I am very pleased with the service at Block Advisors of Ala Moana. Ms. Ishitani was professional, efficient, knowledgeable, and friendly. She explained everything in detail and responded to my questions in clear terms. This was my first experience at Block Advisors and I will definitely return for filing my taxes next year or for any other tax-related matters.

It is March 2023 as I write this but my review is concerning my experience in March 2022. I have decided to take a full year to cool down after my horrendous experience in 2022. I had been a Block customer for over 3 decades starting at a Kaimuki location. When that closed I was referred to this office. The decor and atmosphere is nice and I liked it because of greater privacy in a separate office. I started with one agent who seemed to know what she was doing and was pleasant. After some years, she retired and I was assigned to May who was absolutely awesome. She was friendly and efficient. I returned to her year after year. When she retired things started going downhill. There seemed to be new people there every year. During covid isolation they suggested their drop off service which I used and was pleased since work was done within 3 days. So easy and stress free so I decided to do this for 2021. I was told to allow 1 week. After 10 days there was no response so I called and was told to wait another week. This repeated another 2 times! It was getting dangerously close to the deadline and I was stressed and having sleepless nights since I was thinking they were stalling because they lost my papers. I decided to make an in-person appointment to get things done with a different agent than the one I left my papers with. New person offered profuse apologies and said the original agent might have been intimidated by the amount of paperwork I had in that thick envelope. It was actually very little but I had left any and all "backup" papers just in case. Taxes were then done quickly. It cost a fortune and they did not offer a discount for my inconvenience and stress. I didn't care already and just wanted things done. Fast forward to the present-- I went to another tax prep place since I still have bad feelings about Block and will never go back to them again. New preparer pointed out some things from last year that were "wrong" and caused me to pay more tax. New preparer cost me less too. DON'T EVER GO TO THIS H&R BLOCK OFFICE!

My husband and I did our taxes today with Edna M. Colon and she was super patient and nice. By far the best tax advisor I have ever met. We have no idea about taxes and she went through everything we needed to know with a lot of patience. She is very polite and kind. I would definitely come back to H&R because of her.
