Beware of renting an EV while on Maui. If you happen to be offered an EV from Hertz while in Maui DO NOT ACCEPT IT unless you want to spend your entire vacation waiting for your vehicle to charge. This is providing you can actually find a charging station. Hertz doesn't tell you there's less than a handful of charging stations on the island. We found out the hard way.We took the EV from Hertz, it was the same price as a regular car, so we thought we'd try it out and do our part for the environment. We spent 2 days looking for a place to charge, when we finally found one, we had to download an app, then create an account, link it to a credit card, and then we were able to charge..... which would've taken 8 hours to complete. Hertz never explains this is the system. We had to learn the hard way and if it wasn't for the grace of strangers to help explain it to us we would've spent ALL DAY sitting in Lowes parking lot waiting for vehicle to compete the charging process.To the credit of Hertz, they did allow us to change the car for a regular has powered one, after i called to complain. There's very few places to charge, and even fewer "fast charge" stations. EVs seem like a great idea- and they are- provided there enough places to charge vehicles. Sadly, on Maui the infrastructure just isn't there yet. Don't fall for Hertz B.S. about their EVs while on the island.

The cars all seem to be very dirty. The key fob battery was dying in the first car we were assigned. The second car was so dirty I was afraid to sit in it with nice clothes. The third car - the one we took - also had problems. On our fifth night, the hotel valet could not get it to start. The hotel sent us to our reservation with their courtesy vehicle while they jumped our rental and kept it running for a while in their garage area. The next morning, we had a paid activity scheduled very early on the other side of the island. We had to call the valet well in advance to make sure that they could start our rental so we could drive ourselves. I'm not impressed with the cars, but the service at the counter when checking out was friendly.

My friend who rented the car waited till we got to the car rental to add insurance $34.00 per day and a second driver (another $14.00 a day) which I refused. Had she does it all before there would have been discounts but but they know they have you when you are at the counter ready to drive away.

I WOULD PUT A ZERO IF I COULD! Horrible service waited outside for an hour after my flight for a rental car I already registered for months in advance. only one worker poor customer service and they only wanted to get help if there were gold members. after waiting 45 min a gold member came and they waited on them. WILL Never rent a car with this company again. put a damper on my vacation for sure

We made reservations for a car rental online. The woman that "helped us" was not the most friendly person. Since the reservation was under my name she wanted to run my credit card. My husband wanted to put it on his card. She told us no. I asked if she could just put his name down as the driver and she made it sound like it was impossible. I asked her to please try. She begrudgingly attempted to do so. It turns out that she was able to do that! She took his card and handed it back saying that the address didn't match the address on his license. (His card is through his business address). Instead of asking any follow up questions, she bluntly told us that she can't rent us a car. What?! There wasn't a soul on this place. She told us we need to cancel the reservation online. She couldn't do that for us even though she wouldn't rent us the car. She smiled finally when she got to tell us that. I was unable to speak to anyone on the phone when I called Hertz main number. It gives you the option to speak to the local Hertz location which of course no one answered. I was charged $35 for a no show fee because of this employee. On the upside, we walked around the corner to Alamo and they rented us a van in less than 10 minutes. Very friendly and helpful staff. Hertz must be doing great if they can afford to blow off customers. Hertz should probably brush up on customer service training. The person attending to us had zero problem solving or critical thinking skills. I would have felt better if she would have asked her manager for some help. She didn't think to do that.

So under staffed it Hertz. They have only one person working each side. They have 8 stations completely unmanned. The line has not moved and my back hertz. Recommend they staff it better to accommodate the amount of customers they have

Disappointing Experience with Hertz Car Rental - OGG AirportI recently had a rental car experience with Hertz at OGG Airport, and unfortunately, it fell short of my expectations. As a Presidents Circle member, I anticipated a seamless and efficient process, but the reality proved to be quite different.Lack of Available Cars and Dismissive Agent:Upon arrival, I was disappointed to learn that there were no cars available, despite my reserved status. This was a significant letdown as a loyal customer. To make matters worse, the agent named Chad behind the counter displayed a dismissive attitude when I voiced my concerns. He seemed uninterested in addressing the issue, even suggesting canceling our reservation instead of finding a satisfactory solution.Manager's Intervention:Thankfully, the situation took a turn for the better when Manager Mike stepped in. He showed great professionalism and customer-oriented skills by actively listening to our concerns and making genuine efforts to resolve the problem. Mike's intervention ultimately resulted in us receiving the car we had initially requested, and his commitment to customer satisfaction was commendable.Overall Disappointment:While Manager Mike's assistance was appreciated, the overall experience left much to be desired. The lack of available cars, coupled with the dismissive attitude of Agent Chad, significantly impacted my perception of Hertz's service at OGG Airport. As a Presidents Circle member, I expected better treatment and a smoother process, but unfortunately, that was not the case.Conclusion:My experience with Hertz Car Rental at OGG Airport was disappointing, resulting in a two-star rating. The lack of available cars upon arrival and the dismissive attitude of Agent Chad reflected poorly on the company's commitment to customer satisfaction. While Manager Mike's intervention helped salvage the situation, it could not fully offset the overall disappointment. I hope Hertz takes this feedback into consideration and works towards improving their inventory management and customer service standards at OGG Airport.

10 check in desks. 2 staff. 70 people lined up. Then the car pick up mess. Avoid hertz at all costs. Haha another hour and still no sign of a vehicle. 3 hours to pick up and THEN the car is a class lower than booked...

Awful service. We had reservations for our car for 11. By the time we landed and got luggage it was past noon. We then proceeded to stand in the parking lot after checking in with 30-40 families just waiting for cars. All in all we waited for well over an hour with no end in sight. We ended up going to Sixt and were met with great service. The people were rude and unhelpful- I would avoid this Hertz at all cost!

Our experience was bad with Hertz OGG. We arrived on June 18, 2023 as a group of 10 people. 3 individuals had pre-paid for Hertz vehicles. When we got to the storefront to check in and get our cars, there was a line 20 people deep that took us 1-1/2 hours to get to an agent…Originally there were 3 agents working, but one left while we all stood in line. Then once we all got checked in, one of our parties went to get their small SUV and we’re then told in the garage they would have to wait another 1-3 hours as they were waiting for vehicles to be returned. The agent never mentioned this at all. Ultimately we had to squeeze them into the other vehicles we got (1-economy and 1-large SUV) and they had to spend a bunch of time on the phone to get their pre-paid $ back. Time on Maui is precious to travelers and getting a car should not take up that much of it…especially when the reservation is prepaid. I would advise against using Hertz at OGG as there are other options that got people in and out and respected their vacation time.

As a president circle customer I was disappointed with their customer service because the staff was very rude. The car I received the wiper blades didn’t work properly, car smelled fishy, and apple carplay was laggy.The Return staff made the return fast and easy easy.
