Raised my monthly payment for no reason and apparently they do that to everyone. $145 was already ridiculous but I guess now they need $200! The building isn't even full. The parking lot is, however, full of homeless people and tents and garbage. I get it, you have to sleep somewhere, but why did I get attitude from the short angry man you employed when I sat there for 15 minutes waiting for my ride? It's not my fault he's going bald

EDIT: I will add a star because I eventually was able to get a refund after finally being put in touch with a district manager who was kind enough to review the situation and issue a refund. I do very much appreciate her time and effort. However, I will leave my experience up for posterity. There were a significant number of roadblocks and poor customer service that had to be overcome for this basic courtesy to be granted.
I am a military member ordered to move from Hawaii. Unfortunately, I have no control over when the military schedules movers and I was assigned August 1st. As early as possible on August 1st, I let the desk know I would be leaving. I vacated my unit at 9 AM that morning. I was told "you will be charged for the month, it's a month to month contract".
I made every in effort in good faith to vacate the unit as soon as possible within three hours of the start of the billing period - I would have vacated earlier had I the ability to select my moving date. Anyone with eyes or a brain could see I'm clearly not trying to game the system or scam Public Storage out of money or space. Surely Public Storage would allow me a couple of hours of leeway instead of charging me >$200, right?
No. Absolutely not, they said. It's policy. And the employees at the front desk had absolutely zero interest in going out of their way to see if anything could be done or in connecting me to anyone with authority that could consider the matter. A big middle finger was essentially what I got.
I asked if there was anyone I could discuss the issue with as any reasonable empathetic person could see I would not be using the storage space for 741 out of the 744 hours in the month of August. I was given a robot customer service line where after 20 minutes I eventually got someone that referred back to the exact front desk employees that gave me the customer service phone number in the first place.
Public Storage decided against using just a little common sense to apply a very reasonable exception to their usual month to month policy for a military member with no choice but to move early August 1st instead of just a few hours before on July 31st. They have no interest in treating customers with respect or dignity. In my case, I paid >200$ for a few hours of storage space this month and they have every intention of turning around and renting that space out immediately (even though I just paid for it).
Use a non-faceless, more caring company. Public Storage doesn't care about you, your circumstances, or your stuff. I highly recommend Hawaii Self Storage. I've had great experiences with them in the past (even when it comes to billings and their "policies"). Last I vacated from Hawaii Self Storage, I did not realize they required two weeks notice about vacating a unit. I was vacating a week prior to the end of my monthly billing period. However, seeing that I had been a long term customer who had never caused prior issues or missed a bill, they were happy to waive that requirement as it was clear to anyone with eyeballs it was an accident of no real consequence. Public Storage would have never.

The staff at Kapiolani have always been wonderful to me. But today they have blessed me. It is a struggle starting a new business and have more expenses then you can pay for. My rent for storage was going to go up in a month and I was so scared trying to figure out what to do. The staff could see it in my face and I explained my situation. Leina was there listening to me pour my heart out to Kris (another employee- she’s so sweet too) and Leina not only blessed me with three months of a discount but she just had so much faith in what my dreams are. I hope Leina and Kris know how much of a blessing they are to me. I don’t know how to repay them! Love you Kapiolani staff!

I was helped by Pono. He did an outstanding job with my storage sign up. He was very professional patient and very helpful with my storage needs. This guy did a wonderful job. He's a terrific employee. The storage was locked and he promptly came to open it. He is a very valuable employee. I wish there were more like him. Great guy!
