First time eating here as a local. idk, maybe you have to grow up eating at these super old school places to have a complete appreciation for the food. Good things to note: the prices are pretty good, especially compared to other nearby burger joints. The line to order wasn’t fast, but that was mainly because the people in front of me had insanely complicated orders or kept coming back to bother the cashier and add on more items to their order. The cashier was very patient with them so she gets props for that. I got a Hal Deluxe burger and fries. The menu, as others have noted, is needlessly complicated. Their hamburgers and bbq burgers come with lettuce, onion, tomato, and cheese by default, and each possible combo of these ingredients being kept or removed from the burger is listed as a separate menu item. Not sure why the burger could have been listed once, and they note somewhere that ingredients can be customized. As for the food itself, I thought the burger was pretty mediocre. The beef patty was fine, but the bbq “steak” was very dry. The buns were also dry. The lettuce and tomato helped add moisture, but it just wasn’t enough. On top of that, the bbq “steak” was pretty tasteless. The fries, on the other hand, were great. I would readily take these fries over McDonald’s fries.Overall, it wasn’t exactly a stellar meal. The price is nice, but the taste and texture of the food will probably keep me away for the foreseeable future.

If you don't go to W&M, you haven't really been to Hawaii. Even locals need to go here. Fantastic teriyaki burgers.

Old school Honolulu local burger joint, Take Out only. Family business since the 50’s. Love it!Parking is a pain but don’t let that discourage you.Hal’s Burger with everything is our new favorite. A classic and local favorite that's been around for years. I've been many times and although it's good, I wouldn't say it's a spot that I would go out of my way for. Also the prices are pretty steep; $8+ for a burger, that if I'm being honest could be considered a snack.

Still the best burger (BBQ or otherwise)!!! Moved to the mainland more than 29 years ago and never forgot how absolutely delicious W&M burgers are. I've been back to the islands several times since, but I didn't have time to stop by here. So this time, it was mist and I had to share the experience with my son. When we turned in, there was an open parking spot. Yay! There are only a few parking spaces (5 or 6) so when there's an open one, you're lucky. :) I went up to the counter and there were just a couple people in front of me, but it didn't take long for my turn to come, and I ordered 2 tomato Royals (Royal without onion). 2 fries (one si3) and 2 large drinks. It took maybe 15 minutes for our order because although there aren't many people at the counter, there were at least 4 doordash orders that were picked up while I was waiting. Needless to say, they were busy even if didn't look like it. I didn't mind waiting because I knew that the burger was worth the wait. I was not disappointed one bit. My son and I both enjoyed the burgers and fries. In fact, we returned the following Monday (MLK, Jr. Day) but they were closed. :( Recommend? YES!!

Always awesome, came here as a kid, and recently, burgers are still as good as way back then, I'm sure the rest is too. I highly recommend getting the app so you can order before you get there.

Hands down the best burger in all of Hawaii, forget the gourmet foo foo shirt and get back to basics. It's been around for so long because of superior food quality and a recipe that has been perfect for decades. This I a must stop at least once every time I come back home.

This place has to be almost everyone's goto for burgers. A mainstay since I was in high school down the street, W&M is one of those places that almost everyone knows about. A very small place on Waialae Avenue, with very limited parking, it is nonetheless a very popular takeout option for burgers. They use a marinated patty that is grilled to order so the wait may be somewhat long depending on the time of day. But any wait is absolutely worth it! The burgers are juicy, awesome and tasty, and the simple fries are a good complement. And the service is great and very friendly. Plan your visit and plan your order in advance to make the most of this outstanding and historic eatery.

Go early to beat the crowd and get parking. W&M is almost as famous for the terrible parking lot as much as the food. But we all go because of the food. There have been changes over the years, and I mean the 45+ years I've been going, which is expected. The food is still not to be missed. They are happy to modify any menu offering, just ask.Vegetarian options: They have a veggie burgerParking: There is limited free parking. The street in front is busy with no parking. The lot is small and you will often get trapped by others that double park.
