Best surf shop on island. They are the most friendly, have a great selection of all the necessities and everything that’s also in your wish list. I’ll go out of my way to support them, compared to shops that are closer to my house

I was given Donald Takayama's board and I have been indebted to him for a long time. I saw it featured in NALU's special feature and when I went there, it was a perfect fit. Various shops have opened in Waikiki, but they have remained open for a long time. I've been using this board for 20 years, and every time I go, it's always been a fun start. A lot of locals come here. My dog, Hana, has retired, but my son is working hard.Try to go! ️

I stumbled upon Surf Garage when I was looking for new fins for my board. I haven't surfed in years after I had kids- so I'm just getting back in to surfing. I wanted some advice about possibly getting a new board that would better suit me now, and the guy took so much time to chat with me and give me his valuable insight. I didn't feel rushed or like I inconvenienced him at all. It was really nice to just throw ideas back and forth and listen to his suggestions. I learned that this is a family business and has been here for many years. The father and mother started the shop and the son works there too. I love to support places like this! I ended up snagging my fins and a hat and a sticker- he gave my daughter a sticker for free! It was such a sweet experience. Will def be back in the future!

If you’re looking for some really niche boards, this is the best place to do it. You’ll find some really cool stuff on consignment as well.

I love the service and love the board I got... New and used 4 sale. He gave me some stuff also. I just really appreciated how we were treated... my daughter is a college student so we got her an island board... but I had to try it out a few sessions to make sure it works!!

Such friendly customer service! I just called and asked about any 9' Miss Lucy fins and the person over the phone kindly went and grabbed all of them for me and described each one's color. Thank you so much!

Japanese people and stores usually have great customer service. But not here. No greeting when you walk in. Then overall bad customer service. Went in to buy something but left because I don't be to support a shop that lacks basic aloha skills. Go elsewhere.

The best surf shop on Oahu by far. Toru is connected and forgot more than most know about surfing.

Everyone who works here is really friendly and they have a good selection of boards and fins. Wax is a little expensive ($3) but I still go here for everything because they are so nice!

A surf shop that all locals say is not recommended. The over-the-top customer service is the worst.
Definitely not recommended for Japanese people.
Americans probably won't go either!
If you stay in Hawaii for a long time, you will become ignorant of the world and learn the basics.
You won't understand manners or behavior.
That is this store.
please be careful. I hope you don't become a victim
This is the first time in my life that I have written a comment like this.
I had a bad experience

The Owner of the business is dishonest. The owner is an older male, he's always there and is the main worker at the shop. His strategy when you come into his business for a "ding repair" on your surf board is to give you a cost on the repair and then when you come back to pick up you're board he charges more on the repair stating it took more time and money to repair the ding. Anyone can say that... but then is it really legal/fair for the business owner to mark up the repair cost to whatever price he wants and make you pay that price or you won't get your boards back, or you pay that price and then have to take him to small claims court in order to get your money back... #Scary #Headache #Not Worth It. It gets even scarier, in a nutshell the police had to be called, 2 police officers showed up at the business while I waited for them, the police helped negotiate a price in order to get my boards back. I had to pay more than the original agreed amount. The police stated, exactly that, you have to pay the amount you're agreeing on or whatever the store owner says in order to get your boards back. The police encouraged me to go onto social media so everyone is aware of my experience and to stay away from this business, they also confirmed you'll have to pay to take the business owner to small claims court in order to get the difference back that I paid. I have a business referral for anyone that needs a ding repair, the business name is titled "Ding Kingdom" they're in Honolulu, the repair is fair pricing, I've had multiple repairs done by him and whatever price he states "in the beginning" is the same price you pay "in the end", no left hooks. As far as buying surf boards goes, go anywhere but Surf Garage, the owner is selling used surf boards for the same price you can buy them brand new for.

5++ stars! First of all, outstanding customer service! I was looking for a used surf board, and was overwhelmed at another shop. Decided to drop by here and got really lucky ! They had a smaller selection, but happened to be better quality boards. And the same price ! I ended up buying a bunch of accessories. I really needed help to put on the fins and leash. They really didn't have to, and I felt bad for asking, but they helped me anyways and did an amazing job. I am very grateful and walked out a very happy customer !
