We rented from Aloha this year after always booking our cars thru Costco on our previous trips. It was important to us to try to support and on-island business and we were rewarded with a seamless, friendly and professional service. They came so promptly after we grabbed our bags and the gal at the check in was so lovely and proficient. The car was exactly what we expected, hassle free and the total bill was far less than we have paid on past trips. Return was seamless, again the employee that drove us to the airport (it's maybe 5 minutes) was so kind. We will always rent from them now, plus they have what might be the cutest office cat ever -- see you next year, Ace and the Aloha O'hana.

We had another great experience with "Aloha Rent A Car", also known as "Al West's Vans". We have rented cars twice here and both times were upgraded to larger cars. This time we rented a mid-sized vehicle, but were upgraded to an almost new, Ford Escape (only 23,709 miles on it). I had never driven this model and they were very helpful in going over the features with me. And the price was great - $218.37 for a rental from Oct 29, 2023 til Nov 6, 2023. They also provide free shuttle service to and from the Maui airport (OGG). The people we rented our condo from, recommended this agency and I'm glad they did.

After a decent initial experience with this rental car company on a previous trip on the Road to Hana, I decided to use them again, expecting a similarly smooth process. Unfortunately, my recent encounter has significantly altered my perception of them. One major issue was the inconsistency between their online promotions and the reality when you call in. Their website, which isn't updated regularly, advertised specific specials that were not honored/available (misleading in general) when I called, leading to a frustrating conversation about rates and policies. A specific instance that further dampened my experience involved an inquiry about their "2-hour late return window grace period" policy. I wanted to gain clarity and navigate around an additional 24-hour charge due to a slightly later return time. However, I was met with a response that was both unaccommodating and unexpectedly confrontational. I found myself being accused of trying to exploit a local business. Then, I got a disheartening lecture about the importance of supporting local businesses - a principle I agree with and one of the primary reasons I chose their service over larger, potentially cheaper platforms like the airport agencies or TURO. My intention was not to undermine their business but to seek a fair deal, especially given that their pricing is notably higher than other options. Unfortunately, the conversation took a turn for the worse, ending abruptly with the representative alleging aggressiveness on my part and hanging up on me. I advocate for the importance of local businesses and generally anticipate a higher degree of customer service and mutual respect, especially when people make intentional choices to support them. Sadly, this experience was glaringly different from that expectation. In reflection, not only has my opinion been swayed, but I feel compelled to share this experience with my extended family, who also frequents Maui and rents from Aloha Rent-A-Car. It is disheartening that this terrible interaction has not only lost them my future business but that of my family as well. Despite this incident, I remain supportive of local businesses and will seek alternative local options in the future.

Very patient with us and easy to talk to. Best business I have ever had with a rental company. My husband and I came to Maui for our anniversary. They were so accommodating and willing to change things for us when we didn't like our first vehicle. I couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Each summer, I come home to Maui, and renting a car for a long period of time costs a lot, especially on Maui. I thought about buying a car and leaving it at a relative's house, but there are added costs and hassles to that. The vehicle I got was perfect for me and my little daughter. It not only looked cute, it worked really well and had only 35,000 miles. The process of receiving and dropping off my car was really easy and it involved the parking lot. The baggage claim is far from the area that the car is parked, so it was a little difficult to roll all of my bags to the car, but when dropping the car off, it was close to where I had to check in. I was actually a little sad to return the car. I will definitely check out the prices for a car next summer. I hope I get the same great rate!

Don't rent from here! I went online to reserve a car but never received an email confirmation. So I called the office to see if they could find my reservation and they confirmed they DID NOT have it. They suggested I go online and try again or they could book it for me on the phone. Instead I went with another company after reading the terrible reviews. Turns out they did have my reservation and I'm being charged a $30 cancellation fee for a car rental they said they never had. And instead of being helpful, the assistant manager was just completely RUDE. I've never experienced so much hostility from a mistake someone else made! She could've just acknowledged they made a mistake and waived the fee instead she doubled down and was RUDE just for $30?? No way $30 is more important than their reputation. Terrible customer service and I didn't even rent a car from them. Heed the bad reviews and rent from somewhere else.

Great family-owned business, used their services on my honeymoon. Very courteous and have that Hawaiian hospitality as soon as you enter the door.

We have used Sloha Rent a Car for 5 years now but this year has been a huge disappointment. From the 75 minute wait at the airport to tha car's engine and low tire lights coming on and it dying constantly . We took it back onto to be told theu didn't have anymore cars and had their mechanic check it out telling us the gas cap was loose and the tire 2as just s sensor going out. Two more days passed and the automatic transmission was stuck and the dual manual transmission would go in and out. We insisted on another car which they finally agreed to but not before asking if we wanted to pay for an upgrade and telling us we would have been liable if the transmission had gone. Whaaaaat! Kim was helping us and never once apologized for the inconvenience. From beginning to end this has put a damper on our vacation and cost us 3÷ hours of time we can't get back.Their once local hospitality and cheaper local cars is gone.I would think twice before renting from them.

**COCKROACHES** Absolutely disgusting. We're traveling with a large family, 6 of which is their first time in Hawaii. Therefore, my husband and I wanted to make this trip absolutely unforgettable....lucky for us Aloha Rent A Car has made it just that but not in a good way. When we got the van, we knew there were limited options to fit such a large family so we didn't mind it being a little run down. However, when we opened the door my family saw a cockroach run across the floor of the van. We thought that was super nasty but we only saw one and gave the renal car the benefit of the doubt and loaded up the car and went to the beach. When we returned to the vehicle and opened the door, we noticed very large cockroaches and well as baby ones. We knew we were infested at this point. To top it off, the sliding door to the van would not open from the outside...someone had to crawl through the front seat and open it from the inside. The baby roaches were crawling on our luggage. Anyone staying in an AirBnB knows there's fees for everything. The last thing we needed is to track even one roach inside the AirBnB and it then become infected as well. We immediately called the Aloha Rental once we discovered the problem was a lot more than we had originally thought. We were told they were completely booked and could not give us another vehicle. They do not provide refunds so the best they could do was give us 10% off credited to our NEXT visit in Hawaii. They said they could put "traps" but could not do anything else. She also told me that all the vehicles are like that. We have been to Maui multiple times and have NEVER experienced such a thing. We tried everything...asking for two vehicles instead of another van...nothing. Terrible customer service, did not seem willing to try to figure out a solution in the slightest...mind you we have this vehicle for the next 7 days. This vehicle should not have even been in service to begin with.My husband bought bug spray which appears to be working for now. These photos are after we sprayed. Best advice I could give is steer clear from this place if you want to avoid a headache in the very beginning of your vacation to this beautiful island.

Second time renting from them, would recommend. Cars are a little more "local" which I like, prices are better than anywhere else on the island, and in my experience the customer service has been top tier. If you're looking for a brand new car and a fancy rental desk you can stand in line at for an hour go somewhere else. I like walking off the plane and driving away. Already planning next years visit

I'll keep this short- just DON'T USE Them. After 20 plus years of personally doing so , and after sending dozens of other customers their way, things have changed. The cars they use, just keep getting older with fundamental safety problems ( lights , brakes, steering) that are not addressesd , and when something goes wrong- well your on your own. The real change, however, is they have a manager ( Kahili) who is not just rude, but outright hostile to customers. Whatever money you think your saving , well when your long anticipated vacation is ruined by his hostilty to his own customers- your likely first contact with a Maui business, you won't feel like you've saved anything at all. You'll wonder why you came to to Maui at all. maybe that's what he really intends I was in the service business for 40 years and I always told my employees if you can't be courteous to the customers , then get GET OUT of the business. Go back and do whatever it is YOU THINK you should be doing , but don't ruin both the business who employs you and the customers experience because your having a bad day or just don't like haoles to begin with. The absolute worth experience I had with a car rental agency in 50 years of personal and business travel! Use at your own risk!

Zero stars if possible! Absolutely the rudest staff. Flight was late inbound on 12/22 and was told too bad for you and your children were closing as "we" have lives. Absolutely abysmal display of compassion. AVOID at all costs!!!!!
