Literally the worst place to rent from. USE TURO!!! They gave us a car with expired tags. When trying to call them to get a replacement, it gets sent to a call center in India. You can never talk to an agent that is locally in Hawaii. The call center can only advise to take the car back to agency.... illegally. How can a large rental company not keep their vehicles up to date with proper paperwork? Again, USE TURO

Our recent experience with Budget at the airport was great! We arrived on a Thursday around 2pm. There was a line, but it moved at a pace that is expected when being assisted with a car rental. Turow was our agent. We were called over with an Aloha and a smile. He was very friendly, courteous and ensured we understood our pricing with additional options such as insurance, etc. Thank you Turow for your excellent service! We got the car we reserved and retrieving our vehicle was very easy and seamless. The jeep was thoroughly cleaned and exiting the parking lot with the QR code was a breeze. Returning the vehicle was also just as easy! Pulled up, left the keys in the car and went on our way. Thanks again for a great experience!

Second car in 3 days that have given us problems. First car, looked like a local special...bust up but only option.Car tire burst on a paved road, took 1 hour for road service and we are supposedly responsible for paying for the blown up tire service.Next day, new car, better car. Now sitting in parking lot with a dead battery. Again, we are supposedly responsible for the battery service.Not to mention the time we have spent on our vacay dealing with 2 broken cars. Precious rental/vacay time that we can never recoup.I don't think Budget is my way of travel.True, price was right but loss of time was priceless in a negative way.Horrible experience! Rethink how you want to spend your vacay time.... Not to mention added fees to horribly maintained cars.

I dont recomend it they told me 291 is my total and wanted to charge me in store 370 After going back and forth and talking to the manager my total was 291 I thought that was all done and after returning the car she kept insisting I told her they took what they said and everything was ok . But she kept pushing oh surprised I got charged an extra 165.65 . I was so mad but I was on my flight back, horrible. Ps car was not in good condition.

Not sure what all these negative screams are about. Tell you a secret, go sign up for Fastbreak and you will thank me later. I got off the plane and received an email from Budget right the way. I went across to Terminal 2 where I could select a car out of the four. I got a free upgrade and got a beautiful good condition Honda Pilot. I scanned the license with my phone and it’s ready to go. Returning cannot be easier ! I am a happy customer from my experience. Also, staff is super friendly and nice !

Our recent experience at the Budget rental at HNL left much to be desired. We arrived at the airport at 11 AM, excited to start our vacation, but our enthusiasm quickly waned.The issue primarily revolved around the extensive wait in line. There were approximately 50 people in front of us, creating one of the most agonizing queues we've encountered. After a seemingly never-ending wait, we finally completed the rental car paperwork at the counter, and the clock had already ticked to 12:47 PM.

Horrible rental! Didn’t get the full sized car that I rented. They said they upgraded me to a Jeep that for a 62 disabled veteran was too hard to get in and out of, which I asked them about at the counter. Had to drive back the next day to get another car. Was given information for a car that wasn’t even there!! Then I was given a dented up KIA that didn’t drive well, the steering wheel shook & the front tire shook. It had large dents all over the car as well but I was told that it’s either this car or I’d have to wait an extra hour+. Horrible experience!! I should get a refund for all their blunders and I didn’t get the full sized car that I paid for!

SPEND YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE. DO NOT COME HERE. SPEND THE COUPLE EXTRA DOLLARS AND GO TO AVIS OR ENTERPRISE INSTEAD! I booked here through costco travel, and it came out to a good price for 5 days total. But upon driving the vehicle I see why the price was so cheap, they are not servicing their vehicles properly before renting them out to customers!!! The first vehicle I got the oil needed to be changed soon after 2 days of driving! And I would of kept it as is, but if you are driving to Oahu its an hour to hour and a half one way. And the brakes were extremely squeaky and needed to be changed. The employees at the check in counter are kind and will help you, but the issue is not their customer service, but budget’s lack of care and attention to servicing their vehicles. I had to drive to Budget to get a new car, upon which the employee upgraded me without charge for the inconvenience, but then upon inspecting the vehicle it ALSO was due for an oil change. The third vehicle I received didn't have any major issues, but the windshield wiper fluid was low. I will also say the majority of the staff that are outside upon arrival when you drop off the vehicles were extremely rude! This is all unacceptable, and the line upon arrival was LONG! Try AVIS or ENTERPRISE instead, Avis had a short line and Enterprise has never let me down, it will be worth the couple extra dollars in difference a day to go elsewhere than to deal with the inconveniences and waste of time.

Upon return/dropoff of vehicle (WNR 656 - grey Nissan Rogue) on Sept 21st 2023, the lady staff took over my rental and hurriedly drove off and away after I thought I had completly removed all items. Only on board the plane some few hours later did I noticed that my recently bought in July 2023 TomTom 6" GPS satnav (valued @ €350) was actually still stuck to the front windscreen. I have now no idea on how to call the desk to request retrieving it. I hope that Budget will offer recovering it and dispatch it to me asap, thank you.Update: I have since, as of yesterday, recieved confirmation by Budget Honolulu that my GPS unit has been found and arrangements are underway to be shipped out & delivered to my home through Fed Express. TQVM Budget, Hawaii. ???I feel confident in returning to Hawaii and of course, pick up another SUV again to tour the island(s) on our next sail in the near future.?????

We switched from a different rental car company to Budget and have used this site several times. It's been a very easy to rent the car online, find the rental place at the airport and return the car at the end. We have been pleased with the cars we have received each time and returning the cars have been quick and easy.

This was at the Honolulu Airport location: a) about a 2-hour wait in line before reaching an agent to get a reserved car; b) a week into the rental a general warning light popped up and I opted to get a replacement car; c) interior surface of the replacement car's front windshield was hazy/dirty; d) the police pulled me over for driving a car with expired tags. I was not cited because it was a rental, but I was told to notify Budget of the issue. Being pulled over by the police is never a good time, even if you're left off the hook. I've decided to avoid Budget and pay a bit more for better service and experience.

We arrived at the rental office at 1130am. It's 1:15p now. The line continues to grow yet there is only 3 people at the counter. Do anyone at the company pay attention to their reservation volume? I understand that good customer service need to be provided but that does not just include having a conversation with the customers, it includes providing efficient services meaning a customer should not have to wait 2 hours in line. There are more than 10 counters yet it's only occupied by 3 service people. This is not a good way to really keep customers from being happy and wanting to continue coming back. At this point I already moved on to another rental car place and paid for the service that provides efficient service as well.

I would never rent from this location ever again. After a five hour long flight, I don't want to spend two hours waiting in line and then waiting for a reserved rental car. I'm not sure if they are just short staffed or they understaff but if you know you have a busy location it would make sense to have more employees working and a better system for the car's. Once you finally make it through the line then they need to go have your rental cleaned and washed. All the other rental car locations in this area seem to have their lines moving but this location is terribly slow. The staff were nice, but operations are awful. Don't rent from Budget or Payless as they are combined..

DO NOT BOOK WITH BUDGET! We had a truly terrible experience. We waited in line for almost 2 hours; there were only 4 people working and approximately 50 people in line. I have never waited that long in my life for a simple rental car. When we finally got up to the front, we got the WORST customer service I have ever had from the agent. We requested to remove the insurance we pre-paid for, and we told we were not able to because we "pre-paid". This was not obvious when we booked- we only pre-paid because the Budget website made it seem like this would be a time saver (a complete lie). We were told we should have thoroughly read the terms and conditions (because everyone does that of course). Then when the agent asked for my ID to be a 2nd driver, he rudely told us that we pre-paid for a 2nd driver already, but that we didn't need to pay because I was a spouse. We said that was not obvious when we booked and asked if that could be refunded since, he rudely said no, and that we should have read the terms and conditions. Are you kidding me? When we finally finished with the agent, we thought we could be on our way. We got up to the parking garage and were told it would be another 30 minutes before our car would be ready. At this point, we were so incredibly frustrated.Because of this this experience and the way we were treated, I will never be booking with Budget again. We have also shared this story with several friends and family and warned them against using Budget due to their terrible policies, shady and deceptive booking practices on their website, terrible management of their branches, and Zero effort for the customer experience.

Picking up the car was a easy and a calm process especially travelling 15hours. Reliable and vaule for money car options. Just be mindful of car damages as car had scratches on the left passenger door and car wasn't clean properly. As I found left over rubbish in the back seat compartments and peanut slabs. However either than that, it was a great over all experience
