DO NOT LIVE HERE!!! This is the worst apartment complex I have ever lived in and I regret every single second I spent in this place. I only lived here for 4 months and they charged me a painting fee at move out. I didn’t even hang any pictures and there was no damage to the walls. Seriously if you are even considering this place run away

Fantastic apartment complex for anyone needing a living space in downtown Honolulu. It’s located near plenty of grocery stores and if you need more options (Foodland, Target, Walmart, Donq) the buses to all those locations are right in front with no transfer needed. Quick access to food like marugame, mcd, L&L, 711, and smol family shops if you are working in downtown or a student passing by.
Management is really nice and helpful (Olivia in the leasing office did a great job settling us in and throughout our stay).
The apartment is kept clean thanks to the hard work of the cleaning staff. Security is friendly and consistently ensure the safety of the residents.
Some issues experienced were the trash chute system and the very loud fire alarm but those are more on resident error rather than the building itself.
The construction noises are not as annoying as others may have stated but could be due to construction going down during my stay.
100% recommend

My sink disposal wasn't working and Sean came in and fixed it in about 60 seconds. It wasn't the reset button either. He accommodated my graveyard shift schedule. Thanks a lot. Mahalo.

My experience with Brian at The Residences at Bishop Place was exceptional. He was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and patient throughout the entire leasing process. Brian took the time to understand our needs and preferences, and he was able to recommend the perfect unit for us.
The building itself is fantastic, offering modern amenities and a prime location. However, it's worth noting that the parking spaces can be a bit tight, and the windows don't open. Despite these minor drawbacks, the building's staff, including management, maintenance, security, and the valet team, are truly outstanding. Their attentiveness and friendliness make living here a truly enjoyable experience.
I highly recommend The Residences at Bishop Place and would like to give a special thanks to Brian for his excellent service.

Chris in the leasing office was excellent to work with. He was responsive, available for showings, and followed up with help whenever I needed. I can’t recommend him and the building more!

I’ll be updating this review later, but for now, just know that you’ll be paying luxury-priced rent without any luxury. I can’t even get a response regarding my HVAC that hasn’t been functioning properly for over a year. That’s just the tip of the iceberg with this place.

Brian at the leasing office is truly a 5 star guy! Made moving in easy, stress free. Esp coming from the mainland with what to expect, utilities, etc. Excellent communication can't thank him enough! The building is newer and the amenities are super clean, modern and nice. Parking... Is well tight, always friendly and fast but the majority of spots are tandem and compact so just be prepared for that if you have a larger car/SUV. Been here only a month so far, but can't hear my neighbors nor much if any street noise. If you're looking for a place downtown near all the public transport that is modern and new, this is the place!

Great place! Shiny & clean. Super professional feel about it. Brian & Olivia have always smiled while delivering any accommodation I’ve asked for.
I’ve read a few of the bad reviews left for this building, and I feel they are a little unfair.
Plenty homeless people outside, yes. Island problem, not really a Residence at Bishop problem. It’s China town.. Dozens of really trendy restaurants and hotels within a mile dealing with the same issue.I walk downtown with my 5 year old daughter and never felt unsafe.
People burning food & setting off fire alarms, kinda sucks. It’s really difficult to fault the building for that. I feel pretty confidant I’m not gonna burn alive here in the case of a real fire.
Parking is less than ideal for a cheep stall. Pay more and get a great stall. I did, my parking is awesome.
Key cards, NOBODY is approaching your apartment that isn’t supposed to be there. I forgot mine a few times & had to wait for security to let me up. My fault, not theirs. Great policy.
Overall, at 11 months in, my experience here has been fantastic & I plan to upgrade to a larger unit as this lease ends. I’ll upgrade this review with how that process goes.

Don’t live here. Trust me.
In an effort to be fair and objective:
The units have a “high-end” feel to them, which is modern and fun. The appliances are nice and views from the units are beautiful. Lobbies are clean, bright and have nice charm. It has a decent gym with enough equipment to stay fit. This includes dumbbells up to 75 pounds, treadmills and a crossover cable machine. There are several really fun restaurants/bars within a five minute walk to ChinaTown. They’re pet-friendly. Like anything else, most of the security, valets, and residence staff are so incredibly pleasant and nice. It seems like the management is where there is a disconnect.
The units are expensive when all the hidden costs of utilities and fees are applied, and there are several other buildings in Kakaako/Ward/Town that offer better for less.
Dryer was broken for the first two months that I lived here. I would email and submit work requests with little to no follow-up. However, I was harassed and threatened daily with $50/day fines until I got my dog’s application processed (during the Christmas/New Year holiday).
I’ve been trapped in the elevator on two separate occasions and when this happens, the emergency phone is inoperable. Use your imagination about the anxiety this causes.
The immediate area surrounding the entryways on both sides of the building are filthy and have a horrific smell of urine and feces.
Homeless congregate within 20 yards on both sides of this place.
There was an attempted murder in the elevator - blood splattered all over the floors. We asked security if we should be concerned with our safety in the building, and the security guards told us they wouldn’t be sharing any information about it. Still, people piggy-back through the “locked” doors which require keycard access routinely.
The parking situation here is abysmal. $150/month for a random stall and $300/month for a fixed stall. The stalls are all ultra-compact. Here’s the kicker - you may only have a second stall if there are two people on the lease. This qualifies you for a TANDEM stall. We pay $600 per month in just parking fees. Our cars are a mid-sized truck and a compact car. They don’t fit in a tandem stall and we’ve been told “good luck”.
The final straw is the fire alarms. Since August of 2023, there have been seven false fire alarms/building emergencies that we HAVE BEEN HOME FOR (there’s no telling how many have happened while we weren’t home). Doesn’t seem so bad, but this means we have to carry two dogs down 23 flights of stairs, just to get to the bottom and be told that “it’s a false alarm” (which we know, but don’t want to risk our lives in the event that it isn’t). The scariest thing about this is if you decide to abandon the stairs halfway down, or the fire cuts through one of the lower floors, you will be trapped in the stairwell because all of the floors’ doors are locked from within.
Most of the staff are nice. Current policies are non-accommodating and management doesn’t have a pulse on the issues its residents are experiencing here. I would not recommend to a friend or family member.

Olivia was/has been absolutely amazing and made an out of state move so simple. She recorded walk through videos for me, kept me up to date on other units available, so that I had all the information needed to make a decision that was best for me. She communicated quickly and often. She has great customer service skills, and almost felt like I was meeting a friend when I landed and picked up my appt keys. 15/10!
Read some of the negative comments and some seem like unreasonable expectations. It's downtown living. I have lived in multiple big cities, and yea there is a fair amount of homeless ppl in the surrounding area, but no more than anywhere else. Security has always been very kind and respectful to me and it's an added sense of comfort, knowing how dilligent they are.
The parking spaces are compact, but Lei Lani has reached out to me multiple times with different parking spaces to choose from, as they open up (some have more space than others). Which I've veryy much appreciated.
The gym equipment is more than adequate for what you would expect of a community gym. There's a 24 hr fitness a block away, and the community gym has newer equipment than 24, not as much, but newer and has everything you would need for a good workout.
The cleanliness of the building has been impressive. I always see janitorial staff out and about, it really does have a hotel feel, have loved being here.
The location is great, walking distance to many restaurants and bars, have absolutely no complaints. Highly recommend this place!

I wouldn’t live here again.
Parking is horrible. Spaces are tight, and the cost of them with the building is expensive.
The windows of the apartments do not open which is a pain to cook with. Most people would open their doors when cooking and whatever steam/smoke would trigger the fire alarms. I am not exaggerating when I say that in the year that we lived there, the fire alarms went off 14 times and ALL of them were due to either cooking or vaping, no actual fires. It got to the point where our neighbors would poke their head out, all look at each other and then just wait for the fire department to shut off the alarm. Help them if there is a real fire.
The homeless practically live right out our door on both sides. They’re all relatively harmless, but the amount of times I have been in the plaza and witnessed a homeless person peeing, or exposing themselves, or taking off their clothes, or been followed by one, gets a little unnerving.

This is literally the worst place to live I HEAVILY do not recommend, there is nothing luxury about this place I've lived here for a year and it make so much since why there turnover rate is horrible the Security is rude and make you feel like a inconvenience when u ask for anything. The elevators are constantly out of order or broken and u either pay 300 dollars to park ur car in the EXTREMELY overpacked garage or u have to pay at the front gate everytime u come in (this machine is also constantly broken ) valet is rarely at the desk. If you're looking into this place u have money to spend on where u live and I beg u to spend it elsewhere.
