I visited Urasenke Tea House with my husband during one of their weekly demos and we were astonished by the level of richness of history behind "chado", the way of tea. The location is beautiful, peaceful and authentic. I felt as if I was visiting Japan again!Ritsu and Sensi were very kind and answered our questions as they guided us between areas of the chashitsu (tea house). We tried the delicious matcha tea and sweets.Make time for this place on your journey to Waikiki and remember to leave a donation (up to you). I'm 100% looking forward to visiting Urasenke locations all over the world!

An enchanting experience for our family. We will be talking about the nuances and kindness of the Japanese tea culture for a long time. We felt wholly accepted and graciously welcomed.

Japanese Tea Ceremony - private bookings

Such a beautiful and enriching experience. Urasenke is Japan’s premiere tea school, and the ceremonies demonstrated here are a testament to the foundation’s dedication to the discipline. From the homemade sweets to the ceremony grade matcha, everything was expertly crafted. But the real highlight was watching and listening to our incredible host. If you love Japanese tea, or simply enjoy immersive cultural exchanges, I can’t recommend this enough. Just make sure you email them in advance to secure your reservation (they only do ceremonies one day a week).

Such a wonderful and relaxing activity! The tea ceremony host and narrator were so welcoming, kind, and informative. It was a beautiful cultural experience! It starts with a 15 min video on what a full length tea gathering is like and then you get to sit in an authentic tatami mat tea room and enjoy sweets and have tea made for you. I highly recommend this!
