Sometimes it's way too busy! Needs more checkout workers! Needs to be staffed by more workers.

Some days can be good and others bad. However today I was not greeted nicely by the cashier Joey yet she has "#1 customer service." We are poc and the people behind us were white people. We noticed that she greeted them and not us. I felt uncomfortable and now I know to avoid her next time. I sensed a bit of micro aggression. However she is not the only one. TRAIN your employees on fairness and equality.

Just be careful when getting pizza or other concessions. They WILL NOT call out order numbers like at other Costcos. You have to know which pickup line to get in (that's on me- they do have very small signs above the pickup windows) and they won't tolerate any pleas for help if you just spent half in hour in the wrong one. I still love Costco but this location somehow magically combines a cold pizza and unhelpful setup with all of the fun and good times you get from a day spent at the DMV.On the positive side, you'll have plenty of time to write a Google review while you stand in all those lines.

If you need sunscreen, buy it here. 2-pack is $16 but at Target a single spray sunscreen was $20+.

Large and well organized costco with an outside food court. Lines are processed quickly. Good selection of fruits and veggies as well.Parking lot is large with easy access.Prices are economical for Hawaii.

Very good Costco. If you are on the big island, this the Costco. Would be nice if there was another Costco in Hilo.

Great place to get gas, the cheapest you’ll find on big island. Unleaded was 4.79. Also of course can’t beat the prices for food. I was on vacation so got groceries the first day to last me almost a week.

The employees that work at this location are the rudest out of any costco we have been to. They take racial profiling seriously here, so if you are local-- or LOOK local, watch out. They will stop you at the door and go through every! single! item! in your cart. Nasty behavior. But if you look like a standard, run of the mill tourist, you're fine. They barely look at your purchases. (Must be nice to be treated like a human.)Last time we were there, husband asked the transplanted woman why she was digging everything out of the cart. She said, "oh you can never trust people from Hilo." (We are NOT from Hilo) he told her, "no one ever stops us in California) and she had the audacity to tell him, "yes thats right because California allows people to just go on and steal." Like, seriously WTF?!!! Why racists move to Hawaii of all places, I will NEVER understand but that's just one example of many here at this store.I made several complaints with the management here as well as with their corporate heads but they don't seem to care. Doesn't matter that we spend tens of thousands of dollars every year here or that we pay an average of over $800 every 2 weeks on items from Costco. (Yes you read that right.)No other costco location has employees that are as racist as the ones that work at this location. We have shopped in stores all over-- CA, WA, NV, UT, AZ, even costcos (all locations) on Maui & Oahu don't hire people who are this bad at treating ALL their customers FAIRLY. Discrimination is the game here. We would stop shopping here altogether but it Sucks because its the only wholesale store on the entire island so we are basically forced to buy from them.POC: As long as you aren't interacting with the employees here its okay. But just beware of their judgemental attitudes and disrespectful behaviors especially as you are leaving the store!

As a visitor, i love the costco here. It has so much Hawaii special items, from shirt, to nuts to coffee, everything is so attempting and reasonably priced. Most of the other item here are at same price as mainland US. Not like saveway, i found the stuff there are so much more expensive than the mainland. It's definitely a good place to shop when u are on travel.. i got some rare items here and I'm super happy!

Love that there is a Costco on all of the main Hawaiian islands. Thankfully this one is located in Kona and not in Hilo (in Hilo just go to Cost.U.Less). You can find local Hawaiian gifts only available in the Hawaiian Costcos ie 100% Hawaiian coffee, 100% Hawaiian Peaberry Coffee, chocolate covered macadamia nuts, 100% Kona coffee, beach equipment, amazing flower bouquets, etc at great prices. But remember to look at quantity limits (per day) when buying if getting gifts so you're not trying to buy over limit in a single day.The macadamia nuts, chocolate covered or otherwise, sold here are HUGE, super tasty! They have all sorts of dried seafood snacks, fresh seaweed salad, kimchi imported from Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, etc.DON'T BUY CUT FRUIT (papayas, pineapples, mangos) at Costco. The local Farmer's Market or KTA Superstores carry local Hawaiian grown produce which is MUCH TASTIER and SWEETER than Costco's.Definitely buy the 24 slice La Tour Bakery raisin bread, it is so good on its own, buttered, jammed, for sandwiches or French toast. It's only sold in the Hawaiian islands. How good is it? An entire floor to top section was full of this bread 3 days ago, today there was 4 left. We bought 2 to take back to the mainland!Checkout lines are super long as EVERYONE including tourists shop here. The Costco food court wait is just unbelievable, like an hour wait.A MUST shopping destination for those staying a week+.

Since we were staying at a Condo for over 2 weeks, it made sense to buy food so we didn’t have to eat out for every meal.Costco isn’t in the Main City Core - you will need a car to come out to the location - but it is definitely worth it!There were many items they didn’t have that I was used to buying in Canada and Vice Versa.Canadian Costco’s unfortunately do not sell any alcohol, so we were excited to try things we have never had before - like the Kirkland Spiked Freeze Pops! They are sooooo delicious! And perfect for outside at the pool! It comes with 3 flavours - Lime, Hibiscus Watermelon ( my favourite! ) and Strawberry. 2 of them had us buzzing along nicely. Then there was the Kirkland Irish Cream - better than Baileys ! 1.75 l for only 17.99 ! We purchased a number of these for the trip as well to take home with us!We also bought some really good garlic shrimp, and chicken wings which were perfect on the BBQ.There were many other items that we enjoyed as well, with the exception of the Pepperoni Pizza which was far too greasy.

Food court is outside, so there's always a really long line, especially since there aren't any self-service terminals. There's only ONE line for everyone. They have a lot of beach and swim gear, except for water cameras - the only option is a $400 GoPro. Otherwise, it seems like a normal Costco state-side. The gas station is huge, and the lines weren't really long. Best gas prices on the island.

GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! They have a selection of tuna poke and shrimp poke- about $14 for a huge plate. Huge selection of produce. They normally offer 1 or 2 different excursions- now they had sport fishing $99 pp plus tax, and the night time Snorkel with mantas also $99 pp. Check often for the different activities and prices. Outside food options- pizza, hot dogs, chicken bake, mango smoothie, strawberry or chocolate sundays.
