Time and queues to check out the vehicle were ridiculous. About 90 minutes in the line and only two staff working. We'd hustled from the airport too so the line behind us was FAR longer. The vehicle then had brake failure coming down Haleakala. Had to swap for a new vehicle on day 2 of our holiday. Checking the vehicle back in was swift. Don't think I would book with Dollar again simply as we had seamless experiences with both Enterprise and Avis on other islands.

Horrendous customer service!!!! 8000 people in line and 3 people working. Took two hours to get our rental car. I could have swim around the island in the time it took to get our vehicle. Complete sh#tshow. Would never rent a vehicle from them again.

As a company, you know how many reservations you have. Why would you only have one employee on a Saturday Morning? And not to mention they just tell you crap the keys yourself and find the car. And people wonder why third party apps are thriving.

This is the worst experience I've ever had renting a car. Waited in line for over an hour here at the airport in Maui. There are literally hundreds waiting and four representatives working on customers.

Do yourself a favor and get a different rental car that is not dollar or thrifty at this location. Even with a reservation for a car the line to get in the place took numerous hours. These rental car places are located right next to the airport and have long lines for no reason. The Hertz and every other car rental place is empty except for these two rental car establishments because the others appear to have way better service at this location. We had to wait in a line for well over an hour. There was an attendant that would come and shout at people to get in line which curled outside the door. The attendant was also only letting one person in per party which led us to have complications when we needed to get in to show our ID so numerous people could drive the rental car. This location really needs to work on customer service as well as efficiency because they seem to lack both. I am taking off a star for the lack of timely service. I am taking off another star for the customer service. I am taking off a final star because the establishment did not uphold our reservation and we ended up having to pay for an upgrade. Do not go here if you can help it.

This company is a scam! I prepaid for our rental and got a good price. After a long flight and waiting in line for an hour we were exhuasted and out of it. we were scammed with upgrades and charged $800 more dollars!! I kept trying to call their customer service to get my money back and keep being told I need to go back in person to fix but I can't get an immediate answer if they will actually return my money. Really put a damper on my vacation.

To fully enjoy Maui, a car rental was a must. However, we hadn't expected the entire process to eat up a whole day. We easily made our way to the collection of car rentals from OGG by tram. I highly suggest that if you have luggage from baggage claim and companions, send one person to wait in line at the corresponding car rental. We waited for 2.5 hours after landing to complete the paperwork so might as well have someone start the pain early. If you intend on driving down the Road to Hana, I recommend getting car insurance added on. After going to the lot and selecting our vehicle, I noticed that each car had variable cleanliness. Every car had sufficient connectivity and upgrades but I'd choose one with a clean exterior to avoid fines. Once again there was a line to drive out with the car and they always seemed short on employees with processing administrative work. After twenty minutes, we went on our way. Unfortunately we got a flat tire during our trek through Hana and had to make a multitude of calls to make sure our insurance covered it. This took half a day to complete and upon arrival, the staff members forgot to give us proper paperwork to get our new car approved. Hence we waited for 45 minutes in line only to be turned back to repeat the process again due to their mistakes. Luckily we didn't have any strange miscellaneous charges but the customer service processing was excruciating. I would select a different car rental service next time to save time given the prices were close enough.

If you place any value whatsoever on your vacation time, do not rent a car from this place. Sure, you might save a hundred bucks, but you will wait in line for 90 minutes to two hours. I have already waited over an hour, with at least 20 parties ahead of me. And of course, Dollar has two people working. This is routine, apparently. It's not like they didn't know they had a hundred rentals arriving this afternoon...

I would have put no star if that was a choice. In a world where service is the name of the game if you want to run a good business Dollar car rental has failed miserably. I'm in vacation on Hawaii with my daughter. She is 40 years old and I almost put her on the rental but because of the extra charge she said it's not necessary you can drive mom. Unfortunately I ended up in the hospital had to be taken by ambulance. She is at the hotel with a car but she cannot come and pick me up at the hospital because she's not on the rental. Dollar will not make any exceptions or accommodations to help us out. Do not use this company they are not service oriented.

DO NOT RENT FROM HERE! The deserve 0 stars. We did have a couple of issues when we were first trying to get our car. That was handled to the best of these clown's ability. Then why one week after we return the car, they decide to charge us again for the same amount we were to be charged upon return. Why? Why the f*** are we getting charged a week later? We call try to see wtf is going on and they tell us all this BS about the specific car we got cost that amount... weird. If that is the case, shouldn't you tell customers that rather than telling them to grab whatever car from row 5? Get your s*** together. Shady company with shady a** policies. Clown parade, clown brigade. Better off taking a damn Uber.

I had a similar experience to some of the other reviews here. That's what I get for not checking reviews before booking. This really is a misleading company that tries to sneak in charges while trying to mask them as included or a temporary charge that will come off after you return the car. They lure in people with slightly cheaper quotes than anybody else but by the time it's all said and done you will be paying DOUBLE what they initially quote you at.

I would give this 0 stars if I could. This is the most pathetic excuse of a car rental business I have ever experienced. The level of rude and incompetent service we got is truly unbelievable. We rented a brand new Tahoe for over $1,300 for a week. The first drive the battery went out. It had barely 15,000 miles on it. Do they seriously not inspect cars before renting them out? We called and spoke to individuals who clearly have never heard of customer service before. Seriously you work in hospitality in a state that thrives off tourism and you don't know what customer service is? They told us it was our problem and that they would charge us $75 minimum to drive out and jump the car and that they would under no circumstances give us a new car. Like seriously we paid $1,300 and have had the car for all of 20 hours and they pull this s**** They 100% ruined a full day of vacation for us. We paid to get the car jumped then drove the 45 min back to the airport to get a new car and received even worse service when we arrived. Long story short this place is absolute trash and should not be in business whatsoever.
