This branch has gone so down hill over the last 20 years. I still have 4 fraudulent charges for $16 posted to my account from some lady in California. I went in here trying to talk to a teller about the situation she told me to talk to the people at the desks so I'm sitting in the waiting area and this lady is cleaning her desk area then some white guy walks in and she helps him open an account. After about 15 minutes without being acknowledged the Filipina loan agent asks me what I'm waiting for and tells me that another employee can help me or call customer service. I just stood up and told I'll just go to another branch. Went to a branch downtown and the teller assisted me but the charges are still on my account three months later.By the way where are my Hawaiian Miles? I've been using my Hawaiian miles card for 15 plus years and still don't have any miles.I'm starting to think I should just bank with capital one or something BOH is absolutely horrible.

The manager was pleasant and clear but the teller had an attitude problem. She definitely needs more customer service training.

I have been trying to open an account for a MONTH!!!! I cannot do it online because I want to use cash, and when I went in they wouldn't accept my paper ID and sent me away! I had other documentation to back it up AND had to bus there just to be sent away! Change this policy! There is no reason to send away a state-given ID especially to someone who JUST turned legal! Shame on you! Pilau!

DO NOT... AND I MEAN NO NOT OPEN AN ACCOUNT WITH THIS BANK (OR ANY BANK OF HAWAII)... Unless you are a business owner. But an individual consumer? Forget it. Here are the reasons...1. Poor customer service/staff (depending on who it is) can be rude whether it's on the phone or in person. The older woman is absolutely rude (don't know if she's from Mexico or what).2. Always had a problem getting into my BOH mobile app. Always telling me incorrect password (when it's not), which doesn't make sense at all. OR the mobile app is "down" for whatever reason.3. FRAUD CHARGES!!!!4. Managers are useless because they're more focused on helping the "bigger" business and like to "imply" that it's the consumer's fault and like to deflect their incompetence on others.I closed my account with them and my new bank is way better than this useless bank. I do not recommend them with anyone. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.

TL;DR: *DO NOT BANK AT BoH IF YOU WANT TO DO ANYTHING OTHER THAN DEPOSIT YOUR PAYCHECK AND PAY YOUR MONTHLY BILLS*The only good thing I can say about BoH is that the customer-facing employees are very kind, nice, patient, and really do try their best. However, this is Hawaii so that pretty much goes without saying everywhere here, competency notwithstanding.I purchased a home in late 2022 and BoH was the only part of the process that was an absolute nightmare (and with no sufficient explanation given.) Near the end of the process, my family went on vacation as we were told we would be able to sign everything remotely from all involved parties. The process went fine until it was time to sign for issuing the down payment on the house to the lender, and this is where BoH nearly caused me to lose the opportunity to purchase the house at all the agreed-upon prices and interest rates. To make a very long story short-ER but not short:Despite banking with BoH for nearly 5 years and verifying myself multiple times on the phone, sending pictures of myself and my spouse holding various pieces of paper with signatures and identification cards (still don't know where those photos ever ended up at BoH), the bank ended up requiring that I cut my family vacation short and fly back to Hawaii from the mainland so that I could verify myself in front of them at the bank. Furious but desperate, I flew back to Honolulu and did exactly what they asked. At the counter inside of the bank, I verified myself to both the person at the counter and their supervisor and THEY STILL REJECTED MY REQUEST FOR THE DOWN PAYMENT ON THE HOUSE. They said my signature didn't match the signature they had on file (???), so I signed TWICE MORE right there at the counter and their "approval officer" (who was nowhere to be found and may not even exist, I don't know) rejected my signature again, and so while THREE EMPLOYEES watched, I forged my own signature from a piece of paper they already had on file. Somehow forging my own signature in front of them magically cleared the way for the down payment on the house.BoH absolutely sucks. So, I waited six months after purchasing the home to cancel my accounts. Now that I am trying to close my accounts and they have all of my current information including home address which hasn't been changed for six months now, they are still requiring that I write them a letter stating which accounts I want closed (ALL THREE), my personal information (which they have, obviously), and where to send the payment (the address on file would be nice.)Don't bank at BoH unless you only need to deposit your paychecks and pay your monthly bills. If you have any sort of wealth or financial plans, there is a good chance that BoH will just make your life and the process more difficult which is the exact opposite of what I am looking for in a bank.If I could give .25/5 stars I would. Awful banking experience.

To get there from keemoku you have to be in the very right hand lane to turn on to Kona street, then get a ticket from the parking attendant and validate your parking when you go in.

I decided to open a checking and savings account locally. I chose Bank of Hawai’i. I made an appointment online, which made it very easy for me. I arrived for the appointment and I had minimal wait time. Ryan was very professional, friendly and helpful.I have been back a few times and the other staff members are professional, friendly and helpful too. Thank you Nora and Lana.

Booked an advanced appointment at 9:30 AM for opening a new account and a discussion about possible mortgage/financing options. 30 minutes after our arrival, no one checked on us. No clear instruction whether someone will be seeing us at any moment. There is an apparent deficiency from customer’s experience. Perhaps short-staffed? Whatever the case, it will be more efficient to take your business elsewhere to get it done. A basic, simple, sit-down discussion seems less unattainable here. As for appointment, I would suggest anyone to skip the appointment process. Just show up and wait in line will save you more time.
