“This review is long overdue... but here goes! I have been taking my fur baby to King Pet Hospital for 8 years after trying two other clinics in town (They lacked professionalism). If you are searching for a vet clinic where you and your pets are treated with respect and at most care, look no further! The doctors and the team are extremely caring and knowledgeable, you wouldn't want to take your pets anywhere else. My dog needed a dental surgery and had to extract seven teeth. Although our previous doctor Dr. Ganzer no longer works there, Dr. Nicole Wong was amazing! She kept us updated with progress on the surgery day, and followed up how my dog is doing the next day as well. My dog's extraction sites healed much quicker than anticipated, and he is happy again! He now actually let us brush his remaining teeth! On top of that, they gave us a generous discount! We really appreciate King Pet Hospital's professionalism and integrity.”

I actually followed Dr. Yoshioka here from PetVet, and I’m so glad I did. The entire team is incredibly friendly, welcoming, and understanding — even with me being a complete helicopter mom. 😂

They never make me feel like I’m “too much” or that my concerns are silly. They take great care of Pickles and me.

I drive all the way from Waianae to come here, and honestly, the drive is 100% worth it for the level of service, kindness, and care we receive.

Dr. Hsu is awesome! He is very experienced and knowledgeable, and we never feel rushed. Dr. Hsu did everything possible to help treat the old Dachshund I brought from Japan. He always explained things in a way that was easy to understand. I have no regrets whatsoever.　Sadly, my Dachshund passed away in my arms in 2020 and crossed the Rainbow Bridge. My husband and my family in Japan are still very grateful to Dr. Hsu and his wonderful staff.
Of course, our other dog, Dim Sum, a Yorkie, was also cared for here. She was a very healthy and happy dog until she got older. In her final years, she had some problems with her teeth and eyes. The eye medication Dr. Hsu recommended worked very well, and she had a good outcome. We were also advised to see another eye specialist for a procedure, but we decided not to do it.

In the end, we were able to say goodbye to Dimsum with the happy ending we had hoped for. I truly believe that both of our dogs had good lives because of Honolulu Pet Clinic and the wonderful care they received there.
Even now, whenever I pass by the clinic, I have so many nostalgic memories. I always send my best wishes, good vibes, and heartfelt thanks to Dr. Hsu and all the staff, as well as to all the animals staying or boarding there.

“Sometimes you just have to be an advocate for your dog when they get older. I noticed her eyes were going bad from diabetes and I really wanted to see an eye specialist. There are two on this island and this one was preferred out of the two options. It took several months for the first original appointment, which to me seemed kind of normal to see an animal specialist. But once you get in the other appointments seem to be easier. I think the one thing I noticed is that they seemed to be kind of old school. Appointments were scheduled over the phone and manually on a appointment book. Receipts are also not soft copies either to emails. A lot of times you're leaving a voice message on their phone, but it seems like the receptionist has several jobs to do there. Otherwise, everyone there is friendly and we really liked the doctor. She was so very patient and kind to nala which we really liked and always had her best interest. Some key notes - you must have a face mask on if you want to go inside. Prior to your appointment you must wait outside until you're called in for yours. The location is on a one way street in a alleyway so it's very easy to miss.”

I live on the westside now and I will drive all the way to town just to go to this clinic because Dr. Obara and his staff are awesome! This is the most honest and straightforward clinic I have ever been to and exactly what I seek in terms of customer service and their procedures. I’ve been to many other vets on this island and they are all dishonest clowns. They run you in circles and make you pay for unnecessary tests that doesn’t even make any sense. They don’t even give you a summary of the work that was done to justify the costs. Here at Kalihi Pet Clinic, they are on top of their treatments provided, very straightforward, affordable and don’t run you in circles. Very transparent and professional providing you with aftercare summary of the treatments provided so you don’t wonder if you’ve been ripped off. I am very satisfied and love this vet! I bring all my pets here even if I have to drive a long way.”

They were so kind & asked us a lot of questions to determine what might have happened & they were spot on with a potential scuffle with another cat who keeps coming in our yard. “want to give special recognition to Animal Clinic of Honolulu because, in my personal experience, they stood out from every other veterinary clinic I contacted in Hawaii for an international USDA health certificate.

Before coming here, I contacted and dealt with several other clinics while trying to prepare my service dog, Speedy, for international travel. Unfortunately, I had extremely stressful experiences with delays, poor communication, conflicting information, lack of follow-through, and situations where I felt I could not depend on what I was being told. The process became much more difficult and expensive than it should have been.

Animal Clinic of Honolulu was completely different.

They were professional, organized, compassionate, responsive and, most importantly, reliable. They listened carefully, reviewed Speedy’s records, understood the urgency of international travel paperwork, and treated both me and my service dog with respect.

After everything I experienced elsewhere, this is the first clinic that made me feel that I was dealing with people I could truly count on.

For anyone in Hawaii who needs a USDA international health certificate, especially when travel deadlines are involved, I strongly recommend this clinic. In my experience, reliability in this process is everything, and Animal Clinic of Honolulu truly stood above the others.

“Overall an awesome place. I needed after hours, emergency vet care for my cat. The person who took my call, answered my concerns patiently. There was a kind Security Guard who opened the door while walking in. The people at the front were friendly, communicated well, and helpful. Eliot was quickly taken in to be seen by Trinity who was very kind in helping with Eliot. And Dr. Luce for taking care of Eliot and talking with us to let us know what was going on with him.
