Great visit. Friendly staff. The vet took time to explain everything to us. I would highly recommend.

I appreciate this clinic overall but there are a few things I think they could change to do better. I don't like that when I brought my cat in for an appointment they taken them to the back for the entire appointment while you sit in the appointment room. Previous vets have also called and followed up the next day after administering medication to see how your pet is doing, which i didn't realize how much i appreciated until your vet doesn't do that.

Wonderful doctor and staff. Check in is by call in. Waiting area is outside. Big area and covered so easy to be in and out of the sun. Good service and friendly. All staff was personable and great with the kitty cats.

100% caring and professional. Every single interaction has been above and beyond. They have made traveling to our home in Hawaii easy and virtually care-free.

I've only been here twice, but off that limited experience I appreciate this clinic overall but there are a few things I think they could change to do better. I don't like that when I brought my cat in for an appointment they took them to the back for the entire appointment while you sit in the appointment room. Previous vets have also called and followed up the next day after administering medication to see how your pet is doing, which i didn't realize how much i appreciated until your vet doesn't do that. Overall I would suggest working on the care aspect of your business, especially reading back over past reviews, making sure that pet owners feel like their time and pets are valued and cared for and not like you're here for a paycheck.

No reminders and no follow-up. I called the emergency line on a Saturday and Dr. Head sounded a bit annoyed. My senior dog had stopped eating and drinking, also lost her balance all together, so I knew it was serious. Ended up having to put her down and paid over $700 for the after hours visit, euthanasia, and cremation. I was told it would take about a week. A week passed, then another, until I finally called. Needless to say I was disappointed in the lack of follow-up during this difficult time.

It’s been over 10 years ago and still stings so much I’m writing this review to try to get closure. My beloved poi pooch suffered an ACL in both hind legs. Dr Head informed me he could help my boy for $3000. per leg. I wasn’t in ANY position to come up with that kind of money and he said, “Well, to some people they’re members of the family and to others they’re just pets.”
It cut me to my core!
My Rudy is 13 now and struggling with arthritis in all four limbs but I’m sparing no expense to keep him comfortable.
Dr Head always did good work for us but if you don’t have a pile of money consider another provider because you’re liable to get stabbed in the heart like I did.

Highly recommend Dr. Head’s office. He and his team have been wonderful at helping take care of my doggo. They have communicated blood tests and given clear instructions for a treatment plan for my fur baby. Fair prices and quick to respond to texts or calls. Mahalo!

Lady’s who work there are rude over the phone.
The doctor called and said my cat was ready for pick up, we got there in 20 mins to get him. They put us on hold for a while. Then came out and said they’d be right back to bring him out to us. 2 hours goes by and we call again asking if he is coming out and the lady sounded very annoyed and said that they already told us that they were working on bringing him out. How long does it take to bring him out and let us pay? Anyway, just overall terrible service this visit, glad we’re finding a new vet.

I have been here 2 times so far. Once in Dec for my dog's new patient/annual check up/vax appointment and once in Feb due to an eye issue my dog was having. Both times I was very impressed and happy with their service & care!I know they might "busy" but I never felt that when I was there. The have owners/pets call in from lanai upon arrival. Each time I have only ever seen one other pet. After being taken in, you wait in a private room. The way they have themselves set up it makes it seem like you are the only owner/pet there. I found it to be a surprisingly peaceful vet experience. The front desk are friendly and helpful with scheduling. The estimates I have requested can sometimes take a few days to get. Each time I requested to have an estimate of charges ahead of time they did send it. This is helpful to know the approximate cost prior to the appointment. So that was good. For the recent eye issue appointment, I was able to text the office in the morning and got a response right away! I was so thankful for this. I think I was lucky, but I was able to get a same day appointment and it relieved a lot of stress for me to have my dog seen right away. The vet techs that did the intake upon arrival were thorough in questioning and listened to what I had to share about my dog. After the intake, they do take your pet to the back without you for the exam/vaccination/diagnostics - which is different than my previous vet. (Previous vet I was able to be in room during exam/vax with Vet & techs and I liked that). At first I was uneasy with not being able to be in the room but I am okay with it. I imagine it allows them to do their job uninterrupted which is important. I have never seen or gone back to where they do the exams so I cannot comment on the exam rooms nor their handing of my pet during the exams. But I did really like Dr. Head's consults with me afterward! After both visits, Dr. Head met with me for about 10-15 minutes to discuss what he observed, what they did with my dog and treatment plan. He was calm, informative and unrushed. I really appreciate the time he took both times to speak with me and explain things so I understood. The most recent time he was there, he walked my dog back with him and the dog came in with the biggest smile and tail wagging! Dr. Head was giving him puppy love and I was so happy to see it!The day after the eye issue appointment, I received a follow up email checking on my dog. Again, I really appreciate that thoroughness and commitment to care the Keauhou Veterinary team shows.I did get a copy of my dog's vaccinations after my Dec appointment but I had requested a "After Care Summary" or a copy of my dog's medical records a few times but have yet to receive it.Overall, I am really happy with the vet grounds, the staff and Dr. Head! Keauhou Veterinary Hospital is well operated and you can tell each team member cares. I am thankful to have them as my vet!

I would not recommend this veterinary clinic to anyone who has a sick pet. My cat had blood work done 3 months ago and I was told it was fine after I had to call for the results. He was losing weight rapidly. Dr Head gave me no recommendations on how to fatten him up and that he had cancer. If I had known I could have given the cat some cbd or other medication to make him more comfortable in the last of his days. I find him very cold and acts like an inconvenience when you would like to speak with him. I had to ask to have a consultation instead of talking with his vet techs who are super nice and compassionate. My dog test results on some lab work took him 4 weeks to get back to me. I will not bring my pets there and I would be very wary if you do

Great vet, they helped check out dogs on arrival to the island when moving here, and we've gone back since. They are timely and seem to be thorough
