I walked into Kate Spade on 1/5/24, with a clear purpose: to purchase an Apple Watch band. The process was swift as I found a black one I liked and paid the full price within 7 minutes of entering the store.While the gal with a Stitch tattoo greeted me warmly and provided excellent service, my experience took a negative turn with an older Asian gentleman. His evident disgust, as he glanced at my denim romper, bun hairstyle, Tory Burch Bag, and tattoos, was unsettling.To add to the discomfort, I noticed the immediate locking of the doors by the security guard while I was making my purchase. This incident mirrors the accounts of others from the Bay Area, like myself, who have encountered profiling. As a Sales executive with a decent income, I expected better treatment and hope the store addresses such issues promptly.

Great shopping experience, and Oaklea was so gracious and helpful. I will make this store a regular stop on any trip to Waikiki.

This review is a long time coming- because I was so angry and sad after visiting this store. Background: my boyfriend and I were in Honolulu during Christmas 2021. We are both professionals from the Bay Area California (I'm a nurse and he's in tech). We walked in the store after walking to the beach, me in a sundress and he was in shorts and a polo. I'm Caucasian while he in Chinese, both in our 30s. I insisted on going inside to shop Kate Spade because I love her stuff. We went inside, were greeted by the store clerk, one store clerk commented that she loved my bag (Kate spade purse) and seemed friendly. Shortly after that I turned to browse and my boyfriend saw the other store clerk whisper to the security guy. There were multiple floors and we went browsing with the security guy following us. And when I mean following I mean once when I turned around I almost tripped on his feet because he was so close. Followed us everywhere in the store. After 5 min I felt uncomfortable and left. I left and was upset, and my boyfriend just shrugged and said it's happened to him lots of times. Being a Caucasian woman this was my first time dealing with this but after talking to some of my other friends with color it happens a lot. I will never ever go back here and honestly I haven't wanted to buy anything Kate Spade since this happened. There was absolutely no reason to follow us so closely in the store. I hope this is a rare occurrence at this store but I have a suspicion that it's not.

kate Spade store upon entering you are greeted by a very nice sales lady. The store is bright and cheerful.The selection of purses are nice I liked the ones on-the second floor. There was a wrapped candy purse I really liked. Prices are normal- I was looking for an island one. They were out.

The girls were so lovely, friendly, and helpful!!!! So sweet! Was able to get a piece from the Hawaiian collection so that made it even more special!!! A 2 story location- lots of inventory. Such a wonderful experience!!!

The sales associates here were rude and overbearing. I had on a kate spade back pack that I bought from the outlet. When I said I love Kate Spade and pointed to my back pack, The sales associate said, “oh that’s from the outlet. Yeah the leaves were from the outlet. That didn’t come here, just the outlet” and then explained the difference. Lol girl I know it’s outlet, I’ve worked at Kate Spade. I’ve bought from both outlet and full price. I’d never dismiss someone from shopping only at the outlet. Also please give people breathing room. You don’t need to comment on every bag I point to. This isn’t Chanel. The commission isn’t that big.

I did really well at this location they seemed to get the product before the other locations according to the way it happened when I was shopping. when I got there when They had just put out the latest collection for the Hawaii line. I Got the one and only key chain Of the beach chair. They had just put out the collection and I was the 1st one to get it . so exciting the staff was very helpful very energetic. And even took my picture for me outside of the store. store staff went beyond , to help me and made my experienceIs pleasurable. I have the Kate Spade leather pineapple purse and the entire staff recognized it the a minute I walked in the store and appreciated the pineapple coming back to the Motherland. Mahalo Kate spade Hawaii. From a lady who embraces the Kate Spade brand entirely.

I went here last year while walking around because I found their display to be really catchy and cute. I was impressed with the selections and sales so I ended getting 3 bags, 2 for myself and 1 to gift along with a purse strap.Unfortunately this was not the best purchase now that I looked back at my whole experience.In store experience: the sales rep followed us very often. She's nice so I didn't think much but my friend did point out later that it was kind of awkward how we were trailed when we were shopping. Then there were also managers standing there and pretending they are not there.Products:I bought a mini backpack and I was excited about getting a new bag to replace my current everyday bag. The black leather did not hold up very well. Within a few months it was peeling and after much deliberation I reached to the rep who helped me via email. The other mini purse is doing ok with the leather but I realized both locks scratched the gold lock area and it looks beaten pretty fast. I've bought several kate spade bags from the outlet before and was impressed with how well they hold up and decided to get purses from the actual store. Unfortunately the quality is lower and periodically I have issues with the locks not closing properly.Customer service:Summarized as semi awkward initially to bad awkward at the end.The initial trailing experience was not ideal but I was sympathetic because I assumed they experience theft and just had to do their job. When I contacted the rep who helped me originally about the issues with the leather peeling and the lock issues, she told me to come into the store and she will have her manager take a look at it. We made the trip to see what they can tell us.I went in and the experience was not pleasant. I showed her the peeling parts on the mini book bag and the manager said it's part of wear and tear. As disappointing as the quality is, I get it it's classified as "normal" wear and tear. So then I shared with her about how the clasp/lock would not secure sometimes. She asked for the bag and tried to close. And I explained that it sometimes it can close and sometimes doesn't and the top flap will pop out. I had ppl tell me my bag was open more than once before and asked if they are aware of similar issues with their bags. She proceeded to hold the bag in front on me and said it's closed and tugged on it oddly and she said she has no idea what I'm talking about.At that point I gave up. The manager was not even listening and her actions were rude. We have people staring at us. You can tell the manager doesn't care and she echoed the mindset that they displayed from the beginning. We are not customers but potential thieves and scammers. Looking back it was odd, they have the sales rep trailing us and the managers standing there by the register awkwardly pretending they are not there. They don't seem to want customers to be in the store...I told them thanks for giving me time and bid them good bye. Needless to say I will not return here. It's a shame I spent so much money to be disappointed in the quality and receive these kind of attitudes and treatment. I hope others get better luck. I rather spend my money at the outlet where they actually have customer service and the bags actually lasts! Thanks for reading about my experience.
