Wonderful concept and we should have more of these types of re-use centers. Having some extra wood planks, I drove over to drop them off after I called per the website's instructions. Bald guy was super rude. I'd go again if needed but unprovoked rude people should seek inner peace. Talking about you, bald guy.

HCF said it had also put a tarp over a 170 year old section of the house thathad the roof removed during the deconstruction, protecting it from furtherdeterioration. Before the contractor, Re-use Hawaii, was asked to halt thedeconstruction, three historic outbuildings had been torn down. When askedabout the fate of any salvageable materials, and wether they had been savedor taken to the Re-use Hawaii Redistribution Center for resale to the public, both Re-use and HCF had no comment

Great place to pick up DIY stuff. Don't want to say too much because I really don't want more people knowing about it. ?

Heck yeah, I love salvage stores! I currently work at the owner's prior employer, met them briefly there, and I made certain to visit when I was in Honolulu. Super big location, lots of surprises, and some fantastic old Hawaiian-built goods. I would shop and/or work here if I lived in the city.

Fun place to just wander the aisles and imagine a project using some of the supplies. Tile a backslash, redo some light fixtures, create a new piece of furniture using leftover dresser drawers that are piled on the floor.Does anyone want a $2200 clawfoot tub? Really cute small benches from $20 to $80 also free our attention. You never know what treasure you'll find.

Something to keep in mind, sure you're looking through things that would have been thrown away, but they have a lot, so chances are you'll find something you need for the lowest price. I wish I knew about this place when doing senior design prototyping.

I absolutely love the vibe and mission behind re-use Hawaii. Keeping things out of the landfill and repurposing it for other uses. Giving a second life to things that would’ve ended up in the garbage. I also understand business need to make money to stay afloat and to pay their employees. Where the line gets fuzzy here is charging $1000 for a light fixture and $500 for a table and so on. Things that are donated or salvaged being charged excessive amounts of money, this becomes MORE about making a profit than the actual original mission it set forth, to help the planet, and that’s disappointing.
