I have had new savings account here for three years. I picked it because it had a branch closest to my home. The warning signs were there from the very beginning. It took several weeks for my initial deposit to come through so that I could withdraw cash. My etrade account was debited several thousand dollars and HCFCU had no idea where my money was for weeks. Then they closed the branch near me closed and no infomation was provided about wether it would ever open again. I found another branch and that one closed as well, again with no information. I only have a saving account so I don't log on much. Somehow they think it is best to deactivate my online access and delete my linked funding accounts for security reasons. Obviously they don't know how cyber security should work. The tellers are very friendly and efficient but the management/policy makers are either absent or STUPID. They also have the worst savings yield on the island.

This review is strictly for in branch service. I came in to meet with a representative and I sat for 40 minutes waiting. In that time, I needed to use the bathroom. No public restrooms. Seriously? I can't leave or I lose my spot. So, I have to 'hold it' for another 20 minutes. Absolutely ridiculous. May sound petty, but, when you ask people to wait on your representatives, you need to offer a bathroom.

Go anywhere else but here for loan needs. Total joke, no accountability from our loan officer or any management. Missed closing date and totally dropped the ball. Stay away..

This bank is now terrible. Used to be a decent local bank. Now you can't reach the MAIN branch in person for MONTHS. I expect the bare minimum from them. I called and was hung up 4 times. You don't even reach a local person if you call, it's sourced out. Absolutely terrible.

Given the closure of the lobby at their Koloko branch, this branch seems to be trying to make up for it by having adequate staff, which is unusual for a banking center in today's world.

Tried to make a simple bank wire and it took 3 days for someone to help. Ridiculous! Customer support is terrible.

This place is so shady. Between branches being closed all the time and ATMs not working, management will not lift a finger to resolve any issues. I had attempted to deposit cash into their ATM located in Kealakekua only to have it spit the cash back out multiple times with no reason. I video taped the malfunctioning ATM interaction in hopes management would take immediate action in making sure this doesn't happen to anyone else and fix any negative consequences as a result of their malfunctioning ATM. Instead, I was ignored, laughed at called a liar and to top it off my account closed. By not being able to deposit cash into my account the night before, I bounced several automatic payments that were scheduled to go through the next morning. The manager would not meet with me in person and nobody asked for a copy of the video so they could investigate and fix this from happening again. Very upset, I went to the main branch in hopes someone would say "Thank you for bringing this to our attention, we are sorry this happened and how can we make things right?"That was wishful thinking... The manager accused me of using someone else's debit card. I pointed out in the video the card went in and accepted my pin. Then he accused me of entering the wrong pin, I showed him the ATM asked what I wanted to do next. I selected deposit, cash, into checking. The door opens, I insert cash. It closes and then counts the money and displays the correct amount detailing the exact denominations with the amount. I push accept and then the ATM opens up, spits out the bills and gives no explanation on screen, nor receipt of transaction or error. I was treated like a liar, because he said every interaction with an ATM is documented, recorded and reported. I just showed him proof with the time stamp of my interaction and he said it never happened. The story goes on but the reality is Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union still has done nothing to make things right and to this day still has not asked for a copy of the video. They claim everyone is treated like Ohana... They must really hate their family and said they have never experienced any malfunction with any of their ATM's... I would love to hear from everyone else that has had trouble with this bank.

I began banking at the Kaloko branch three years ago. Everything was swell. HCFCU was remodelling the Hualalai branch for years. When it re-opened, they had no employees to staff the Kaloko branch and very few at the Hulalai branch and so a great bank has become mediocre. When they were at full strength, they were prompt, accessible, knowledgeable, and right nearby. In retrospect, maybe management should have been hiring and training bank employees as the Hualalai reopening approached, but that project took so long that I have to guess the construction company had labor problems of its own and could not meet deadlines. The labor market here is messed up. Lots of jobs and no takers.

I fell for an internet fraud. Credit Union pulled money out of our other accounts. Unfortunately they also blocked my online banking and automatic transfers from my normal income. So it isn't possible to deposit earned income into my checking account. Avoid, not so great of a credit union. Now the credit union is declining all purchases.

Bank disabled my online account, had paperless statements so not able to see account, would not re-enable unless I came into their branch. In interim they had three marketing flyers they sent bounce via the post office (for a single day). Because of this they had been charging $5 a month for seven months. Branch manager refused to help on 7 months of these bogus charges. Would avoid banking with them at all, they cant even cover $35 in fees they generated against a customer. Zero Aloha at this bank. Avoid.
