Everything I ordered was conveniently out!!! A party member that was with us asked for a spoon The server said they have no spoons, then bought a spoon after they herd us talk about them not having a lot of items… wouldn’t recommend this place, very limited items.??

I had a Poke Sampler for $22. There are 3 types of poke and the amount of rice is not enough for the poke. It seems like a lot because it's in a bowl, but there isn't much rice. Now $22 is expensive. The taste is also food court quality. The vegetables included are slightly chopped green onions and onions that look like small pieces, and are cut to a size that doesn't suit poke, which is not at all careful. Waikiki's tuna spot is better suited for Japanese people in terms of poke and the type and combination of vegetables. Looking at the reviews, it seems that some locals are a little angry that poke that used to cost $14 is now $22. There are comments saying that the store has been renovated, so I understand why they are raising the prices, but the content hasn't kept up, so I don't think this is a good idea. I feel that if the vegetables were better served and there was a choice between large and small, more customers would come. I drove all the way from Waikiki because the reviews were good, but I was disappointed. The package of disposable chopsticks I received was a little dirty with soy sauce or something, and when I opened it, I found it unpleasant to find used chopsticks inside. In terms of cleanliness, the server wasn't the type of person who really noticed. That's also the reason why the score dropped for the service.

I was so excited to try out this place after snorkelling, but the food was so disappointing, it tasted like food court quality. I wish the reviews on this place were more honest.

Amazing food and great service! We were on vacation and didn’t realize the lobby had closed but they let us sit and eat. We appreciate them allowing us to do that! Would recommend this to anyone traveling!

Kalua pork not bad, everything else just ok. Service was pretty terrible. Would seek out another spot for local food.

Good food, but seems to have been upscaled, so more expensive and no longer counter service.

A local plate lunch restaurant with several locations. At Hawai’i Kai stores, you can also eat inside.I wasn't in the mood for meat today, so I ordered Fried fish with Tartar. It's simple: 3x fried white fish, 3x scoops of rice, and a bit of cabbage. Or rather, can you eat 3 scoops of rice with this? The content is. . .In this case, it would have been better to have Fish and Chips...As expected, I could only eat about half of the rice. However, the fried fish was juicy and quite delicious. It would be nice if they could think of a few more side dishes, but that's just how it is at a plate lunch restaurant in Hawaii.

Prices have almost doubled in less than a year, most the positive reviews are based on before this major increase

I would not recommend coming here for local food. Since the renovation, Fatboy's Hawaii Kai has jacked their prices up SKY HIGH.For context, I've grown up on the island all my life. My favorite item was the haleiwa bowl (kalua pig, garlic chicken, poke, kim chee, and rice all in one bowl). As recently as early 2023, the price for that? $12.99 or roughly $13.60 with tax. Now, in early 2024, it's 22 dollars, or roughly $23 with tax. That's an increase of ~70%! Most entrees are now easily $20+ when they were $10-$14 before. In addition, they make it absolutely clear that if take out, you MUST eat it outside, which is a change from the previous casual atmosphere they had. To be fair, they did change their business model to a more formal diner style. There are still some green picnic tables out there that you can eat at.To their credit, the portion sizes still look pretty big. However, these prices are just straight up unaffordable, and are alienating to the local customers who have been eating here for years (and in my parent's case, decades). I went a few days ago and all the clientele were tourists, which speaks volumes about who exactly is showing up to eat here and what locals think about this place. I very much understand that the restaurant is in Hawaii Kai (a wealthy area), and that the store just had a renovation. But to jack up your prices by almost SEVENTY PERCENT more than what you used to charge? That's ridiculous. Again, I totally understand they've changed their business model to target a wealthier clientele, but this is just disrespectful to folks who have been eating here for years.I've been warning my local friends to stay away. You should too.

Finally got around to trying out Fatboys in hawaii kai. It's really nice and very clean. We got lucky arriving just after 5pm, we were the first ones in and had the place to ourselves for a little while. Very roomy, enough space for our stroller. The beef stew was delicious and great for this weather, the garlic chicken was also really good. Can't wait to try other items off the menu.

There is an older woman working here who was openly chastising a young girl working along side her .. it was hard/sad to watch. We ordered several things for takeout while sitting at the counter, I opened my poke bowl to take a bit before we left and the older woman came and told me not to eat my Togo order inside and that we had to leave. Saturday January 27th Noon Note to owner on below comment: I understand your policy. My plan wasn't to eat inside, it was to take a bite before leaving. The issue is the older woman snapping at me within one second of opening my container. She is giving off a really unpleasant atmosphere. I hope she finds happiness and is just having a bad day. Give that sweet counter girl a raise!

This place was a MUST after snorkeling in Hanauma Bay. The garlic soy chicken, the loco moco, and the strawberry mango smoothie hit the spot! The chicken was SO crispy omg, and bonus, they had crispy chicken skin tossed in there! The staff is nice, the place is clean! Don’t be the person to just go there for a grilled cheese. Get the loco moco or the crispy garlic chicken plate lunch. You will not be disappointed. Get a smoothie to cool off, I wanted 3 more lol.Parking: Big free parking lotKid-friendliness: Kid friendly options like the keiki meal, and standard grilled cheese and tater tots combosWheelchair accessibility: Wide open doors for accessibility, ground floor place
