Booked at 6pm for a 8pm arrival, so wasn't expecting to have someone there to greet us, however: - owner did not respond to email via booking.com and we therefore could not get into the bedrooms for the night. Thankfully one of the other renters was there to text Editha for us and confirm the door code to get into the unit itself. Ended up sleeping on the couches. - shared main kitchen/bathroom with three locked bedroom units; the fridge was unplugged and had smelly leftovers in it. The floor was filthy and couches overturned, with termite droppings and a termite spray can nearby. - the bathroom has mold along the edge of the tub and a strong mold odour. - owner finally responded to emails the following day late morning with the bedroom code and wifi information. - another tenant let himself into the unit to get some of his things, so questionable security for your belongings - this is in a residential neighborhood, if you don't have a car your options are expensive taxi, lyft, or a long walk to the bus that only runs twice a day Free, stable wifi. Bedsheets and towels were clean when we finally got into the bedroom. Working small AC unit in the bedroom and ceiling fan. Shared porch with furniture. Bed looked new so might have been recently replaced, another tenant thought there were recently bedbugs with the old one.

As I have to say no one cleaned the bath bathroom for 9 days that I was there. Make sure you wear your shoes as someone has or will pee on the floor in the bathroom. Yuck, that said, see the attached photos below. One good thing, no two the sculpture and the sunset was okay.Rooms: This is a hostel, not a hotel as we were led to believe. Along with getting the wrong room that we paid for.

Charged $170 cleaning fee for two rooms which were anything but clean. Overpriced to begin with, but to nearly double the cost with a cleaning fee is absurd.Both fridges, one in the room and one in the kitchen, both had leftover food in them and smelled absolutely disgusting. Opened them for maybe 5 seconds but the smell lingered for hours.Only one room has private bathroom.Owner did not pick up the phone to let us in, thankfully the neighbors helped.The "no refunds" policy is very clearly stated--I can now see why.

The bathtub had soap scum and sand in it, under the bed it was like it had never been cleaned this caused me to wonder why they charge a fee for cleaning and how thorough they really are.

Very poor service, no one was there when I checked in and when I called they never answered the phone, I called the day before to confirm and Nothing. The booking site couldn't get a hold of then as well. The Number listed isn’t even the write number for the location. The location was run down with trash all over and broken furniture. There was foul smell as well. There neighbor even said they didn't know where they were. When the booking site finally emailed them she gave a different number. When I called the lady was very rude said she didn’t care and that there were no refunds even though I was incoveniced by no one being there. She hung up the phone. If your planning to visit Hawaii you can do a lot better anywhere else but at the Ahi Hale a better name would be “Ahi HELL!” For horrible service and location. This was definitely the worst part of my trip to Hawaii!

Worst ever accommodation experience !When I arrived at Ahi Hale in Kona Kailua, I’ve realized it wasn’t an hotel but an inhabited house with an access code that the owner omitted to give me. Since she didn’t answer to my messages and calls, after a while I had to call Booking. Eventually, after one hour and an half, I was able to enter in the house without any excuse from the owner. There, I’ve found that wifi was blocked, the toilet flush was broken and there were cockroaches in the bathroom. But this isn’t finished. Since unfortunately I booked it for two different dates, the second one, when I came back late to the house, I discovered that the owner put out all my stuff and changed the room access code because my card had been blocked by my bank. Either I could pay (but I had only one bank and it was Sunday local time) or I need to leave what I did at night. I even wonder how booking could have listed this sh….

DON’T BOOK!!!!!Editha, the property owner, is a scam artist. Our check-in time was 2:00pm and we arrived about 5p. We were unable to get into our room (that we rented and paid for over a month in advance). There were keypads on the doors that we were never given a code to. So, we call the number listed on booking.com and no answer. No one answered the phone for 3hrs. We spend almost that same amount of time with customer service trying to find last minute accommodations to no avail. Editha finally calls us back 3hrs later and we explain that we’ve been locked out this whole time and our evening plans had to be canceled. She said, “I did my best, the Wi-Fi is on the fridge.” And hung up. We were mad and exhausted. She was rude, unapologetic, unprofessional, just awful.When we did get into the place, the lamps were broken and no lightbulbs. Bug feces all over every window sill. There was hardly any silverware. The worst part was the moldy shower curtain. There was mold from top to bottom. This place and Editha are disgusting. Do not book!

Paid for the rental before leaving for Hawaii. Never received the address. Went to the address on the receipt, the landlady's home (the only address we ever got). Got chewed out by one of the neighbors because they thought she was renting her home (apparently against HOA rules) -- after we explained the situation, another neighbor called the landlady. We then got chewed out by the landlady for going to her house (after she didn't send us the address for the rental), and she acted like we needed to apologize to her. After finally getting the address to the rental, we showed up and met her and her fiance. She proceeded to give us an unsolicited recital of her grievances with her neighbors, including telling us she had wanted to strangle the HOA president, and that the husband of the woman who was now president of the HOA has recently died, and she "didn't even ask God for it". It certainly wasn't something two tired, frustrated travelers really wanted or needed to hear about.We also got two bath towels, no hand towels, and no washcloths to last two people two days, but that was a trifle compared to what we went through getting into the place in the first place.There were issues with the physical condition of the site, and very off-putting behavior from the landlady. I definitely would not recommend the location, nor the proprietor, as an option, based on our experience.

SECURITY ISSUES- UNPROFESSIONAL- RUDE - HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICEI never give bad review but this time I just cannot overlook the this one.** The lock of the room door was broken. I only realised it when someone opened my room door while I was sleeping. When I checked I realised that even after locking the door from inside it was not locking.**I booked the room using booking.com and allmy payments go through there from my credit card saved on the app. Except for this one!!They Made us wait for almost 2 hours due to their payment machine not working. The owner was so lazy to be present at the property to deal with this and asked for all my credit card credentials over the phone even the CVV number. They took the credentials of 3 different credit cards from me over the phone( I did it because i had no other choice). My cards were working all over Hawaii except for Ahi Hale. It was the error in their system but they kept blaming me and also stated, "you can go to some other property". Thankfully I had cash on me so I made the payment. They made me me feel as if they are doing a favour on me by providing me a roof to spend the night.

The owner was very rude when we called about mix up with mattress we reserved but didn't get. Two stars only because some guy noticed the "owner" was being rude and took the phone from her and helped us. He was nice.The room description was 'double'. This means it has a double bed not that the room is large. The bed takes up most of the room.We stayed in 4 other locations during our visit and all were nicer places and cheaper.

Overbooked and initially agreed to refund me but decided to offer a “plan B” that would not work with my travel plans. When attempting to contact them to get the refund they initially offered they did not answer any of my phone calls or text messages on purpose. Extremely difficult to communicate with or get in contact with and overall a shady unethical business. Would not recommend. Would definitely consider reporting them to the BBB.
