I was new to the Big Island, moved here in the Fall '22 with my '08 Honda Civic. I thought I would check out Tony Honda in Hilo since I had good experiences with the Honda dealers on the mainland. I had them just do a simple oils change and check the all the fluid levels on the car. Well they did the following and also gave me a diagnosis and Cost of replacing 3,000$ worth of parts. I know it's an old car but it has been running well. 6 months later I have damaged the transmission in my car due to low transmission fluid. The transmission mechanics said there wasn't any leaks. So I am putting the responsibility on trusting Tony Honda to do theor job checking the transmission level when plainly they did not. It will cost me about 5,000$. Don't go near this business.

Thanks to staff at Tony Honda9/26/23All the friendly and skilled personnel at Tony Honda Kona today helped me drive away today with my new wonderful certified preowned car, this beautiful 2020 Honda Civic Sport hatchback. The salesperson Krystal with her encouraging, low-key but persistent manner welcomed me into exactly the car I wanted and needed. Rylan, a knowledgeable and caring service advisor, gave me a lot of confidence in the quality of his care and knowledge of this Honda car and of the service I'm going to continue to receive from Tony Honda Kona service department. Melissa wrapped my car around with a 360 degree warranty that frees me up to enjoy driving, rather than worrying. The manager Kai was friendly and available. The GM Kiko welcomed me so nicely and warmly and I see how well he sets the tone for this fine dealership. With all these great people I worked with here and all the others, I know I'm in good hands with Tony Honda Kona. I did a lot of research about the other dealerships in town and I chose this Honda car and this Tony Honda Kona dealership based on my friends' experience, Internet reviews, and a lot of research. Now all that good news about Tony Honda Kona has come to life. I am very pleased and satisfied. I thank all of you at Tony Honda Kona who made it possible for me to drive home in my comfortable, eye-catching, safe, and reliable Honda Civic Sport hatchback!

I decided to replace tires on my Acura MDX at Costco and it turned out that my car is missing the wheel lock key. Costco told me that they cannot do anything about it and suggesting to try Tony Honda.People at Tony Honda were very helpful and incredibly friendly.They have a huge Honda Wheel Lug Nut Lock Master Key Set.Found the matching key for me and lent it to me to go back to Costco and have my tires replaced.Wow! What the awesome people are working at Tony Honda!Love you guys. You helped me in a very difficult spot.

Brought our 2016 Honda Pilot in for regular servicing. Two weeks later, the a/c quits. I took the vehicle back in and after waiting 6 hours for diagnostics was told I need a new compressor. This cost me $500. Was also told I need two new tires to pass the state safety check. All told, it would cost upward of $4000. Seems fishy for a car that was fine two weeks prior.

Sales rep Michael was rude especially if I asked any questions with his responses.. and didn't listen to what we were looking for and Then almost lost the title to my car after telling him him that I wanted to trade in for a new car... but kept insisting it was in my purse.. I literally had to dump my bag at the reception area in front of everyone to show him I never got anything back. And even then was persistent that he gave it back...Finally another sales rep found it because he had misplaced it... you get the vibe that he thinks he's above you.. did not like coming here at all.... Go aloha Kia or Toyota. They actually help you and treat you so much better then here. Never coming back here. Mahalo!

I recently brought my 2016 Honda Pilot in for routine servicing and had no issues. Two weeks later, the air conditioning quit and the keyless remote was no longer working consistently. I made another appointment and told the service rep what the problems were. During the initial walkaround he noted that while the front tires had sufficient tread to pass the safety check, they should be replaced because "chunks" were coming off. The car was then taken away to have diagnostics done on the A/C. After waiting six hours in the lounge area, I was told the diagnostics showed that the vehicle needed a A/C compressor, clutch set and coil set costing $2,802.52. The technician's notes said the customer reported the A/C unit making excessive noise which is not true. The report further stated that the compressor may have failed due to the system being overcharged to .900kg as opposed to the specification .725 kg. This vehicle has been serviced only at Tony Honda since we bought it, so the overcharging that led to the compressor failure was either a factory defect or due to improper servicing at an earlier appointment. Additionally, to have two new tires mounted and balanced would be $666.00. The problem with the keyless entry/ignition was never addressed. I was charged $519.60 for the diagnostic.I have had compressor issues in the past with other vehicles, but not with one that is only seven years old. The fact that the system was found to be overcharged is concerning as it is not a symptom of normal wear and tear and the vehicle was never serviced by a third party. The service rep told my wife that he's seen compressors fail on 2020 Hondas-not a good testimonial!Because of the nature of this experience, I did not go ahead with ordering parts. The whole situation was not one that inspired confidence or trust. I already know I can get good tires installed, balanced and aligned just down the street from Tony Honda. I will soon be checking out shops with good Yelp! reviews to address the A/C situation. Honda Corporate has been made aware of this experience and has done nothing. Over the years, I have owned 3 Honda Ridgelines in addition to this Pilot. I believe that Honda makes a good product and have recommended Honda to friends. However this experience has made me doubtful about future purchases. I have paid in advance for a couple more regular servicings but will unlikely continue bringing my vehicles in after that.

I had an appointment to change transmission fluid at 8:00 am.But something came up an someone else car came first. They have always careless with customers time and I'm very tired of it. Why bother to make an appointment for anything if you just get bumped to accommodate the Honda dealership.

Richard was so helpful with getting me into a nice eco friendly car, very friendly and professional.I would recommend this place to anyone that wants to buy a new car or a used car. They are very honest and accommodating.If I ever need another car that's the first place I will go, hands down.They treat you more like family than a customer.Not to mention their professional mechanics that are so courteous and speedy, if you get a chance to meet Shay she is an angel on Earth. I consider her a friend and I just love the girl.Highly highly highly recommended.You will not be disappointed and they have coffee to boot.Lol

I am so... disappointed in the Honda service department. After being a loyal customer for over 30 years, their new management could care less.In September they replaced my transmission on my third party extended warranty and when I got the car back it would only start when the shifter was jiggled. First they told me I needed a new battery, which I replaced. Then they told me that there was no such thing as a shifter adjustment, which two other mechanics recommended before replacing the starter.Finally after they spoke with the mechanic, they adjusted the shifter, which helped but I still needed a new starter, which would be $1,200.00 and 7-10 days for the part. But they no longer accepted my extended warranty.I went to Precision Auto and got the job done, with the warranty in 2 hours.Sorry, but nice and friendly only go so far. I am no longer looking for a new Honda after years as a loyal Honda consumer.
