This garden was difficult to find as there were no signs posted. We were told it was behind one of the main buildings. There was ample parking on the street, and no signs anywhere, so we parked there. We viewed the gardens for maybe 15 minutes at most (they are pretty, but small). When we came back to the car, we had a $40 parking ticket! Say what?? There were no signs anywhere about no parking or paying for parking. We were disappointed to say the least.

What a fun little garden in the middle of UH Manoa campus! Its located behind the east west center. Parking is free on holidays and on Sundays (which are the easiest days to go tbh and it's also less busy on campus). I've taken my engagement photos here in the past on campus and i now bring my dogs here every so often for a photoshoot. The only caution about this location is the dirty pond water with algae and koi fish. Just be cautious that your pets dont drink out of them because they might get sick. Theres a lot of fun spots to take photos or just hang out and lots of space to spread out within the garden. The shaded areas are near the steps or behind the trees next to the building.

Highly recommend. This is an outdoor garden you can walk through. Miss coming a few times because I thought it was "closed". We went on a weekend and they were not many students around at all and lots of parking. I definitely want to come back here more often and do the tour. Meticulous garden, fish pond, streams and beautiful green lawn. I was surprised they were not more people in the park given how beautiful it is. It was nice and quiet and very relaxing.

Beautiful place and people we met at the tea house welcomed us and answered all our questions. The pond is beautiful, fishes, etc., are well-taken care of.

The East-West Center is also referred to as the Center for Cultural and Technical Interchange Between the East and West. Fantastic team-building organization.

Beautiful and off the beaten path. If you want some serenity while on vacation, come hang here. It is on the University of Hawaii campus, but fun to visit anyway.

I was here for a three week Mandarin program, and I came here all the time. It was a great place to go read and to homework. You have to check it out if you're ever on campus.

I always love coming here for peace of mind, besides the Birds bathing in the stream, or the koi lazily swiming around, to the mongeese making brief apparences throughout the day. This place brings you nothing but tranquility!

It's well maintained, and similar to parks in Japan. Just much smaller version. The 1 star is because there is no public parking for locals to enjoy. Only for UH.

To be clear, this isn't quite a spot anyone can just pop into and look around, though there are public events from time to time. The EWC is a research organization that strives to improve policy and relations between the US and the basically everywhere else I think, but with a focus on Asia and the Pacific. The Honolulu campus is comprised of an administrative building, two graduate dorms, and a conference hall. Events such as the annual East West Fest are open to the public, and a nice showcase of the cultures and arts of affiliated grad students. Last year had a number of musical performances and a fantastic hula performance. John A. Burns Hall has a small art gallery that is open to the public and definitely worth a visit if you're nearby.

A smaller, free alternative to the Byodo-In Temple koi pond. Beautifully horticultured land and serene enviornment.

Small but very pretty little garden area to explore. There was some sort of a tea a ceremony going on in the Japanese style building so we didn't get too close, but it looked really neat too.
