Disability Disregarded, Duty of Care Abandoned — A Deeply Traumatic Experience”
I never thought I’d leave a review like this — but I owe it to other families, especially those travelling with neurodiverse children, to speak plainly.
During our stay at The Ritz-Carlton, what was meant to be a long-saved, joyful trip as a single mother turned into a traumatic experience. Due to a hotel-hosted party, my daughter and I were physically thrown through the air. She is neurodiverse and was visibly distressed. Instead of offering care or even checking if we were injured, the response from staff was not just dismissive — it was dehumanising.
A security guard approached us not to help, but to imply that because of my daughter’s disability, the incident somehow “wasn’t a big deal.” I was told later that he would be “educated” — but that doesn’t undo the moment where my child’s trauma was downplayed.
No medical assistance was offered, despite multiple requests. I filled out an incident report, which I was later refused a copy of. I was passed off to the hotel’s insurance company who, incredibly, offered me a $500 voucher — as though my child’s distress and my sustained injuries were a minor inconvenience.
I want to be clear: I didn’t ask for compensation. I asked for care. For dignity. For someone to treat us like people who had just been hurt. Instead, I was made to feel like a burden — or worse, as though we had done something wrong.
To other families, particularly those navigating the world with disabled children: please be cautious. This hotel failed in its basic duty of care — and no luxury service or brand name can excuse that.

Genuinely one of the most majestic places on earth. The beauty of this place is hard to put into words. Also fun fact they filmed part of catching fire here!

Friendly staff. Room service chicken tenders were disappointing. They were hard and dry. There are free washing machine and dryers, ice machine and water filling stations. There's a market stocked with snacks, drinks, essentials, and souvenirs. There are specialty shops inside that sell clothing, swim wear, and jewelry. Coffee spot always had a long line. Pool closes at 10pm. Most food options close at 9pm with limited menu.

This is not your typical Ritz Carlton brand hotel. While you are paying for the brand the standards are not there as they are still transitioning. Location, view, lobby area and staff are awesome but rooms are run down. Pictures attached of the quality of the linens placed in the rooms. Beddings didn’t look clean, rooms looked dirty as they are worn out. We came back from the beach after the room was cleaned and found peanuts in our room which we never carry due to allergies. Reported this to the front desk and were told someone will get back to us and till now, nothing. There are 3 pools, 1 is adult only, a smaller one attached to the water slide. Pool was no fun as it was closed due to some kid throwing up or popping. We stayed mainly at the beach area which was crowded but a better option than the pool. Beach is shared amongst other hotel or airbnb guest. There is no security in place to ensure outsiders are not wondering around the facility’s. We had random people sitting in the beach area allocated for guest. There is zero monitoring so you have to be careful when leaving your things behind. Service was good at the sunset and lobby bar. Beach bar area was very slow. There is a coffee shop in the lobby offering breakfast items cheaper than eating at the restaurant. Overall this location is one and done for me unless they revamp and live up to the Ritz Carlton standards. For now not worth your money.

Car was valeted July 21, 2025. Back bumper damaged to my 2025 Lexus. Called and spoke to Olivia, who has not called back after reviewing video. It has been 5 days since our discussion.

We weren't guests but I want to share our experience yesterday during the tsunami warning. The Ritz was an evacuation point since it is six floors. We and about 75 other refugees went to the 5th floor and sat in the hallway. The staff was absolutely great. Very welcoming. They distributed comforters and pillows, drinks and snacks. They updated us about every hour until the warning was lifted.

Let me start by saying I’ve stayed at several Ritz-Carlton properties and also at Turtle Bay prior to its rebranding. Unfortunately, this location doesn’t quite meet the standard of service typically associated with the Ritz-Carlton name.
It feels as though the property was rebranded without fully retraining the staff. While the team members were friendly and did a good job overall, they clearly lacked the refined touch and consistency expected from Ritz-Carlton hospitality.
Notably, the rooms did not include the signature robes and slippers that I’ve come to expect at every other Ritz-Carlton I’ve visited. The pool bar offerings also felt mismatched for the guest profile, and amenities like towels and sunscreen were self-serve—something that detracts from the luxury experience.
That said, the valet team was a true highlight: always prompt, professional, and reliable. Roy’s restaurant on-site was exceptional, as was the breakfast service in the main dining room. Watching the surf school right from the rocks was a unique and memorable experience.
One disappointment was the cancellation of our hotel-arranged excursions—while not the hotel’s fault, the communication around it was frustrating. The cancellation email arrived after 5 PM, and unfortunately, no staff were available to assist or offer alternatives at that time.
The property itself is stunning and has tremendous potential to be a crown jewel in the Ritz-Carlton portfolio. However, it’s simply not there yet. With the right attention to detail and improved service training, it could become a truly world-class destination.

This beautiful resort offers so many things to do. Even if all you want to do is lay out at the beach, they provide palapas and bungalow's for you to do so.
Rooms are and villas are well appointed and maintained.
I attended my cousin's wedding here and was able to enjoy all the amenities.
With a private beach, literally having no public crowd made it more enjoyable.
Staff are friendly and welcoming.

The resort itself was beautiful, clean, and truly felt like a luxurious property. However, there were several disappointing aspects during our stay.
First, when we arrived, a staff member took our luggage to deliver it to the room, but it didn’t arrive until 40 minutes later. We were told that they couldn’t find it because there was no name tag, but no one had asked for our name. We were given a slip with a number on it, which the front desk staff collected during check-in, so it seemed like there was a lack of communication between the staff.
Second, we requested a microwave through guest services, but it took 50 minutes to be delivered. We were worried the request had been missed, so we called twice to follow up. Although we were told it was on the way and received apologies, it still arrived too late and we were unable to eat as planned.
Third, after checking out, we were charged twice for the same post-stay expenses. The resort fees, meals, and services during the stay totaled $1,072, and this amount had already been charged to our card in two separate transactions during our stay. However, two days after checkout, the same amount was charged again, resulting in a total charge of $2,144. If I hadn’t checked my card statement, I wouldn’t have noticed such a large duplicate charge. This was very disappointing.
While we enjoyed the resort itself, these issues made the overall experience feel unworthy of the high price. The service did not meet expectations, and I left feeling quite dissatisfied.

One of the most beautiful hotels I’ve ever visited. The running trail is the highlight, had the best run here. Truly a gem of the north shore. And you don’t need to eat in the resort, you can drive out to get to the food trucks near by, not too far.
