I called from Canada 5 times and tried to get ahold of the staff in Maui to ask a question about my rental. Why would you rent me a car to pick up at 11:00 pm yet the hours of operation end at 11:00. I was told by a customer service agent that I would have to pick up my rental the next day.I then had to take an Uber from the airport to my condo and then back to the airport the next day and then was told by the staff in Maui that they stay open until the last flight lands. They said they were there until 1:00am$25.00 in phone calls$100.00 in Uber feesLoss of one day of rental yet chargedI also sent multiple emails to customer service requesting my 30% discount (as advertised) which does not appear on my statement. Not the best way to start a vacation for my family.Horrible customer serviceYou should not list the Maui office number if it only takes you to a call centre. That’s why I called that number to speak to somebody in Maui.When i went to leave the parking garage the attendant asked for a copy of the email I was just sent for the rental, I told them I have not been sent one. I showed them my original reservation and the guy said fine, scanned the barcode on the vehicle, which was different from what I originally rented, and let me get out. Also, “check engine” light was on the whole time. (10 days)The staff in Maui were perfect. Easy pick up and drop off. It wasn't their fault.

Similar to many others, I had a horrible experience with AVIS OGG location. Generally, being an AVIS preferred member has been a good experience. However, in this case it was disturbing to say the least. The car offered to me was old and had many dents and scratches. The agent at the desk warned me slightly saying "please carefully click pictures of the vehicle" which I took partially seriously.The vehicle we got was full of multiple scratches and dents. I tried to methodically take as many pictures as possible. Pictures are attached. While the car drove good without issues, my wife found a big cockroach later in the day. Picture attached. And when we returned the car the next day, to my utmost surprise, the agent said "there is one dent that is not accounted for. It was damaged in your possession". I said I have taken many pictures. But looking at all my pictures, I realized that I had not taken pictures of the front right bumper where she showed me the scratches. It was a gotcha moment for me, and I felt so stupid not to have been more careful in taking more pictures of every possible scratch or asking for a new car at the first place. Despite all the tech involved, this industry works on mutual trust and AVIS breached my trust there and then.I realize each such facility is a franchise with own way of managing customer experience. Unfortunately, the people at this particular facility seem expert at taking advantage of people by offering dented unclean cars and then putting blame on them. Such an exceptionally beautiful island with great people can do with more honest and sincere approach from this facility.

The Jeep Wrangler was in terrible condition. Bald tires, Illegal tires. Only given one key fob which had a dead battery. Windshield wipers were bad. Old vehicle. 46k miles

I was initially concerned after reading reviews however I went ahead (via costco).We got a new car, in excellent shape, and had no issues at all with Avis nor the vehicle.Smooth rental from beginning to end.

An adventure in the upsale & hidden fees. Charged a deposit without prior disclosure…24 hrs after return it has not been returned. Hidden fees & taxes … upsale pressure even tho i had entered my needed options. A $300 quote ended up in a $700+ charge to my account. We felt gouged! I have used avis for 30 yrs… will comparison shop more next time.

This car was the worst example of a rental I’ve ever had in 30+ years of Avis loyalty. It was filthy, unsafe and heavily damaged. I asked for an exchange and was told take it or leave it. Very sad experience. Very 3rd world.

Good experience for us. Sign up for the preferred program and walk right to your car. Efficient at pickup and drop off, vehicle was a Kia K5 w 10k miles on it in pretty good shape.

Beware of 100% electric car fleet from Avis -- little to no infrastructure in place on the island, including the most high end resorts in Maui. We couldn't get out car up Haleakala pass with a full charge. Go gas only.

Jeep had 56,000 miles on it, not very clean either. AC did not work for several minutes every time after starting the car and the radio blared without being able to turn it down. One time unable to lock the car remotely so had to use the key, when I opened the door the alarm started and would not stop for at least 10 minutes until I finally figured out that I needed to start the car, put it into drive and actually drive it for the alarm to stop. Could not park in public parking as the vehicle had $90 in unpaid parking fees from previous renter (s).

Had a pleasant experience at this OGG Avis location. Staff were incredibly friendly and the Avis Preferred experience was quick and efficient. Upon landing I got an app notification that the car was ready and which parking spot it was in. Simply walked up and threw our luggage in and went on our vacation. The Kia Forte we received was in great condition. Tires had plenty of tread, although we topped off the PSI being a little low at Costco. Exterior and interior were clean and we had no problems tackling all of our driving on the island. Return was also very simple at drop off and overall had no complaints with the whole experience!
