The best meal we have ever had was at Hihimanu. The decor is understated, but Chef Ray is a superstar. The meal is a robust sensory experience and each dish is complex and beautifully presented. It was truly an elite dining experience with fresh fish from all over the world, imaginative flavors and interactive elements, and friendly service. Worth every penny!

Outstanding all the way around - Chef Ray and his team are masters at the art of omakase. Every dish was delicious - a unique journey each plate. The sake selection was also amazing - sake sommelier; curated by his better half. :-) Even the green tea was delicious. Lovely, intimate setting - only 10 seats. Food and presentation worthy of Michelin stars. Be forewarned- arrive with an empty stomach because it's over 18 courses - you will not leave hungry and wanting for more!

It is my favorite place for omakase; 18 courses plus desert and a shot of sake on the house. Always fresh and very expensive ingredients. Chef Ray is great to talk to along with the other customers. Fantastic sake list, a number of hard to find sake. I go for the 7:30pm seating since there is always lots of parking at that time. If you are visiting or just want great omakase, definitely try Hihimanu.

I have had several excellent dining experiences at Hihimanu Sushi. Chef Ray's creativity is unmatched. He uses the freshest and finest ingredients to create extraordinary dishes. I look forward to my next meal here.

I've been to many Omakases all over the world including a few in Japan as well as another in Oahu. Hihimanu is not the most traditional style, but it is by far my favorite omakase of them all. The flavor combinations, presentation, atmosphere, and friendly chefs, Ray and Makana, made this omakase excel all the others. Cost is above average, but definitely worth it. 18 courses plus dessert. I'm a big fan of quality Uni and they did not skimp on it. Everything was so fresh. They educated us on each dish and kept it fun and entertaining. Strongly recommend making reservations here weeks in advance!

To be straightforward this is one of the best Omakase places we have had. You can tell the owner/chef is really passionate about his job. So the experience is unique. The price is a bit expensive, but it’s worth it based on what is included in the dishes, especially if you’re one that prefers quality over quantity.

Amazing experience. Chef Howard does not disappoint. He walks the walk and talks the talk. Besides his omakase experience, he enhances his dishes with his sense of humor. You won't leave his establishment without a great time! One advice, make sure you offer the Chef a drink or two! You might get a surprise! Kampai!

An intimate experience with two sushi chefs crafting unbelievable sushi dishes from scallops to king crab to all kinds of different fish from mainly Japan but also around the world. Both of the chefs were extremely knowledgeable and happy to tell us what dish we were enjoying. We'll definitely be back.

Our favorite omakase in HNL. Unique combinations and very high end ingredients. If you can splurge, go to the dinner session. Uni, caviar, alaska crab...well worth it. Lunch is very good also. Request for the left side of the counter, that's where Chef Ray constructs the sushi, assistant chef is on the rt side. Chef interacts w/ his customers, unlike at some other omakase where the chefs hardly say a thing. We always enjoy our time here.Parking: Lot is small so go early, well before your time slot.

Best Omakase in Hawaii. We've been to many different sushi bars but this is definitely the best. Excellent seafood selection with expensive ingredients. Superb sake list. Excellent service. Will definitely return.

Immaculate, breathtaking, memorable,.. best omakase and perhaps best meal of my life? I really don't have the words. Chef Ray is so innovative and meticulous with his details. Making your own salt from dehydrated she so leave? Check. Making another type of salt from the dehydrated scales of a fish that turned out actually pretty sweet? Check. The surprises go on and on... Splurge out a pretty penny for this memorable treat.
