of my neighboring unit could have easily broken the material even more and reached in to take my stuff. Also, because the outside of the units is old wood including the door, it's not always easy to open and close and gets stuck/jammed to the ground when you open it wide because the bottom of the door is not level. Even when you line up the metal bracket to loop your lock in, it doesn't line up. The units don't have lights. Even my unit is toward the back and the pathways themselves are not very well-lit especially if they don't raise the bay doors. It's kind of spooky, like you could get assaulted or raped back there when no one is around. Even the workers sometimes look questionable - one time one was making "hitting on" comments to me. The area is sketchy too. It's near nimitz so there are homeless and rift raft people there; but they do try to make it so no one has access to the units anymore by closing the outside gate that goes to the units. Now you have to go through the front office and use the door in there that goes out to the units. I do sometimes see the outside gate unlocked and a little ajar so this policy of people using the entrance from the front office is kind of pointless; and unauthorized people (like homeless), can still get in. More recently, there's been a bad case of rats. There was rat s*** all over my stuff. Luckily most of my stuff are in Tupperware type bins with lids; BUT STILL! When I brought this to the attention of the person at the front desk, they kind of just dismissed it and said they try to spray and kill the rats. When I suggested that they need to lower the price...and DEFINITELY not raise the price, the guy I talked to "put it on the owner" and casually said, "I will let the owner know but there's nothing I can do about your rate; we try to eradicate the rats buts it's hard." I don't think I should pay what I would be paying without rat s**** They need to lower the rate. Who wants rat feces on their stuff!?
