The Art of Fitness is great. How great is it? Let me count the ways ... Conveniently located - right in town. Easily accessible - centrally located but no traffic congestion. Covered parking. Fantastic facility - Towels are provided for you, shower with toiletries, hairdryer, and ironing board. Theres the weight room, the cardio room, the open floor area, and the lounge with comfy seats like the movies. Positive people - everyone is so friendly, the atmosphere is cozy and inviting. I feel like Norm on Cheers. Knowledgeable trainers / Challenging classes - Ray and Henry change it up all the time, keep us on our toes. They are very attentive - even when they arent paying attention to us - they are paying attention to us - reminding us to stick out our chest, or keep our back straight, or to stay on our toes and pivot. Results - Increased strength, increased endurance, baggier clothes. And at the end of class, my body is exhausted and my shirt is soaked with sweat, but I think its great.

The Art of Fitness is a fantastic gym!! This is easily the best gym in Honolulu, reasonable priced with personalized attention from dedicated and experienced trainers. Ray Sagum, the owner and one of the trainers is very professional and takes a personal interest in you no matter what fitness level you're at. I train here 2-3 times a week and really like how he gives me solid training tips and advice to get the most out of every workout. I've been going for a few months now and am already seeing a big changes in my energy levels and body. The Art of Fitness is a good mix of functional fitness with traditional gym equipment and members who are serious about fitness but friendly and fun too. There are never too many people which is nice and there is a range of options for group classes throughout the week. It's a hard workout with happy people!

Did I say miracle worker? Ray Sagum, the owner, is an outstanding coach and motivator. His classes and personal training services have increased my strength and aerobic endurance while reducing the fat:) With COVID, was able to get into a routine of at least getting active and knew it was time to take it to the next level. Art of Fitness was the perfect solution. The gym offers various classes, personalized service with sincere focus on you as an individual client. I am on a supplement regime that Ray designed for me and truly feel a level of fitness that I have not achieved in years. Henry has been great in teaching boxing and being patient with my combinations, using my shoulders and my power. My muscles on the left side of my body are tight and the program has been designed to specifically work on gaining more flexibility. My left side is finally realigned. I leave dripping in sweat and feeling great. Would recommend to those that are ready to get serious about pushing your fitness to the highest level!

I have been a member of this gym and training with Ray the owner for years. THE TWO RECENT ONE STAR REVIEWS ARE ABSOLUTELY UNFOUNDED. Ray's contract for membership and payment is legally solid. He expects members to treat the gym as if it was their own business. He expects members to be kind to each other, keep their gear put away, and help maintain an immaculate and beautiful facility by leaving the equipment and bathrooms the way they found them. He trains with the utmost safety of his members in mind. His knowledge of the human body, and how to increase the fitness levels of his members depending on their age and issues is superb. I am a medical professional and I know this for sure. Most importantly he promotes a positive learning environment with others who have real expertise in the field of fitness and martial arts. If he sees trainers or members doing something incorrect or unsafe he will gently provide guidance. He doesn't want to see any injuries or unnecessary pain. Trainers with big egos , who cannot take needed feedback or are overly impressed with themselves or their own physique can be unsafe, and have no place in this gym. Members who do not respect the gym and equipment or who are clueless about invading the personal space of others should go to a massed produced corporate based gym. Ray and the Art of Fitness maintains a spirit of Aloha and Ohana. He is clear with the members that he has every right not to continue your membership if you don't maintain the decent standards of behavior and safety we all enjoy as members. We regulars are glad for that and appreciate what it takes to maintain that positive culture in these times.

I wasn't going to make this review but after the text he sent to my girlfriend here we go. First of all my boy recommended this gym even though he hasn't even been yet and it was going to be his first day there as well. I will never listen to another recommendation from him again after this. First let's start with the warning sign i should have caught on to. This guy told me and my friend in his office he would let trainers train there for free as long as they had a membership as well as the clients. But right after, he told me about a trainer who left and decided she would rather pay a 1000 dollars to train at kakaako fitness rather than train there for free. I was like she is crazy. P.S. the girl wasn't crazy. But I am at fault. I should have not signed up with a gym where you pay 175 dollars just to get started and apparently you are suppose to pay for a month that you won't be allowed to go to the gym. He is asking for money for August in the text as well even though I canceled with him on July 29th. Now I am going to educate everyone on how gyms work. When you pay to start you pay the first and last month's and maybe an initiation fee so when you cancel you have 30 days left of the membership since you paid for the last month. But since I turned my key fob on the 29th and I just found my girlfriends keyfob 2 days ago and turned it in today. But we ain't used the gym at all for the entire month of August not only that we don't have access to it. So he is planning on sending it up to collections which on video that I recorded today I said go ahead and do it. Because I honestly know for a fact that you cannot pay for something you don't have. Thats my problem and I am prepared to deal with collections for the 75 dollars each that me and maya owe. If you look at the bottom two pictures of the terms and conditions of this gym you can now see why I feel highly confident. NOW ON TO THE REVIEW OF THE GYM.Look i ain't been training clients for 20 years but i have a pretty good record. But i have never been criticized so much by someone nowhere near my fitness level. I mean I don't toot my own horn much but alot of people that tend to know me knows that I can squat, bench and do other fitness activities with very little difficulty but this guy will tell you that everything you know is wrong and that he knows because he been training for 20 years. And also for those who follow me on Instagram you also been seeing me hit the speed bag. This guy was hating so much saying I'm doing it wrong. But if I ask for a demonstration from him to do a squat, a push up, or anything standard I am in for a feature film. I also get the trying to be family aspect i guess that's where the good reviews are coming from but go see for yourself. Pay that 175 to see for yourself. Just know if you cancel the next day you pay another 75 dollars unless you pay on the first of a month that has 31 days.Everyone that goes to the gym or even work there are great and again I wasn't going to write this but when he yelled at my girlfriend because she left a yoga mat out when the place to put the yoga mat away was blocked by a woman and her client, so she decided to wait until the lady moved to put it back but he came in screaming, so that day we looked for reviews where other people had problems and we found them. There are good reviews on the place but I'm saying trust me just go experience it for yourself. Also I don't know if he knows this but i am well versed in how online marketing works. I know this place was running Groupons and Google ads so they need members and or money that's why everyone I know that canceled sensed a salty vibe once they turned in their key or key fob. Anyways I'm posting this review everywhere Google, YouTube, instagram, and I'm tagging everyone I know. One final thing this place is a business with copyrighted terms and conditions that i have in the pictures a

I found Art of Fitness through Groupon, with a deal offering 3 personal training sessions for a low price. I went in not knowing what to expect, but found the gym to be clean and well-equipped (with parking, towels, showers). Ray is an experienced trainer and immediately went about correcting my form, posture, etc. The atmosphere is friendly and not intimidating at all. There are unlimited membership options, powercircuit classes as well as boxing and kajukempo classes. If you are looking for a gym then I would definitely recommend this place.

I'm a member of another gym in the area but I've been unable to motivate myself to get to the gym and push myself. This is not an issue at The Art of Fitness. I meet with Ray three times a week and he tasks me and helps me push myself. He makes me work hard. At this point, I'm sore after each session, but it's a good sore. The focus has been on proper form and proper breathing. These are things that my previous trainers seem to have neglected. It's only been four weeks and I'm very happy with the results. I look better and feel better.

I have been training with Ray for a month now and I have already seen great results. He is tough but fair. He doesn't accept excuses and whines; and he will push you just enough past your limit. Working with him makes my muscle hurt but after a while they feel great. I feel stronger and I have seen my baby muscles come through.

Purchased a groupon. Thought it would be a good way to try it out. Would not recommend this gym. Owner has issues. Should have heeded review made on yelp. Never imagined I would have a similar experience.
