This is a beautiful museum with a great variety of art and history. My husband and I were on our honeymoon and our hotel website said we got two free complimentary admission to the museum. I'm a photographer and jumped on the offer. NOTE: when we went, Feb 2024, if you are staying at the Alohilani Waikiki resort, they no longer have a relationship/don't pay the museum, so the offer on the hotel website is not valid. While we would have gladly paid the entrance, the employee who helped us, Nadine let us in. I will be making a donation to the museum because that's awful and everyone should support the arts. Please visit, it's huge and worth it!

Art is what separates us from the beasts, well one thing at least. So having this big brain in our head not only allows us to create art but to appreciate art too. And some of this art is in the HMOA.. so go see it. Shoots .

Just wow! I'm thrilled I visited this museum! Being the only one open past 4pm adds a unique touch. Initially, I thought I'd breeze through in 3 hours, but it's surprisingly expansive. Despite its size, the museum offers a plethora of captivating exhibits, including a stunning Monet. The gift shop is equally delightful, adding to the overall experience. While disappointed that one exhibit was closed, I found myself engrossed for 6 hours. A hidden gem with endless surprises!

First time coming here and really enjoyed the collection. They also have a coffee bar if you need a break. Parking nearby for $5/5 hrs.

Honestly I did not know for such a small museum (it's Hawaii) that they could have so many temporary exhibits. It's always a pleasant surprise when I go and there's new art on display. Currently (January 2024) they have David Hockney and Lauren Hana Chai. As well as some modern art and some continuing themes from the last temporary exhibit of the Hawaiian inspired masks. Both temporary exhibits were a pleasant surprise, though I do miss Hung Liu. With the temporary exhibits it's nice to see the complete layouts changes to best suit the artist's show. Where as Hung Liu was one room with nothing dividing the space, David Hockney has several section dividers and continues in the two back spaces. I'm so happy to have been introduced to Lauren Hana Chai, her art was really an inspiration with the color, realism mixed with her culture. Can't wait for the next exhibits!

Honolulu Museum of Art is a delightful gem that I personally am excited to visit again soon. What a beautiful place, with a lovely staff, they were all so kind and it was such a smooth process to get entry! I enjoyed my time at HOMA, the "tour" was self guided and peaceful. Some Fridays they have live music and really make an experience out of it so if ever you need something interesting to do try check this place out. The night I visited they were playing a film and also hosting these craft classes/sessions; being surrounded by others artful creations and then getting a chance to express some creativity with family and new friends felt like a well rounded experience! Parking was pretty easy for us we got a space right in front of the location along the street side which was so nice since I'm always in heels lol! Aloha, & Thanks for a great time HOMA, see you again soon. p.s. ask about military and Kama'āina discounts *wink* if you have ID of course!

Current exhibitions in December 2023 include the David Hockney talents, a Persian display and the Tale of Genji. Saw the Hockney movie which included alot of nudity- yikes but it is an art movie so I should have prepared myself. Lots of street parking or use the museum lot behind the museum school.

HoMA gift shop has a variety of art-inspired items. From independent artists' ceramic work, to artwork inspired clothing, to culturally inclusive children books - this gift shop embodies the wonder and happy feelings one would have when they walk through an art store. The general pricing of items are also reasonable! Whenever I've went, I was greeted by the staff & had good customer experiences so far. Would recommend going to a few exhibits before to make the visit worth while!

My friends and I volunteered to help with the recent Pua Lei exhibit and it was very rewarding to see the culmination of it. The exhibit has been ongoing for 20 years with more Lei being added each and every year by volunteers. If you get a chance to get over there, I highly recommend seeing it! It is spectacular!

Haven't been to the HoMA in a long time and wanted to see their Chinese artist exxhibit. They had setup almost half of galleries with Eastern/Southeastern artifacts. Didn't realized the antiques! Other middle eastern and European galleries also had outstanding exhibits with recognizable artists both historical and current. One gallery presented Hawaii artists and subject matter too!

The service on July 29th at 3:15pm at the museum shop was loud, unprofessional, hopeless and common. Not an art form, indeed.
