Upon picking up our Hui rental, we found that the car was dirty, there was trash and sand throughout the entire vehicle as well as dents and scratches on both the interior and exterior. There was also ants crawling
around the dashboard and the last time we rented with HUI it was also infested with ants. We reported these problem immediately upon arrival and sent in a review about one week ago and no one has contacted us to reconcile. The cost of the HUI (which was more expensive than most rental cars) did not reflect the quality of the experience. We have tried contacting hui multiple times in the past week in multiple different ways however have not been acknowledged in any way.

Prices are absurd. Can rent a car from a normal company for considerably less.

Not good. Once you reserve you are charged. We needed for a day trip and the check engine light kept coming on and it idled rough. Out of caution we brought it back 4 hours early. We were still charged full price . When we contacted customer service they did not apologize or offer a partial refund. When asked about a partial refund they said there is nothing they can do. For a trip longer than an hour it would be much cheaper to use traditional rental companies.

While I like the idea of Hui, the execution and support are less than ideal.
Using the App to firstly locate the vehicles was problematic. Location descriptions were not descriptive enough, especially given one needs to go to a specific entrance in a parking garage and go to a specific floor. Once at the location, reserving the vehicle, you need to pay attention to every detail, as the default for rental period is 10 mins. While I can appreciate that you can rent for 10 mins, if you mistakenly go past this, there is no way to correct and add time. Also had to wait for the exact time on the rental before the vehicle is unlocked. Note to others, factor that into your timing.
If you need support. Good luck. I tried to contact support and even sent a request after the fact. Nothing, Zip, Zero !
The reason for 2 stars is that the vehicle itself, while nothing luxurious was clean, and reliable.
Value ? you are likely better off renting from the major car rental agencies. I had the vehicle for less than 5 hours and could have used an agency for less cost.

First time use Hui car share ! After 10 mins on the phone support I am able to figure out how it works . My rental area is underground so it is a bit tricky to open the car . I was using a newish Toyota Prius. It is the perfect car to cruise around Oahu . I am also able to return on time . They also have an extension option . Overall it is not bad . 2 hours for $40 . Hassle free no but once you understand the app logic , it is quite easy . The only thing I could complain will be the cleanest inside however it is a common problem for car share program . Mahalo !

I've been a loyal Hui user for years (since before the pandemic), but after this experience, I will never use their service again. I was wrongly charged $1,000 for damage I did not cause to a vehicle I rented for 1-2 hours. I returned the car to the public parking lot in the same condition I received it, yet overnight, I received a vague email saying damage was found without evidence of photos, timeline, or proof.
The cars are equipped with in-car camera (which they say they have) hanging from the rear-view mirror. When I asked customer service for footage from the in-car camera or reports I was told to email the support team, billing team, and customer care team. I called multiple times and was met with silence, they simply pushed the charge and restricted my account.
This is not how you treat paying customers. If Hui wants to be taken seriously, they need to take responsibility for clear communication and fair investigation.

We used HUI 2 times during our stay in Honolulu! With the price of parking $80 a day at our hotel this made the most sense! It was so convenient to just go grab the car for a few hours, hit the other less crowded beaches and bring it right back to its spot. Did have to call customer service one time and they were super helpful. The negative reviews really surprised me here! We will absolutely use again and highly recommend

Worst customer service. Did not have any answers about approval and was not helpful with solutions.
Even when you download the app card are not available or it’s the same price as a rental car from the airport for only couple hours. Waste my time

Writing this on Valentines Day. We grabbed a quick Hui to accommodate a friend that wanted to borrow our Truck for an errand. We have used Hui before and saw past the poor maintenance for the convenience and price and good service. Today however was a disaster unlike any we had with a retail company. About 5 min away from the location that APP starts telling us time is up and we must return to where we got it and can not drop at our Hui destination we were headed to. We immediately started calling with no answer customer service. First an answering service called us back after about 30 minutes but say they can do nothing but take a message and empathize that lots of upset customers are constantly calling about Hui. An hour into traffic HUI calls us, Sarah claims she is the owner of the company and that we must circle back to where we got the car
or she will charge us $500 plus plus plus. She would not listen to a word we said. Would only threaten us with charges more charges if we did not return the car to where we got it. She just hung up and when we called back yelled at us and hung up again. We could hear similar conversations going on in background. This company had decent customer service a while ago but it is clear from the many furious comments on yelp; Hui and Sarah are a menace. Clearly they are running scams on tourists and locals and that they are getting away with changing the service and up charging people is crazy. Sadly my beautiful and kind woman wants no drama or bad will and is driving an hour back in traffic to return the car and Uber back to the party waiting for her at the beach. On Valentine's Day! I hope that Sarah and Hui and the actual parent company Servco get what they deserve. Not For Nothing, it's a huge red flag when the company has no names employees on LinkedIn! Tell me you're a scam without saying you're a scam! I hope the City Attorney looks into them and Marie is the reason robbers like these get shut down. Obviously this company has changed and should be avoided at all costs. It is not if but when it will go bad for you. The comments say it all!

This was my first Hui care share, and the experience was pretty bad overall. Hui is a great idea with poor execution. Here are some of my many complaints:
The car had numerous dents, scrapes, and chips, but the Hui app failed to record my many attempts to provide photos and descriptions. Very glitchy app, and a huge waste of paid rental time!
The car did not have a standard USB port to plug in my phone! Bluetooth communication with my phone was required to lock, unlock, and start the car, but I did not have a way to recharge! I had to stop at a cafe to recharge my phone so I could continue to use the car.
The car’s screen flashed a “maintenance required” message throughout my rental time. I had no idea what was wrong or whether I would make it home.
Customer support was near zero. After very long waits on hold, an answering service would take the call, but unable to actually answer any questions, only refer them to a mysterious Hui customer service office that never called back. Useless!
I can’t imagine using this service again, or referring it to anyone I know. It’s a mess.

Reading all the negative reviews I was apprehensive at first to use Hui Car. Since I only needed a car for a few hours I decided to give it a try. I picked up my rental which was a Prius Prime Hybrid at the Hyatt Centric Waikiki Beach parking lot without any issues after reading ahead of time what I needed to do to unlock the car. My rental was in a pretty clean condition. I mainly used the car to go to Diamond Head and some surrounding areas and had no issues locking and unlocking the car. However I can’t speak to what happens if you are in an area with no reception or service. Reading the reviews I know that Hui Car can be hit or miss but luckily my experience with them was positive.

Car was hard to find. Was ok condition. Process was expensive and overly complicated. Much cheaper options for more than an hour or so. Fuel car didn’t work. Had to pay for own fuel.

Just go rent a car or uber!
I will never recommend !!! I cannot say enough negative things about this company! Just don’t do it!
