Needed to change my pick up time to a half hour later. When I signed in online it said my vehicle that I reserved 6 months ago was no longer available and the only vehicle available was larger and $400 more. Staff nor management were helpful. They said my original car was not available and would not honor my original quote. When I got out to my assigned vehicle there were dozens of the brand of vehicle I had originally reserved. When I asked if I had not tried to change my pickup time and showed up a half hour late they said they would not have honored my reservation.Basically I was screwed either way.

A big praise to JOSH and the ALAMO-STAFF in Kailua-Kona on Hawaii-Island!!!The customer service is excellent! They work quickly and are very friendly!Even when we had to change the Jeep due to an accident, it wentquickly and JOSH was extremely helpful and nice!THANK YOU VERY MUCH, JOSH!We will only rent cars from Alamo on our future trips!!Greetings from Austria! We had to rent our vehicle because our van broke down. It took us a while to find a car to replace the one that died, and Alamo kept allowing us to extend at our original rate. I had to interact with at least five different people, and every single person was so kind, professional, accommodating and efficient. We have a lot of people we know who visit the island, and I will always recommend Alamo and its team. So thankful for great customer service!

I picked up this Alamo car at Kona, Hawaii. I have rented cars there from multiple other rental companies. The customer service with Alamo was 5-star. They were very quick to get me checked in and to my vehicle quickly. The biggest drawback was the cleanliness of the vehicle. It needed to be vacuumed, there was still sand in the floorboards. There was also white paint splashed on one of the rear windows. We were renting a large SUV, and this SUV had the most space, so I was unable to request a replacement (we needed the luggage space for our family). The vehicle itself ran very well and was comfortable, it was just the cleanliness that was an issue.

The car I got was immaculate inside and out. Fun, happy shuttle driver picked me up from the airport, lifting luggage on/off with a smile. Gave tips and asked all onboard how he could help.Check-in took longer than expected as I had everything ready to go, just needed the car.An employee outside with the cars showed me how to use the special features it had.I thought I got a deal on the rental but the long, long list of taxes added on is insane.

By far the the best rental car experience we’ve ever had. We’ve rented cars all over the country and several international cities as well. This was smooth, fast, hassle free, they easily made last minute changes. Everyone seemed happy to be there and were so kind.

Our experience with this car rental was disappointing. We rented a FORD Mustang convertible. We realized right away that the rear windows would NOT close completely with the electric window switches. We called and were initially told we could bring it back if we were really unhappy with it. We were also told we could get out of the car and physically pull them all the way shut. Great if it rains.. We decided to return it. When we got back to Alamo, they told them all Mustangs of this year had the same problem and FORD knew this but would do nothing, so the problem was FORD's. We left again. We thought our rental was with ALAMO-not FORD. I expected to be offered a different car...maybe even a "downgrade." I guess ALAMO has different views about customer service. We had just rented the same make/model from THRIFTY on Oahu for the previous week with no problems and everything worked. THRIFTY-5. ALAMO-1I already submitted a review after receiving a text request from ALAMO. They were going to follow up on it, but they never did. I won't be submitting email and address information to ALAMO, since ALAMO didn't bother to follow up onto the first time. I think ALAMO could contact their rental office in Kona.

The staff were so pleasant and nice! From pick-up to drop-off, we didn’t have any problems. The process was very smooth and quick. I’m so happy and impressed with Alamo! It’s one of my go-to car rentals when traveling.

Quick service. Had my car in 10 minutes. I was on the Big Island so that experience may be a little different than other islands or on the mainland. The only disappointment was I had only 4 cars to choose from. It wasn’t a lot full of cars in an isle. The outside and inside could have been cleaner. Could have been the timing with lots of drop offs that needed cleaning and the arrival times being the same. That would likely be the cause of so little inventory at the ready. The Kia I chose drove nicely and we were happy.

Rented from the Big Island Alamo in Kona. Arrived around 1:30 and got in/out quickly. They had reps to help people as well as self check kiosks that one of the reps helped us completed quickly.They let us select our vehicle from those within the category we rented. The vehicle was decently clean but we did find someone’s souvenir tucked in between the rear seats, so cleaning was obviously not that thorough.Checking in the vehicle was easy and also very quick. Staff were friendly and readily available to get us on our way.The Alamo shuttle to/from the airport was quick to pick us up, load/unload our luggage, and drop us off.

Process of renting a car was done very professionally and efficiently. I had a credit card issue with the card company inadvertently reflecting Hawaii as outside the United States and declining the transaction. The issue was resolved with a brief phone call where the card company corrected the error. I was offered several choices of rental vehicle, assisted with loading luggage, provided a listing of potential sites to visit during my stay. An A+ rating for service.

We book exclusively with Alamo based on past experiences with availability, prices, customer service & ease of p/u & d/o. However, cleanliness is something they really need to work on.We booked with Alamo on our recent visit to Hawaii (the Big Island). And as usual check in was speedy, and my customer service agent, along with other employees we encountered were very friendly & helpful.Unfortunately, the car itself was filthy. It smelled like salami (or a smoked meat), there was a dirty white film over pretty much everything, and we immediately had to stop to purchase Windex as we couldn’t even see through the haze on all of the windows (inside & out).This will not deter us from booking through them in the future. Their excellent customer service far outweighs some dirty windows.

Staff was great. Quick in and out.So Quick I jumped in the car fast because it was raining. I didn't notice the carpet was filthy, seats were stained and it had 50,000 miles on it. By the time we noticed it's condition we were to far to worry about bringing in back. Otherwise had a great trip.

The pickup experience was flawless with the shuttle pickup outside the airport terminal being very quick. Staff at check-in were great.Vehicle reserved was "premium", but they just had two vehicles that were over 50K miles, which in rental car age is old. The vehicles showed visible signs of wear and previous damage, so we took extra time to photograph/video and also make sure the agent at the gate noted the existing damage before we drove off.The return was marred by two issues: 1) the return attendant claimed we returned the car with the tank 1/3 empty, and 2) the shuttle driver didn't communicate that he was accepting passengers heading to the terminal, leaving us stranded.For the gas issue, I had to call Alamo customer service to get the refueling charge refunded. Standard practice on our part to always take a photo of the gas gauge at drop off, in addition to saving the gas receipt. For the shuttle pickup issue, we ended up walking the half mile from Alamo to the airport terminal.
