Excellent service and very friendly. My partner needed a chain fixed since it had been loose and broken for about a month. We were looking for a place to get it fixed and I had passed by this place almost daily due to traveling to the Fort Street Mall area often. We arrived early, around 9:10AM and saw the hours that the shop opened at 9:30AM. We waited patiently in front of the store since we had time to kill and were in no rush. Immediately on the dot the window shutters opened and he flipped his sign from Closed to Open. That was great! Right on time. Immediately the shop owner welcomed us and we told him that we needed a chain fixed and showed him that the clasp was broken. He was happy to help and the price he charged was reasonable. We also got the chain cleaned and a cleaner. He was happy to answer all our questions and my partner was questioning if the chain was real due to some particles and he happily explained that to him and how it occurs. The shop owner James is very friendly and a pleasure to talk to. He kept the conversation going as he fixed the clasp and waited for the chain to be cleaned. He provided excellent customer service. He was prompt and I liked that his shop opened right on time and we didn't have to wait a second longer. His shop has been in the same location for just a little 30 years. I would recommend this store if you are in the area and need a piece of jewelry or watch repaired.

This guy is the best. Bought a brand new watch on Amazon and for some reason it wasn't working. I was hoping it was just the battery. I walked in and he is the nicest guy. Fixed my watch, I think it was $15 and even did some magic. Friendly and he was so quick. Would go back for sure if I ever need anything again.

James can fix your watch, and show, or sell magic at the same time.

Pioneer Jewelry Watches/ Magic I have a Kenneth Cole watch- so I don't just want to go to Walmart and buy replacement batteries and try with my screwdrivers to open and possible hurt my watch. I take it to Chinatown where at least I can have someone that normally looks at watches see what is needed- usually just a normal battery replacement. But if something more serious was wrong I wouldn't know what to do- and still have to take it to a more professional store to have it looked at anyway. So for a few times for this watch and for other watches previously I have gone to Pioneer Jewelry. The guy that worked on all my watches is a magician. So I am just waiting for him to make a joke like- "Do you see what I have here?" But no when it comes to normal watches he is all business and gives an estimate up front and says there is a minimum charge that I have to be willing to pay before he looks at pieces. I'm always happy with the quick service and if there were more serious things wrong I'd feel fine leaving pieces overnight with him. He is also a magician. He has some table magic tricks there to buy and there are posters of performances that he has had. So all around cool store.

What an exercise in contrasts -- great customer service vs no customer service. I needed to get a watch band taken in. I first stopped in a watch shop on Hotel Street, right by the bus stop and Love's. Without his standing up, the exchange with the salesman goes like this: Salesman: It's not possible to re-size. Me: Huh? Really? Salesman: No, cannot. Me: Why not? Salesman: No. Me: Show me what I should look for next time. Salesman: We don't have the equipment. Ohhhh. That's a different story now, isn't it. Why couldn't you start with that? I go across the street to Pioneer Jewelry. The owner jumps up, says hello, says of course it can be re-sized. Measures my wrist. Takes it to his work counter and voila in 3 minutes, brings back a perfectly-fitting watch. Gives me his card. Says he does batteries too. $8. Great experience.
