10-07-23 (Saturday)Shopped here today. Not busy as most were at Costco. The young man behind the fish (poke) counter and the self check out guy must have had a bad day. Grumpy! Grumpy! So sad especially in these financial times of concern.Smile, be nice to all! ?

I was at the deli looking for chuck eye steak and I couldn’t find it then Janice helped me out and found one in the back with peters help. They made my trip to safe way so smooth and efficient. So grateful for them.

Other than the prices are very high, I have no complaints about this Safeway. The store is usually very clean and the personnel is friendly and helpful.

Nice, clean grocery store. It's Hawaii so many prices, other than sale items, cost 50-100% more than mainland stores. Unless money is not an issue with you, you need a Safeway account to save some here. You also need to shop other store sales items too.

Rated as my favorite supermarket on the island of Oahu. They do a $5 Friday for adding to your weekend goods. 2aa

Please check your receipt. The store is advertising items to lure you into the store . Then charge you the higher price . The prices on their tags are not the same as the advertised weekly ad prices , even when you use the Safeway club member card. See photos of ads and then what was charged on the receipt.I feel sad for the seniors who are on a fixed income , rely on this one store in Hawaii Kai, and getting ripped off due to the lack of professionalism run by this store. Get it right! Update your computer system - stop using excuses! So tired of unacceptable customer service .If anyone know which government agency I can report this to, please let me know. In the meantime, I will check with the weights and measurement standards branch with the state.

I had the BEST customer service today from JOSH F at the Safeway Deli Department!!! He was extremely helpful and very patient as I was not familiar with the specials being offered. He made sure that I ordered exactly what I needed. Thank you JOSH F for your help!!!

This guy named Josh F in the deli area made a lasting impression for the exceptional customer service he provided. Made the whole experience positive!

Tried several time to post this on the Safeway customer service site. It wouldn't load the message. At least Safeway customer service is uniformly lousey. Why is shopping at Safeway at 377 Keahole St in Honolulu like going to the DMV?We moved to Hawaii ten years ago and have shopped everywhere. Safeway, Foodland, Whole Foods. Times. Target, Wallmart and Don Quijote. We started shopping at the Kaehole Safeway when we move to Hawaii Kai about a year ago. It has been a real experience. The meat department is to say the least unwelcoming. The butchers ignore you, talking to each other in a group of 3 or 4.. If you don't leave they will just look at you. If you ask where an item is they just point. If you ask for an advertised special they tell you "come back tomorrow". They put lamb chops in the case unfinished, two chops still unsawed. Ask them to cut them into single chops and they say "can't cut anything after it's in the case" If you tell them the Safeway Beretania cuts chops they say "so shop there". Last Friday we were shopping and wanted to buy about half a dozen two pound bags of shrimp for a luau. Went to the meat department and there was no one there. Went to "Customer Service". No one there so we rang the bell, waited about 5 minutes and a woman emerged from the back room, looking perturbed. We greeted her and he spoke over us saying, "I SAID what do you need". Explained we wanted the advertised shrimp but didn't know where is was in the printed circular to show her the item.. She threw a circular on the counter and said "it's on the front page".Told her there was none visible in the meat department and the was no one there to ask. She called the department and waited several minutes for an answer. When she got off the phone she said "shrimps are in the coffin but they're not marked with the sale price" The special was unmarked, the butchers knew this and did nothing, and didn't offer to remark the packages. Guess that improves the department profit metrics. Referring to a food storage area as a "coffin" and her attitude was a bit too much. We bought the cheese and the grapes in our cart using the self checkout. The employee there came over to us while we were there, didn't say a word, just moved our cart so she could invade our space and glared. Bought the shrimp at Foodland, had the luau and regaled the 50 or so people at our condo development with our shopping "experience" Many others said they stopped shopping at Safeway because the employees are unwelcoming, unhelpful and unfriendly. Many elderly residents said they hated shopping there and only went there because didn't drive and they could walk to the store. As president of the HAO I'm going to organize a van pool to take residents to other stores. Aloha Safeway. All of the other stores we shop at hire from the same local labor pool, most if not all are unionized. One wonder what causes Safeway workers to become so jaded and unhappy. On the parent company's website (cerberus.com) you state "Cerberus creates an edge for our investors and business partners worldwide".Not so much a competitive edge but edgy i.e. tense, nervous, and/or irritable:

Creepy dystopian big brother alarms. They have alarms that go off almost every time I am shopping. Today I learned it is a theft deterrence device that disables your cart when you walk thru the door and it blasts a loud alarm throughout the store that sounds like a fire alarm. The cashier tells me that the self check register I went thru was not properly working and it accidentally flagged my cart as being full of stolen goods, despite paying and despite my receipt. This is automation gone awry!
