It's a pleasant spot to visit. Entrance is free. But collection is not big. You can spend there 25-30 mins at most.

Encourage children to tip half-naked bottom dancer is nothing family friendly, educational nor anything related to art. It shows that this museum has no funding to do what they were founded to do.

Capitol Modern (formerly HiSAM) is a part of the Art in Public Places Program of the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts, a state government agency. Museum admission is always free. Located on the second floor of the No. 1 Capitol District building, a short walk from Iolani Palace.
