Don't ever rent from here! I paid almost a 1000 a night for a hotel in Hawaii, all for us to be stuck here the entire day waiting for a car. Legit took us 4-6 hours just to get a car. I've never witness a business ran like this. I feel bad for the workers as they only had a few people working and had over 50 people waiting for cars which I feel like was out of their control. They need to fix the system they have set up. I Never had to wait 4-6 hours just to get a car. On top of that no one wanted to give me a refund. Kept going back and forth with dollar and Priceline. They should at least have a sign or tell people ahead of time that the wait will be 4-6 hours instead of waiting in a line for 1-2 hours just to get downstairs and find out you have to wait another 4-5 hours. Could of saved a ton of time going to another rental next door. Crazy ! Never again.

We booked a 4-door rental car online to pickup at 1pm, and ended up waiting 4 hours to pick it up. When we got our car, it was a 2-door car, which was very inconvenient. We ended up just going with it because it would be an even longer wait for the correct car. BTW Dollar, Thrifty, and Hertz are all run by the same parent company. I'm sure they all have scammy business practices, like overbooking. I recommend staying clear of all of these companies.

The entire rental car process was smooth sailing. The exact location of this main location at HNL airport is easy to find and the staff are very friendly. The car rental daily rates were affordable. All the costs on the invoice were explained clearly to me by the clerk when I was picking up the car. The rental car itself was clean, new, and well taken care of. My 2023 Nissan Altima was nearly spotless when I picked it up. The return process was smooth and quick. All-in-all this is my favorite rental car experience on-island.

What a joke , there are over 60 people here waiting for cars on a Saturday 1:30pm, and they open only one counter with one person here to serve all these people , and each person is taking 10 mins, I guess I will be stuck here for few hrs , I'm so regret that I did not read this store review before booking , stay away if you don't want to waste half of your day here in Honolulu , should have just Uber to hotel then book my car outside from other company

If I can rate a 0 would be better. The customer service rep is very rude, unfriendly and doesn't know how to talk to people. Why don't work customer service if you not a people person? I don't recommend this place. It was an all around horrible experience! They never had the car I reserved and told me I can choose a van. I wanted the Nissan Pathfinder and I had to go to my Uncle's funeral and the representative was not very helpful at all! She's very condescending and I cannot. I don't recommend this place to anyone.

what a nightmare! 10 terminals with only two employees and 100 people in line. Do not come here! It’s not worth it! Do not start your Hawaiian vacation waiting in line for 2 1/2 hours to get your car while the glacially paced employees try to upsell you on insurance or whatever and lollygag with each customer., it might end up being 2 hours in this line after a nine hour flight

Long wait to get car.Slow staff. Not enough staff.When i got into car and drove off- at the gate found out the car registration will expire in 4 days so had to return car ( attendant was not attentive to details that i had a rental for 12 days).Second car- engine light was on with low pressure wheel- had to unload AGAin. The attendant said “ are you comfortable driving that?” I said No!!! What kind of poor management and liability is this.3rd car i complained. Gave me a car. It had a sticky dirty sugar stain. After i asked for it to be cleaned- he said “ is this good enough for you?”. As if i am asking for too much! Terrible DOLLAR is a big scam! I will post this on google and YELP for this awful experience at honolulu hawaii airport pick up date 10/26/23.

Make sure you know what you are signing. I was charged for insurance I did not want. When I asked why my charges were so high they said it was due to taxes and fees. My personal car insurance and my credit card cover rental cars. I was tired due to multiple flights delays and should have known better. I still felt that this was shady. They don't care. I useTo use dollar for business all the time and never purchased the insurance. They didn't care to look at past usage or that maybe they had made a mistake. Just said too bad I signed for it .

Got here at 10 pm, no line whatsoever, got the paperwork done and the car in 10mins. The lady who helped me out even recommended a lot of local restaurants to me. If you got here and they are packed, just remember people need time to do their jobs.

The Honolulu HI location is so under staffed the dollar agent suggested I leave a bad review. I had to stand in line over an hour as they didn't have enough agents. Other rental car companies had little to no lines at this location. After finally getting through the check-in line, we headed to the garage to find a huge crowd and was told it could take another hour before my car was ready. The dollar employee said the cars were there, just no one to clean or drive them. That's it. Never again. Dollar does not deserve your business.

Automatically load you up with all the insurance coverages at an additional $400 Most people don't know your credit card covers you and your own personal liability coverage carry over to rentals. Check your ins provider prior and don't get shafted.The people in the basement are rude, girls in the window don't want to be bothered, point you to a row of cars and say pick one while staring at their phones.

Been here 2 times during my stay on Oahu. Pickup process was quite speedy. First time we received and upgrade. second time car was not really clean and heavily used. Forgot to remove Apple AirTag from the car keys. Lost and Found service is very poor. Can locate the device inside Dollar building. Online form and on-site service are not helpful. Staff was also quite unfriendly when asking about lost and found processes

Queued behind about 8 people.Waited in line probably +60min… for a process that only took about 5-7 mins. I don’t really know what for. We had a reservation but maybe people ahead of us were “window shopping?”/Walk-ups for their rentals? Maybe clear your reservations first?! Get the fastest customers dealt with and out of the way?… separate the lines so people who actually planned ahead don’t have to wait for someone to weigh all the options and register etc.They seemed very unorganized. The teller would help a customer for at least 10minutes, then run off to fetch a car, then shuffle cars around in the prep lot. There was 2 Lot attendants but they wandered off. Other companies just give you the keys and you find the car on your own (it’s not difficult, ie sedans: row 4, click the key fob)Why not honour the reservations first?
